This is an extremely nice park but very expensive - nearly $200 for a 3-night stay including tax and with our KOA discount. Everything was meticulously maintained with a friendly, helpful staff, who were always around. We were escorted to our site. Roads were paved and sites were level gravel/sand and plenty long enough for our 40' fifth-wheel with ample room to park our tow vehicle. All utilities worked well, including cable and wi-fi. They have one of the nicest dog parks we have ever seen. The lake is catch-and-release only and, although we don't fish, we saw quite a few people doing so. There is a very nice nature path along the lake. Trash is picked up several times daily at the campsites and recycling is available at the office. Firewood, propane and ice are for sale and canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards, a fishing boat with trolling motor, and banana bikes are for rent. This park is very busy so reservations at least a couple of days in advance are recommended. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is fairly close to downtown Charleston.

The good: Very clean campground; one of the nicest KOAs we've ever stayed at. Helpful staff. Staff members throughout the campground were picking up trash, cleaning fire pits, and maintaining the bathrooms and showers. Cable TV and all utilities worked fine. Site was dirt/gravel. Could be a problem if it rained, but the weather was great during our visit. Awesome fenced-in dog run.
The bad: ridiculously expensive. Paid $66.00 a night for a regular full hookup site. And that rate included our 10% KOA discount. Seriously? We didn't even bother to ask what a "premium" site would have cost. It's a nice campground, but be prepared for sticker shock. This is an expensive campground, even by KOA standards. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is right off highway 17, in Mt Pleasant. Lots of shopping nearby. But be prepared to wait if you're turning left out of the campground onto highway 17. Depending on the time of day, traffic is extremely heavy. I saw people give up trying to turn left onto highway 17; they turned right and eventually found a parking lot to get turned around the other way.

This park was ok. Most of the KOA parks that I have stayed in were nicer and less expensive. $66 was for a water and electric site without sewer. We were visiting friends in Mt Pleasant or we would have stayed at James Island county park which is less expensive and nicer. I guess you have to pay for location. The staff was friendly and professional. The site was level but Dirt with some gravel. Our biggest complaint is the showers. They were clean but very small. There were no hooks for clothes and only a little stool in the tiny changing area for the tiny shower. For the price paid, I expected better facilities. We will not be staying here again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

This is our second stay within the last 9 months. It is a very good facility with a friendly staff. We were guided to our site which was level and adequately spaced. Water, power, WiFi, and cable all first rate and in good repair. Everything is very clean and well maintained. As stated by others, the dog park is one of the best we've seen.
The facility is ideally situated to visit many historical sites as well as Charleston. It is an oasis in a very busy area. There is plenty to see.
We highly recommend this KOA and will certainly be back. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The Mt. Pleasant/Charleston KOA is a great example of what all KOA's should be: well-spaced sites, excellently-maintained grounds, convenient location, wonderful staff and service. Since our last visit 3 years ago management has installed perhaps the best dog run area we have ever seen (complete with sand pit for digging and water for swimming), a new jungle-gym play area for kids, and many new "kabins" -- though they took many of the prime lakeside RV sites away to do so. Overall, this is a KOA that we will continue to use whenever we are in the Charleston area, and we look forward to doing that again soon. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Great koa, very easy for big rigs in park and entrance is easy as well. Kids enjoyed the play areas and has a great dog park. Great place to stay in the Charleston area! We were here in the "1000 year rain event" with 27" of rain. All the sites were still high and dry and had excellent drainage. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk across the Charleston harbor bridge, take an Uber back over to parking area

Perfect location for visiting Charleston. Lovely campground with scenic lake. Everything was clean and well cared for. Staff was friendly and helpful. Super convenient with many stores and restaurants nearby yet the park itself is quiet and felt secluded. The wife really liked that we weren't way out in the middle of nowhere. She likes being near the "hubbub". Our site was a pull through - just gravel with no paved or concrete pad or patio so a little messy during rain but not a big deal. For the price it would have been nice to have at least a paved patio. This was our first time staying at a KOA. We would return to this campground if in the area again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed doing a Double Key Treasure Hunt in downtown Charleston and also just freestyle wandering through the neighborhoods with beautiful homes and gardens. Don't miss Patriot Point with a WWII aircraft carrier, destroyer and submarine to explore. It was fun and educational.

