Very nice park, close to Charleston and other historical sites. Stayed six days. Level sites and big rig friendly. When leaving the park, I found it a lot easier to turn either right or left at the stop sign and go to the next cross street and you will come out to Hwy 17 at a traffic signal. Staff very friendly and helpful. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed four days. Very clean. A bit busy, but the lake and nearby water park account for a lot of traffic. A bit pricey, even for a KOA. thank you to the previous reviewer who told us about the easier exit. going straight out the driveway will cause you to set at a stop sign and wait for the bust street to clear....a long wait. We turned left at the KOA exit and took a "mall road' behind the Walmart and we were able to turn right onto a connector and the enter the highway from a stoplight. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Very friendly staff. Excellent WiFi and cable has just been updated to fiber optics. All spots are unpaved but level. Premium spots have small concrete patios but we don't think it's worth the extra money. There's a large lake that's wonderful to sit by. Very serene and relaxing. As are most KOA's the park is older but it's very clean. Rates are somewhat pricey but probably because of the location. Overall, a good value. We stayed here 5 nights. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Stores are close and convenient. A Walmart is about a quarter mile away and can be accessed by bicycle without using the main road. However, there are no close bike paths or lanes in the road, We tried to ride to a nearby plantation but the roads were so narrow is was extremely unsafe. It seemed the drivers weren't very observant or tolerant of bicyclists. Overall, a very nice KOA. We enjoyed our stay here.

Overall Rating:

The campground is maintained by a well-equipped, attentive, friendly staff. The grounds are clean! We were in site B22, one of two options open for a last minute booking . This site faces west so it gets afternoon sun with no shade. We'd recommend 52 or 46 for shade and less traffic. The nature trail provides 1.5 miles of shade for ideal dog walking and there's a secure dog park with water access! It's amazing! We will be back! We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Great park! Beautiful little lake and a nice hiking trail of about 1.3 miles. Huge dog park and "doggy beach." Very well kept facilities and tons of things to do in the park. Clean. Fantastic staff are always out and about working to keep this place nice. There was a water main break the last day we were here and they had it fixed in no time at all. Also, when we had an emergency health issue with one of our dogs and had to leave a day early, the front desk refunded one night's fee. I didn't even ask and wasn't expecting it, but when I went in and said my site would be open a day early as I had to leave, the man offered the refund, no questions asked. Conveniently located about 20 minutes from downtown, but as there is so much to do close by, we only went into the city once in 6 days. Several nice restaurants within 5-10 minutes, plus lots of shopping. A couple of things would make this a 10 instead of a 9 in my book. The sites and interior roads can get muddy in the rain. Some more gravel might help. A few of the sites have level/slightly uphill runs to the sewer. And of course, cost. I know KOAs are always among the higher priced parks, but it does get pricey to stay here. That said, they offer a lot for the money. Other: strong Wi-Fi; good OTA TV reception; strong Verizon signal. Didn't hook up cable, so no idea of its quality. If you stay in one of the sites near the office (20, 32, 41) you have a lot of room, but also a lot of traffic and noise. The propane refill station was going all day long! Plus you have everyone checking in, plus the dump station action. Much quieter towards the back or by the lake. Price is for a Premium site. They are adding concrete patios to several sites. I would stay here again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here for New Years. First site we were on #1, pull thru and level, but issue was tv -Espn. All cable channels were analog and dicent but channel #7 fuzzy. They allowed us to move to#15 and same situation. Park is 10 miles from historic district via hwy17. Park clean and level saw-big rigs, & tt. Plenty for kids to do. Clean bathhouse and nice front office with propane available, firewood and more. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 3 nights. Very nice overall. The setting was outstanding (old Plantation with trees and lake) and quiet area. The sites were nice and wide with grass buffers between sites. Our gravel site was level and well maintained with good gravel coverage. They offered individual private bathhouses that were nice and kept very clean. The office had a well stocked store and the staff was great and very helpful. The only opportunity for this RV resort would be to expand their laundry facility as they could use a few more washers and dryers for the size of this park. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Very clean and well maintained park. Much better than most KOAs. Staff very nice. Check in quick. We stayed in #7 for 2 nights. Only issue was not much gravel on patio, mostly Sandy dirt. Second site, #22, was shorter but adequate. Much more gravel..didn't bring dirt in. Would stay again. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Very easy to navigate for a larger rig. Decent spacing and most lots were fairly level. Good size dog park. Walmart and restaurants within walking distance (bike better) and anything else needed within a few miles driving. Wifi ok. Everything maintained as it should be for a KOA. Beautiful property with a lake (large pond). Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again if in area. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a site overlooking the lake. However it was a mud pit when it rained. Given the pricing and the location, one would think that graveled site area would be essential as some sites were. Disappointing. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We chose this site to see the total eclipse of 2017. This is by far the best campground we have ever visited for a lot of reasons. They don't just have a "lake". They have a very large, very beautiful lake for boating and fishing. They have an amazing nature trail. It is quite different in that the path is very well marked and you can bike or walk through it. All of the facilities are immaculate and extremely well maintained. It seems like they clean the showers and toilets every few minutes. The pool is small, but hasn't been crowded in spite of them being totally booked up for the eclipse. Finally, the staff were absolutely the best. We had a problem with our motorhome and had to move into a cabin for the last night. The cabins are extremely comfortable and well furnished. I've stayed in less comfortable Hyatt Regency hotels. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

