Very hard to register at this location. You pull into campground and stop at sign. Then you have to walk across a road to a Valero's gas station to check in. Once registered someone will lead you to your site. The roads are narrow an have several pot holes. When we were there it was a Labor Day weekend and Tennessee, West Virginia football Saturday. It was pretty well packed. Personally, I felt $78.00 for my site was on the high end, but out site was considered a prime spot because it had a concrete slab. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The concrete pad on Site 61 was not long enough for my 40 foot RV and the site itself had quite a crown, so that when I leveled my front tires were wayyyy off of the ground, which I don't like, so we slept in an unleveled coach. The pool was nice. Convenient access off of the freeway. There was a Publix (grocery store) within walking distance. Otherwise a minimalist urban KOA, ok for one night. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

The young man who took my reservation, up sold me to a premium site. Upon arrival I spoke to another staff member who fixed the problem. Very old roads are small w potholes. Pool was awesome looks new. Bar next to the office. Office is inside of a Valero gas station. Gravel sites are very shady (no satellite) but a tad tough to find level. Good access to highway. Fine for a stop over. Needs work. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed 2 nights in a Premium site (concrete pad and patio area). Interior roads are asphalt and gravel, watch for potholes. Long-term resident area is separated from the campground by a fence. Pool, playground area are newly renovated and nice. The rest is fairly standard KOA "Journey"...good for a night or two. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

Very convenient to the hwy and Charlotte area. The staff was helpful and gave us an extra hour at checkout which we needed and greatly appreciated. Grocery store within walking distance. Our gravel site was very challenging to level. Our intent was not to unhook but were unable to do that in order to position our trailer for optimal leveling. Some sites are paved. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This campground does not live up to even minimal KOA standards. The office is in a gas station. There is a tavern attached to the office, but it has no kitchen. The only food available is frozen pizza from the office. The campground is a big gravel parking lot, with ill-defined boundaries. There are trees growing on the corners of the site that make access difficult. Charlotte KOA was tolerable for my purposes in the region, and they seem to be active in making improvements. There seem to be some long-term residents, but I can't imagine staying there for more than a few days, and I certainly would not plan to return. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

KOA with the usual amenities that the city grew up around. Campground is separated from the rather run down messy long term campers but the road into the campground is really busy and there was no where to walk our large dog except to go around and around the campground. The dog park for small dogs only. They had two larger areas marked for dogs but they were not fenced and therefore couldn't be used to exercising. The park is undergoing renovations so the dump was not working and some areas were fenced off and unavailable. The laundry facilities and such were immaculate. Staff were very nice and professional. Handy to Charlotte but not much to recommend it for camping fun. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Super friendly and helpful staff, large, clean laundry and restrooms, paved roads. Some sites are gravel, some have concrete pads. The "check-in at the Valero gas station " sounds a bit off putting, but really it's fine. Conveniently located, with the gas station, liquor store and Publix grocery all within walking distance. YMCA and drug store just down the street, many pubs and restaurants nearby. We came in for a Carolina Panthers game, and everything was very close and easy to get to. We would enjoy coming back again. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight while traveling to Ohio. The check in for the park is at a Valero gas station which is next door. Our site was a pull-through with full hookup. The site was somewhat unlevel but easily manageable. All of the utilities worked fine. The rear section of the campground seemed to be full-timers but they were friendly. When leaving the campground, you have to wait for traffic to clear; it is manageable but I wouldn't try it at rush hour. Dog walking was easy and it appeared that everyone cleaned up after their pets. We would stay here again. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you would like an adult beverage, walk back over to the Valero where Johns Place is located. They have a nice outdoor patio, great seating with a pool table and top notch alcohol. You can also walk to Publix. By far this one is the best I have ever been in and I am a regular Publix shopper. This campground is truly one stop shopping.

The CG is easy access from I-77 with rough but paved internal roads and a combination of gravel and concrete sites. We were able to navigate into, around, and out of the CG without removing the tow from our 45ft MH. The place is a bit disheveled with rough roads and cracked concrete pads but they have long pull-throughs in the back of the park which were plenty long for our car and tow. It appears that all sites have a bit of a slant from end to end but we were able to level the coach with our hydraulic jacks. Utilities are placed at the middle of the pad and worked well. There is a small grass space between pads which gets a bit tight if everyone has slides out. As previously noted, the registration desk is in the gas station. There is a large parking area just behind the gas station to park when registering. WiFi worked surprising well for gentle internet surfing and email. Did not use the rest room or laundry so cannot comment on that. Some sites have tree cover but the one we were in was in the open. We got good satellite and OTA reception. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we got an escort to our site upon arrival. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

This park is subpar. First the good: convenient to everything. There is a Publix supermarket right next door. The bad: the park is right behind a gas station, bar and liquor store, so lots of traffic out front. Next, in the back someone has a construction company with access through the park. So all day long there is traffic through the park of non campers. We were parked on this road and it was almost like facing a public street. Finally, the park is old, poorly laid out, and in need of TLC. Our power went out several times during our stay. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

First time staying here. Check in was at gas station as mentioned in previous reviews. Friendly staff at check in, no problems. Plenty of space to pull your rig at entrance to campground while checking in, although the distance to the gas station could be a problem for folks who have troubles walking. Our site was FHU with 50 amp, back in. We had disconnected at the entrance since we had a back in site. Roads are narrow but easily negotiated. Ample room to back in, everything worked, lots of cable stations to choose from if it's raining! Will stay here again. We camp in a 40' motorhome with truck tow, plenty of space at site. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed just one night to visit relatives. Gas station at the entrance was also where you registered also had a little bar with outdoor patio there. Campground had laundry room, playground, small miniature golf course and pool. But the pool wasn't open yet. Our spot was on the side closest to the road so traffic noise got a little loud in the morning. Our spot could have been more level. Had to disconnect the tow cause we had a back in spot but plenty of room to park it. Had cable hookup. Plenty of grassy areas for walking the dog. We would stay again.
