Good park for price vs. amenities. The pull through sites are 80' or longer, gravel/dirt and with good spacing to your neighbors. There are many trees spread out around the park providing a nice amount of shade, but we were still able to connect our dish. The park has the typical showers, bathrooms and laundry facilities. The location is convenient to the main highways and just a few miles from the SC campus and the main downtown areas. The main downside was the nonexistent wifi, but that is more than offset by the very reasonable nightly rate. See our full reviews and pictures at our blog at thegilliamsisland. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in this park to visit the area. The front office is clean and got exceptional service. They have WiFi , but it so pitiful that it's useless. Electric is good, water is good, cable is not good. Very large pull through with no need to unhook out tow car. There are a LOT of full time residents in the the campground and some get drunk pretty early. There was evidence that someone was sneaking around our camper over night. We know this because they stepped on our brand new Rhino sewer hose and crushed it. That's scary that someone is sneaking around in the night. Nothing was missing because every we have is locked up. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Don't come here if you expect or need wifi - it is very poor/not useable most of the time. Otherwise park is good place to stay for visiting Columbia. Next to several large flea markets open on weekends. Fairly convenient to I-20/26 and 20-30 minutes to Columbia. Big rig pull through sites in Section A are very spacious and long. Roads are wide mostly paved and sites are gravel with grass between sites, concrete pad for picnic table. Sites have small trees that did not interfere with getting satellite. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very busy park. Since it isn't too far off of the interstate there are lots of overnighters. There are many permanent residents but the park is kept clean. The site was level and the utilities worked well. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of shopping nearby. Quite a few antique stores in Columbia. The capital is available for tours. There is a flea market between the park and the highway that is open Saturday and Sunday. Most of the spaces were empty.

The Good: The sites are all pull-thru (although we did have to disconnect to line up with the sewer hook-ups). The sites are fairly spacious, not right on top of the next site. All of the sites have grass (I will get back to this) and trees - trees surrounded by mulch that were planted to make the sites attractive. The roads are paved and the perimeter, common areas and entrance areas are very nicely landscaped. Cute pond with ducks and turtles. The restrooms are excellent. There was a locked meeting room that looked very nice. The Average: Fitness room had a couple pieces of equipment (no treadmill or elliptical though). The dog park is fair - mostly dirt, little grass, but had a large shade tree. The Bad: The sand! The parking portion of the sites is all sand, which runs into the grass and on to the pavement. Some of the sites still have nice grass, but our grass was very thin and sandy. The area outside the RV and parking area for the car was all sand. Wet sand after the rain. We had to put out mats to line the path outside the RV and to the car. We did NOT put any mats on the grass! Our patio had two sides that were completely broken off (cut my leg when I backed into it opening a storage bin - it was not a big deal tho - still nice to have a patio). The office lady was efficient, but not welcoming or friendly. I would call this a very nice campground, but not an RV resort. Seemed like a nice crowd of people staying here and easy in and out. A good value for the money. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The historic areas of Columbia are awesome - Historic District I (Arsenal Hill, the Historic Statehouse & DT) and Historic District II - just to the east of - beautiful homes and grounds. For bike and walking trails - the Three Rivers Greenway Trail - a wide paved trail with great views of the river and a lot of historical info. The South Carolina State Museum is very impressive. And a children's museum next door (we did not visit this).

Stopped here for one night on our way through. Had a pull through spot that was perfect for our situation, easy in and easy out. We didn't use any facilities. Site was a good size. Would recommend and would stay here again. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We sold our home and need a place to stay for a few months until our new home was completed and this was half way between our homes. Sites are level and grassy with ample spaces between sites and the pull thru sites can handle a large class A with a tow Roads are paved and some pot holes were filled in on a regular basis and extensive improvement of the grounds was ongoing. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stop for me. The sites were very long and reasonably level. It was really sandy. If you've read some of my reviews before I hate to park on a sandy site. I battle keeping sand out of the fifth wheel with a vengeance. The ladies at the desk were polite and my registering was fast and efficient. The utilities were great and the cable was even good. Food and fuel were handy. It was easy in and out with zero hassles. I make this trip every fall and will use this campground again next year. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty good campground overall. Somewhat older but pretty well kept. Lots of permanent residents but most keep their rigs tidy and nice. Located right next to a big flea market which is open on weekends only. Propane dealer right next to campground, you can fill up there or they will deliver to your site for free. Utilities worked well, used my satelite so didn't try the cable tv. The park advertises it has Wi-Fi, but unless you stand right next to the registration building you cannot get the Wi-Fi signal at all. There might be a handful of sites up front that can get it but basically, there is no Wi-Fi at this park. Verizon signal was moderately weak at one or two bars, but usable. Bathrooms and laundry are nice and well kept and there is no swimming pool. Office staff not overly friendly. I stayed for a month, the price is about the best you can find for what you get. Would give it a higher rating if the Wi-Fi worked at all. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an old park and, generally, quiet and enjoyable. It is next to a large flea market, if you like to browse. However, the office is not marked and we had to ask where it was. The check-in staff wasn't very friendly, like she was doing us a favor to tell us where to go. The staff we encountered, later, was much more friendly. The area we were in was pleasant and well-kept. However, there are some "permanent," long-term, sites at the back of the property that are fairly seedy looking.. While long-term tenants aren't necessarily bad, the sites at this facility were pretty bad. In addition, those people regularly drove through the park much faster than the posted speed limit without any consequences. The restrooms/showers were wonderful. They were very nicely decorated, clean, and the shower stalls had plenty of room. Quiet time starts somewhat early - 9 pm - but that wasn't a problem. Most people seemed to abide by the rule and there wasn't any late noise. Overall, our visit was pleasant, and we would return if we were in the are in the area. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Barnyard for a couple of nights on our way back from the beach. Easy to find, turn on Oak St. or go around the flea market. Office staff were nice and they stock quite a few RV items. Road in campground has potholes and it somewhat rough. Pull-through accommodated our truck and trailer. Verizon service was good along with decent cable tv. Washer/dryers appeared to be fairly new and worked well. Not a destination site, but is fine for a stop over. Utilities worked well. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