We aren't KOA kampers - I say this every time which is ironic since I must be staying at them a lot to keep saying that. I did this one reluctantly as the one we wanted - James Island - was booked. I booked by phone (recommend with KOAs) and they had placed us in site 12 (look at online map). Site 12 nice with big shade tree and view of lake (but also where they have a pet walk - odd spot since people fish here, too). The place is fairly cute, and well kept for a KOA. We were impressed. The sites can be a little close, but really not bad. We did not feel too close to our neighbors. Some sites no shade. The bathrooms, showers are great (someone said showers were small - they are normal size and worked great). Laundry also good, 3.50 for full wash/dry. A few workers so friendly, enjoyed that as we've had other KOA experiences. Lots of cabins - different types and some of them in really nice spots. Tenting sites also really nice and big, a few right on the lake. A nice dog area where they can get in water, too. Walking trail nice and decently long (needed bug spray all but once). No real good biking from here - tried to bike to Isle of Palms, but nervous on some roads with no sidewalk or designated path (drawback IMO). Some boat things to rent but oddly ran out of lifejackets the time we wanted to paddle boat. Pool a little small, but nice enough. Hours limited. Felt like 2 different areas for RVS - ours near lake and the other in front of office. The deluxe sites were not all equal IMO. I don't know if I think they were worth it or not. We actually didn't feel price was too bad - we've paid more for lesser KOAs. Yes, I recommend. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We did plenty between Mt. Pleasant, Shem creek and Charleston while there. Hwy 17 can be congested, Rifle Range Road is good alternative depending on where you are headed. Walmart very close (bike-able or drivable) for supplies (Also, bus service into Charleston from here if you prefer).

We stayed a little over 2 weeks and the overall the campground was very nice. My biggest disappointment was with a few of the staff in the office. We have friends and family in the area and invited them over for drinks a few times. The staff wanted to charge our visitors a "visitor fee" and when I questioned the fee, I was told they prefer we meet family and friends outside the campground. I was very insulted and still can't understand the thought process for charging a visitor who is NOT spending the night. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

This RV park was fine - just overpriced for our needs. KOAs are always "resort-priced" it seems, but transient adults like us don't really want or use all those features that we are paying for (wagon rides, playground, paddleboats, etc) It was a nice enough stop for a couple of days and the folks in the office were super .. very friendly and helpful. And there was some decent bike-riding along quiet side streets, which was a plus for us. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.