Beautiful campground. Entry along a shaded, private road. Sites are well spaced each with a picnic table and fire pit. Some shade at most sites. Cable was clear. All the staff that we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. Laundry was among the most expensive we have used: $2 for a wash and $1.75 to dry for one hour, there was no option for less time. There is a shopping center close by. We visited the Visitor Center in Mt. Pleasant and discovered we could take the bus, CARTA, to the Charleston Visitor Center for $.85 (senior fare) or $1.75 (regular) and then use the free trolleys to get around Charleston. We parked for free near the Mt. Pleasant VC under the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Nearby is a lovely park and walk along a pier. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mt. Pleasant: Ft. Sumter, Boone Hall Plantation. Charleston: walk along the streets, Aiker-Rhett House, Nathaniel- Russell house. Angel Oak Park is on St. John's Island and worth the trip to see a 1500 year old oak tree. Note: the parking lot for the tree is not RV friendly but you can park along the road.

A really nice KOA but not cheap. Friendly staff. Everything worked well. Convenient to shopping and bus. Some sites shaded and some face the lake. We have stayed here on several occasions and would stay here again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can pick up the bus at the nearby Wal Mart but it really isn't difficult to drive to downtown. There are many parking garages available at $2/hr. Take a walking tour or use one of the horse drawn buggy tours to see the sites. The naval museum at Patriot's Point is worthwhile.

This campground is very conveniently located on US-17 North. It is very convenient to multiple shopping centers and gas stations. The sites were fairly level and some were more spacious than others. We've definitely seen smaller. Overall, we were pleased with the space of our site. The bathrooms were kept clean and the showers did as well (we didn't use them though). The kids enjoyed the pool and the wagon ride (on Fridays and Saturdays) to the Oakland plantation nearby. Power and water pressure were good, as was the wifi. We were able to reliably access the web via their wifi. All day trash pickup at your site was a nice convenience. We would stay here again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a go-cart/mini-golf/arcade near the entrance of the campground. The kids will love it, even if your wallet doesn't.

This was the nicest, cleanest, best run park we have ever stayed at. The staff was amazing. Every one we had contact with was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The amenities were awesome. I cannot think of a single thing we could have wanted that wasn't available. There is so much to do here that you'd never have to leave the park. We camped at Mt. This is a very nice park in a great location. Our site was 100 ft long and overlooked the lake. It was a gravel/dirt pad which tends to bring dirt in the coach but it was level and there was grass around it. Our section was very quiet. Good 50 amps. One large overhead tree provided some shade but did not interfere with satellite reception. Everything is clean & tidy. This is definitely one of our better KOA stops. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of shopping nearby. Close to downtown Charleston, the beaches, Boone Plantation.

In our 8 years of camping through 40 states we have stayed at many nice campgrounds but, undoubtedly, this is one of The Best. It is extremely well-run with a friendly and informative staff. The scenic surroundings and spacious sites (especially near the lake) provide an enjoyable setting in which to relax and enjoy your time there. Everything is kept immaculately. Should we return to Charleston we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here while visiting the sites in Charleston. The service was great, they were intent on making you happy. We had a great site that looked right at a beautiful lake. Great walking trails for walking the dog. Was able to pick up DishTV without a problem. Very conveniently located for restaurants, pharmacy, grocery store, etc. however it was a pretty long trip with A LOT of traffic to get into old Charleston. Some of the areas closer to downtown did not look very safe, this location was very safe. It was probably a mile off the highway and very quiet and peaceful. As with all KOAs it was a bit pricey. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.
