We stayed in park for over a week while visiting family in Charleston. Typical old KOA - clean, well maintained, they pick up trash, level site, but very short, narrow sites and roads. Lots of trees and shade but not able to get satellite. Cable was good. Wifi was good during week and could stream Netflix. Most roads and many sites recently repaved with asphalt. Nice to have grass between most sites. Convenient to I-26, local shopping and short drive (20 minute if no accidents) to Charleston. Park is next to a run down mobil home park. Had to park jeep sideways to fit my 45 ft MH on site. Some deluxe sites available with swing, patio, grill, table/chairs, fire pit. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

We were in town for a funeral so we did not check out the amenities. Our site was roomy and well shaded as were most. The only concern was the entrance to the campground. You have to drive through a dumpy trailer park to get to the office. I was concerned that the entire campground would look lake that. It did not. I would stay there again. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Trash isn't picked up at the campsites until mid to late afternoon. The park entrance drive hasn't been blown or swept in a very long time. Curb appeal could be improved on easily enough. Laundry is $2 to wash and $1.50 to dry.....pricey but they work well. They have a fenced dog park. We were here in a 42' 5th wheel with five slide outs....the largest RV here during our five days but it was easy enough to move in and out. The sites are very close together so not a lot of room outside. Our table was directly between the neighbors water/elec hook up and their sewer dump....not very inviting. The site is level with new asphalt in the pull through. There are just enough trees that they provide a lot of shade but it didn't affect our roof satellite reception. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Charleston is full of historical buildings and the French Quarter was great. There are also several plantations in the area to tour.

First the good...There are level gravel pull-through & back-in spots with full hook-ups & 50 amp. Some have patios. The internal roads are decent for big rigs and the pool looked nice. Wifi was good most of the time. Cable was great. Now the other side...previous reviewers commented on the many poorly maintained full time live-in trailers. When we made the reservations months ago we were told that there were new owners and they are getting rid of the old live-in trailers and cleaning up the park. If this is the case, it is not yet evident and the first thing you see when driving in are these run-down trailers and sites. Even the short-term stay RV area was a bit unkept - trees and grass overgrown. For this cost (even for a KOA), the place should have been excellent, but it was far from this. On one side of us was a cabin about the size of a small trailer...which had ***10*** people in it! (No clue how they fit that many for sleeping or other activities!) The other side of us had a new rig, but the owner had no clue about sewer and did not have a seal...meaning the smell was horrible, even inside our rig! We complained to management multiple times and even tried talking to the owner who blamed it on her absent husband and refused to do anything. It was a simple fix and we shouldn't have had to smell this stench. The park easily could have solved it. The staff is nice but ineffective. We were again told that the live-in's would be gone "soon"...by March, 2018. We really would LIKE to stay here again as it is very convenient for us when visiting, but will NOT stay until the place is cleaned up. It has potential to be a really nice park. This was definitely NOT up to KOA standards. We were very glad to leave! We camped at Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was about average for a KOA. Sites are gravel, and most have trees. Roads are paved and easy to navigate. Cable is analog and has a poor picture. WiFi is weak at best. There is a small dog park just outside of the park, but you have to walk through a site to get to it. Folks are friendly. When it rains, many sites have water to wade through. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

.This was a typical KOA, staff was very helpful and campground was quiet. We used it as a base for seeing Charleston attractions. Easy in and out with many gas stations and grocery stores and restaurants close by. Power, water, and sewer hookups all good. Park shares an entrance with a mobile home park and backs up to it on one side, but that is no problem at all. We would stay here again. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Really enjoyed the Charleston Tea Plantation, and Magnolia Plantation. Downtown Charleston city market is great as well as the Carriage tours of the city. Great food all over Downtown. Good little Latin restaurant right down the street from the campground.

