When we called we told them we have a 41 ft fifth wheel and an extra vehicle and were assured that the site was large enough to accommodate our camper and vehicles. The check in process was quick and efficient but not overly friendly. The campground was FULL of kids on bikes and people in golf carts! While trying to maneuver on narrow roads to our site a young child on a bicycle came flying past our camper on the right side. Had I not noticed her and alerted my husband he could have easily hit her! We stayed at an inland site. Besides being narrow the road turns are tight, a lot of trees close to the roads, and some uneven spots in the road where tree roots are pushing up. Our site was in the middle of a row. We had trees, bushes, and neighboring vehicles to contend with trying to back in. We were fortunate enough to have 3 fellows come help guide us in. The back of our camper was literally parked 5 inches from the camper and vehicle in the site behind us. Had to park our tow vehicle and car right along the door side of our camper leaving no room to sit out or use a picnic table. When we went out with our car there were hedges on both sides of Schooner Rd. that intersects with the main road. These made it very difficult and unsafe to try to turn left with all of the golf cart and bicycle traffic going both directions on the main road. Getting out of our site was also a nightmare. In order to hook up our tow vehicle had to block the entire road and had to be at an angle in order to make the swing out of the site without hitting vehicles and coaches on the other side of the road. All in all it was an unpleasant getting in and out and we will not stay there again with this size rig! We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is OK. It is old. Power was good. Some sites are not level. The worst part is kids driving golf carts! Some think they are Dale Earnhardt! We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We tend to stay at another park when in this area. This time, they were booked and we couldn't get a site. We called Pirateland and they told us they had a site that we would have no problem getting in (we are very careful to talk to someone before coming because our 5th wheel is 43 feet long). Having stayed here years ago, we thought we would try it again. We are very disappointed! This park is very tight! The roads use a loop system and the sites are so small, people park right next to the roads. Couple that with trees and signs, it is a recipe for disaster in a big rig. After spending nearly an hour getting into the site, we are set. However, I am not looking forward to trying to get out of the site. Sites are very soft and large rigs will sink in. This will be our last visit to this park unless we downsize to something significantly smaller! If you're in a big rig, try one of the other parks. This park isn't for you! We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground from hell! Every night is like you are at spring break, there are golf carts coming and going with screaming, loud music and flashing lights. This is our second night here and we paid extra for being next to the beach but next time we will go to the state park, which was recommended by the locals. Do not come here if you want piece and quiet in the evenings. This goes on until 11:00 pm. The office says they are sorry but will do nothing about it. Stay away from this campground. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Large beachfront park with pool and splash park. Generally well run with on-site food, store, mini golf, paddle Boats, etc. Crowd tended to be families, though tended toward a lot of loud driving around on golf carts, smoking, etc. Sites near beach are very tight--could only see other campers out all windows. Felt very crowded in the campsite. Enjoyed our stay. Not the kind of place where smaller kids can ride bikes or play outside though. No place for them to go safely. Maybe a site on the inside would have worked better. We like the campground and the amenities but the constant smell of smoke from the other campers which were around us on all sides and lack of play space near the site for the kids was a detractor. The patrol does a good job though and promptly shuts down all the revelers at 11pm. We would stay again, though we would probably check out other places first. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground, easily the largest I've ever stayed in, but it didn't seen congested. Stayed in a beach site, which was actually quite roomy compared to other places I've stayed. Out site had a wood shelter over the picnic table which was nice. Can be a challenge to get into the sites as there were a lot of trucks parked close to the road, but was doable. They had a nice pool, lazy river and splash/play area, also an indoor pool. Large camp store and laundry room, and a nice selection of food places on the guprounds. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We usually spend a couple of weeks in Myrtle Beach on the way home from Texas at Ocean Lakes, however, could not get in there this year. Pirateland does not have the same appeal as Ocean Lakes, however, has full amenities. We were close to the beach which is very nice. Hookups are a bit strange which water and sewer on one side towards back and electric, cable on the other side. Also, we were told we had to back our unit in from the passenger side which is very difficult. There are side huts for picnic tables which are in pretty bad shape. Laundry is cold water wash only, but there are lots of machines and price is comparable to other parks. If possible in the future we would prefer a stay at Ocean Lakes, but Pirateland is not a bad park just not as nice as Ocean Lakes. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

