Chester State Park is a beautiful, small campground. The grounds and roads are very well maintained, and the sites are clean. Sadly, there are only 3 sites with an open view to the lake (which is 50+ yards or more away)... which means that if anyone wants to spend time at the lake (which is everyone), they have to cut through the areas around those 3 sites to get to it. This doesn't seem like it would be an issue, as there are several ways to get around the sites without cutting right through someone else's campsite, but it seems that cutting through an actual site is the way most people made their way down there. Basically, there's not much respect for "personal space". We didn't really have an issue with this, and still found the trip to be very relaxing (even with the distance to the lake, the view was amazing), but if you are more of a private person, this may be annoying to you. Another nice feature is that this park has a disc golf course, but you need to be a bit better than a beginner to really enjoy it (we are beginners). The course is cut out nicely, but it's still like hiking and the "rough" is really rough, so losing your disc in the woods can result in a lot of brier cuts and scrapes. - FlowerChild7275

Site was very nice for one without sewer hook-ups. Electric was stable and good. Water pressure was a little low for us to take showers. One of the toilets in the men's bathroom was broken loose from the floor and appeared to have been that way for a long time. My wife told me that there was two toilets in the women's bathroom that were broken the same way. The main problems that we had was with the enforcement of their pet policies. We kept our small dog on a 6' leash as the rules stated, but there were several other campers that just let their dogs run loose with nothing restricting their movements. One of the campers had a very large dog that was on about a 20' rope and when we went by that campsite I thought the dog was going to break the rope until the owner had to grab the dog and physically restrain him. Also there were several sites where the dogs were tied out to a tree, or the camper, and allowed to stay there. I thought that you were not supposed to do that. We tried to be very careful of the other camper's sites when we were walking but I noticed that some of the other campers did not care and would just walk through any of the sites that they wanted to. I also noticed several sites that had at least three or more vehicles parked at the site. Most of these sites are small and barely able to have one vehicle parked much less 3 or 4 vehicles. We also noticed that some of the vehicles were driving very fast through the campgrounds even though there was a 5 mph speed limit. This could be a great place to camp if the camp host or the rangers would monitor the campers and make them obey the rules. Why have rules if you are not going to enforce them? We will not be staying at Chester State Park again until they start making everyone go by the rules. - dakota ev

Chester State Park is a frequent camping destination for us.
>They recently upgraded all of the sites with 50 amp service! Yay! Hopefully sewer will come with a future upgrade.<
The park is generally pretty quiet and a great place for a relaxing weekend getaway for us.
The campsites are well kept. The grills and campfire rings have also recently been upgraded at each site.
I cannot comment on the restroom and shower facilities as we do not ever use them.
The children's playground is located in the park's main picnic and recreation area, which is away from the campground. - landcruisers

We stayed for 3 weeks and loved it even though we had to move sites a couple of times to work around other previous reservations. We stayed on both sides - the lake campground and the office campground. The lake side is beautiful but the sites are smaller and not as level. Site 48 was great on that side - long, level, and spacious (but not next to the water.) The roads on this side are tight and steep in spots. On the office side, the roads are easier to maneuver and the sites are all spacious and pretty level. We attended a horse show on Saturday morning which was fun. We saw lots of people renting boats and using the lake for boating and fishing. The campground is 3 miles from the front gate, and cell signal is almost non-existent in the park. We had no T-Mobile signal and only 1-2mb download signal with our Verizon booster. The park rangers and campground hosts were all very nice and helpful. We would go back here! - mmhopper

Stayed in office loop. Most sites level, in office loop, tho close. Host. Feb to November they have big horse shows the 3rd weekend of month therefore very busy. Lake is nice. Watch out for horse poop piles. Loop was tight w 35' fifth wheel but manageable. - Grady1
May 2016 - $26.00
Large state park with wooded campground, playground, horse rings and stables and many trials for biking, walking, etc. There is even a shooting range in the state park if that interests you. No sewer at the sites, but a dump station near the entrance. The campground is several miles from the main park entrance. Sites are good size with a fire pit and picnic table. The lake loop has numerous sites with views of the lake. There is no swimming in the lake, but kayaks and canoes to rent. - Kelsey Ledare

We called at the last minute and were welcomed into one of their last spots. Easy access. Rest rooms were spotless. - Fannie Mae

We only stayed one night. Easy access from I-26 (exit 60). There are many tree between the campground & I-26 so we were not bothered by road noise. Most sites are pull thrus. Roads & sites are gravel covered. Utilities were conveniently located. Campground is on well water & pressure is about 40 psi. They will be going on city water in the next few months. No cable tv, but we received CBS, Fox, & NBC networks with our antenna pointed to 10 degrees. WiFi works great. Because they can't get cable tv, the owners opted for fiber optic WiFi. We were told at check in that we could even stream Netflix movies on their WiFi. Most campgrounds don't want you to stream on their WiFi. Restroom & shower area was very clean & modern. The owners are very friendly & helpful. We will definitely return when in this area. - c lewis

Good for overnight. Good WiFi, good water pressure. Employees pleasant. Not good for satellite. They do have some "satellite " sites you can ask for. - 12858

Best RV park in South Carolina! Great service by owners son, clean grounds, tranquil pond with ducks and fish, common areas for gathering by the fire pit, and great pool. Laundry facilities terrific but needs change machine. Perfect place for clean, quiet stay. - RJ Wright

Entry into the campground is not very wide and has steep short hills. The interior roads are not very wide but we were able to navigate without issue. Our site was a back in and we had plenty of room to maneuver. The staff here is second to none. The park itself is well set up and has about anything you could want. We were there for one Saturday and there were kids laughing and having fun everywhere. It was nice. At night they had a movie in their pavilion. Very family oriented. We would stay there again if we could get the same site we had but with a few exceptions we didn't consider it a big rig friendly park. The wifi worked for us and we had good Verizon signal. - Ghettomedic

One of the nicest commercial parks we have visited. This was our fourth stay. The owners of the park are just super people and the entire operation is top notch. Very nice setting with a fishing lake and close to groceries and such. We are experienced long time RVers. Will return again for sure. Love this campground! - martin d