We stayed in this park for 2 nights. They had the normal dog rules of course, but were thoughtful enough to add, no chains and no crates and no pens permitted on your site. You could have children, but it was obvious that they really didn't want them there. Children under 18 were not permitted to be in the park without a guardian with them. They had a nice playground, but it was obvious from looking at the nice mulch that children never played in it. We were staying there because the park was close to where our grand daughter was to compete in a tournament. I don't think we will ever stay there again unless it is just a sleep and go situation. Trying to get out of there was no fun. making a turn out of the loop we had to jockey back and forth just to make the turn. There were mostly fulltimers in that park and I can understand that in this hard economy. I think a lot of the rules were made because of them, but I don't plan on ever staying there again. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

A good place for a stop-over but nothing exceptional about this KOA. A variety of space lengths meant everyone had a spot that fit their length including tow vehicles.

Call in person to make your reservations and they will be sure to reserve a space that is the right length for your RV and tow vehicle. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This KOA is full of long term residents that don't worry about cleaning up their sites. We where in C-8; one of the very few that have a concrete patio. Most sites are dirt and have lots of leaves. Might be OK for a short time, not any place we would want to stay very long. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

All the sites are shaded with trees. A nice feature for the summer heat. Staff was friendly and helpful. Power, water, cable, etc all work just fine. Great location if you are visiting Charleston but don't want to be "too" close to the city. I-26 is only about 2 miles away and it is a short drive into town from there. Now, the bad side. As is common for many KOA's, EVERYTHING is gravel, sand or dirt. Usually not a problem unless you happen to be there during a rain storm. As for the RV sites - there are some that are big-rig friendly, but many of them are not. The property manager encourages people to make reservations by phone rather than online to alleviate the problem. They are more than happy to make sure you are in a site that is suitable for your equipment. They just need to know how much space you need. We were in a Class A with 4 slides and had no issues with site size or navigating the campground. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

This is the worst KOA we've ever been to. It's poorly laid out. The roads are very narrow. When someone is filling up with propane, they block the exit lane. Because of that RVs that are leaving have to wait along the road, blocking in people who want to pull in or out of their site. Sites, which are dirt, are narrow and you barely have room to park the car. Some SUVs and pickup trucks actually stick out into the already narrow road. The laundry is terrible. I didn't check out the bathrooms. There's a beautiful recreation room which they rarely use. It's got padlocks on it. The only activity they had while we were there was a small Easter party for the children. No potluck for Easter. The only good things about this campground: The people are nice and the pool is beautiful. We will definitely never stay here again. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Extremely disappointed. Does not in any way reach level we expect of a KOA. Toilet in rest room overflowed and flooded floor. Roto Rooter was working on sewer hookup problems when we arrived--a bad sign. Sewers at sites are located right next to drive, sometimes 20 feet from electric and water. We could not reach sewer to hook up. Grounds unkempt; grass and weeds high; muddy after recent rain; no exit drive from sites--you have to face oncoming traffic. Park appears to cater to permanent trailers, not travelers. Do not recommend in any way. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on our way home and expected to stay for 3 days to enjoy the area and the weather before heading to PA. Reserving sight unseen is risky but given that it is a KOA, you have some expectations of decent amenities and service. We made reservations early in the morning and then traveled 400 miles only to be agitated on several levels. The entrance was so narrow and tight that palm tree limbs drug on our motorhome roof. Then, on my way to our site another motorhome had his rig partially blocking the road because his sewer hose wouldn't reach the drain! You see, the sewer outlet is at the extreme rear of the pull through. I had to connect two 15ft hoses to empty my tank. The worst part is that my site was so tight with trees on either side that I had only inches to spare once my slides were open and I could not open my awning for shade at all. There were two other larger sites empty nearby so I asked management to change and they would not allow it because someone else would be coming "at some later date" and they wanted those particular sites. Long story short…. it was late in the day and we were very tired and so we stayed over night and then asked for our money back for the next two days, which they did. The sites were somewhat muddy and many sites were sloped pretty good. We had water, 50amp, no cable but could get several local channels on antenna. There was sewer but at a terribly poor location. The campground WiFi was next to impossible to use and our MiFi could barely get a 3G signal. Some of the poorest reception anywhere we have traveled in the USA. Overall, the place may be fine for locals to camp in small units but I would not recommend it for larger rigs. No fire rings but there were tent campers across from us with a campfire on the grass… go figure. This place is not managed very well or maintained very well. Traffic was absolutely brutal in this region and so arriving here and having this disappointment was enough to keep my away forever. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.