First time heading down to Myrtle Beach and Pirateland was a great campground to call home base while there for a week during spring break. Campground has amazing access to the beach, just a few feet from our site. Pool, lazy river, and kids splash areas were great. Food trucks were on site at the campground everyday and were very good. Verizon Wireless signal was marginal at best, and wifi was very spotty. Cable connection was poor on the lower channels but got better the higher the channel. Able to get satellite signal in the site. The wooden shelter on the site was very worn and LOW, caution if you are tall you will be ducking the whole time you are around them, and watch as they really hurt when you run into them. Cannot wait till we can go back, I would highly recommend Pirateland! We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Like all RV resorts in Myrtle Beach, this place is "yuuge", hundred and hundreds of sites. We were assigned a site that was a very tight 90 degree back-in, if not for the vacancy of the sites opposite us, it would have been a very difficult place. Thank goodness we visited in April, a rather light month, can't imagine what this place is like in the thick of summer. Site utilities were in good shape. Each site had its own covered shelter with picnic table, though added to the complexity of backing in. But, upon successful setup you are literally seconds away from beautiful Myrtle Beach. Absolutely fantastic, one of the top five beaches along the Atlantic coast for sure. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Construction noise all day long. Piles of debris stacked all over. Nothing was open yet they charge full price $800 a month Tons of Ferrell cats running around along with 100's of Canadian geese and ducks. Watch where you walk! They don't allow golf carts only rent them $50.00 a day. This isn't a resort more like the owner is greedy. Have my rv for sale was quickly told to take the sign in the window down "not allowed" No handicap access. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Due to recent hurricane damage only half of the campground was open. Sites are not cleaned by the staff. I policed my site after setting up, picking up trash, cigarette butts and broken shingles from the patio shelters. Wi-fi was in and out during my 2 weeks and it really slowed down when the CG was busy. Cable is analog, however satellite reception was good in the beach area. Speeding by staff was more of a problem then by campers. Staff moving stored trailers to sites ignored speed limits and speed bumps. Turning left out of the campground can be an issue when traffic is heavy. Laundry was clean but small for the size of the campground. I didn't understand why the CG continually clustered campers together when there was room to spread them out. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Internal roads are wide and paved, sites are grass/sand, mostly level (needed one leveling board) and fairly easy to back into, facilities worked well, but are located at the back of the site so you will need longer cords/hoses, site was satellite friendly. Staff were friendly, park WiFi is free/unsecured and worked well most of the time, T-Mobile cell service was fair to good 4G LTE. The park was quiet. We would stay here again. I was here a week after hurricane Matthew, so some of things were abnormal. Overall, the stay was satisfactory. The place is huge, with permanent unit sections isolated from the transients. Sites were widely spaced with the picnic table shelter between. My biggest comlaint (at the back in sites) is the closeness of the sites behind the unit. Quite close to the picnic shelter.(though, in fairness, they are staggered). One thing I found quite peculiar - you cannot use your golf cart. Unless you make special arrangements, you have to rent on of theirs. It is 1/2 mile from the ocean dunes to the front gate, so a bike or cart is advisable to get around. All in all, I would return. This is a very good park on the beach, sites are of good size, wifi was fast(may be due to campground being less than half full) and had no utility problems. The main negative for this park is the bathrooms. They are clean, but they are very old and should be torn down and rebuilt. I would recommend expanding them also if possible as I could see them being crowded during the summer season. The looks of the camp store and arcade could also use some updating. They have a great pirate themed mini water park for the youngsters. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

After calling this park and being told that the pool was open, we chose this park over our usual visit to the state park nearby. However, upon arrival we were disappointed to see that the outdoor pool was not open, nor were most of the other amenities. Other campers were also told the same as us. The bathhouse nearest us had some severe humidity issues that were not attended to.They were also not regularly cleaned but since it was off-season and not used by many, they were okay. This park has some wonderful newer amenities for families/children but the bathhouses are old and dated. A section of trailers down near the beach were extremely unsightly and should be removed. Huge park, half permanent, half camping sites. New cabins just installed (20). Right on the beach. Security at front office. No ground fires allowed. This park is probably 100% better during the main season--with most things closed, we didn't get the true experience. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
