12 Parks near Parris Island Marine Base, South Carolina
Jan 2014 - $15.00
This park is for military only or for those visiting for the graduation of family members from USMC basic training. The RV Park is remote, but you can still hear the wonderful sounds of the Recruits sounding off and shooting at the range. Sites are large and level and the laundry facilities are clean and inexpensive. Concrete level sites with plenty of room in between. I had some problems with the WiFi and the third party tech support was no help. Otherwise, the park was great. - User3319
Jun 2012 - $15.00
This is a rv park for military active duty, retirees or guests of graduating recruits.Very clean as only a military base can be. Their is no campground host, so you will get a combination to unlock lockers in the bathhouse to get the keys to unlock the utilities. Spaces are level with concrete patio and picnic table. Spaces are quite large. Free Wi-Fi which was in and out during our stay, but very strong near the bath house. Bath house is clean, as well as the laundry facilities.Roads in and out are in great shape. There is a park close by, but children will be bored here. Convenient for visiting Charleston or Savanna and surrounding areas. We would stay again. - mahill526
Sep 2016 - $31.00
Camped here in a 37 foot motor home with a toad. Had no trouble maneuvering at the front of the park. Next to us was a 39 foot MH with a trailer. They went in and out with no trouble. Campsites had a wooden picnic table. We had good 50 amp service, water and sewer. Space 20 was listed as a premium site. Lots of space, oak trees and Spanish moss provide privacy between sites. There is a kids playground and a cement 1/2 court basketball area. Pond on site with bluegill and bass. Never saw the alligator. Very quiet at night, 5 bar Verizon signal, good cable, slow WiFi. Was able to get both Savannah and Charleston TV stations on RV mounted antenna. Soil is compacted sand and wood.
We weathered Tropical Storm Hermine here. Some falling oak branches, lots of rain and lost power for about 24 hours, but no damage. Trees blocked the wind. Some flies and mosquitos, love bugs and black gnats.
US Mail Package with medicines "lost." Park Management saying wasn't delivered, USPS saying it was. No resolution at this writing. Suggest you use general delivery at St Helena Island. - starsekr
May 2015 - $31.00
We do not recommend this campground for anyone with an RV over 25 feet in length. Although they claim to be able to accommodate large trailers and motor homes there is little maneuvering room to swing into or out of the sites. The roads are narrow with overhanging trees and require sharp tight turns. We were extremely relieved to get out of this campground without damaging our vehicle. Be advised and warned before heading here. NOT for Big RVs!! - Damon Travelers
Apr 2015 - $36.00
sites are wooded and so the spacing for slides requires some finesse. leaves need to be raked. it is really quiet and the office guy was super nice. bathhouse was clean but showers are old and need updating. we would stay here again. - chopper989
Jun 2016 - $69.00
We stayed for a week in a waterfront site. It was awesome. Excellent park, excellent service, excellent location. - majorairhead
Jun 2016 - $54.00
We have been here 4 times now. The Resort and all the facilities on premise are first class. The Resort is very close to beaches, shopping, walking, biking and amazing restaurants. The Resort is dog friendly with its own dog wash station. Staff is very friendly. There is a 5 star restaurant on premise but we haven't eaten there yet. A variety of full hook up sites to choose from. - CindyThorne
Jun 2016 - $63.00
On Hilton Head and convenient to getting around the island. two pools, hot tub and small fitness center. Nice personnel. They give you a golf cart at check in and you choose your own site. Roads are narrow but you can get large unit around. Lots of trees. Only a few sites will get satellite. Have cable and pick up garbage at site. All paved, clean, would go back here again, - traveling the use
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Absolutely loved this park! It sits right on the ocean and the beach is never crowded because it is just for the campground only! The staff was super nice, check in was a breeze. This park is beautiful with huge trees and palms everywhere. The only caution I would give is that the roads through the park are narrow and curvy so take your time to maneuver through it. - Loving God's Country!
Jun 2016 - $38.00
I will say that we have visited Hunting Island every year for nine consecutive years. I have always rated the park highly, but not this time. This park's location is incredible, but without serious investment by the state if South Carolina, this park will continue to degrade. The bathhouses are 10 years overdue for refurbishment. Due to ongoing beach erosion, when there are heavy rains (common in the coast) water will collect and flood many campsites. For two years now we have witnessed many tent campers have there entire site end up under 4-6 inches of water. The state knows these sites are flood prone yet they continue to rent them out to unsuspecting families who end up having to pack up and leave after a heavy rain. The roads need work and I would estimate 90% of the campsites need releveling to eliminate the low areas that hold standing water. The campground hosts as well as the Rangers and staff are top notch. They deal with so many guests dealing with poor conditions and should be commended. Hunting Island generates more revenue for SC than any other park, yet every year funds are withheld to bring the facilities up to date and renourish the beach. My family and I love this place, my kids have grown up here, but this may have been our last trip here until something is done to fix the problems. I really feel like South Carolina is simply stealing tourists dollars at this point and if they don't address the problems immediately, Mother Nature is going to reclaim this incredible campground. I hope the state will act soon. - GaDawgFan
May 2016 - $32.00
Let me begin by stating, if you come prepared, your stay will be a great one. Yes, there are plenty of mosquitoes and No-See-Um's for everyone. We used a Thermacell and a large fan while sitting outside and had no problem. We did not have to use spray on insect repellent. There were a few things that I did not like about the campground; very few of the sites I saw were level but with a few boards it should not be a problem. Many of the sites had standing, stagnate, water either on the site or nearby, a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Our site, and those around us, had mud on the site. A little gravel on almost all of the sites would go a long way toward improvements. The roads are paved but can be very narrow in places. If you take your time you should have no problem. Some sites are a little tight to back into because of a few trees. We did have one issue with a large dog that was left outside all the time and barked non-stop. After several complaints, the rangers did make a visit which helped the situation. Overall, the staff we had contact with were very nice and knowledgeable. The wildlife within the park is unbelievable! Deer would walk right up to your campsite. If you are not careful, the raccoons will enjoy anything not properly stored. The beach is a short walk from any campsite and they are wonderful. Best of all, they are not over crowded. Park WiFi was ok if you were near one of the buildings. AT&T/LTE service was ok, usually 1-2 bars. 50 amp service was good along with water pressure. The park store was one of the better stocked stores for a state park. Aside from the usual T-shirts and hats, they had soft drinks, milk, eggs, and other grocery items. Overall, this really is a great park and we will return. I do wish they had sewer connections. They do have two dump stations. The park was clean and well organized. Each time I visited the bathhouse, they were clean and well stocked. - dtaylor
Jul 2016 - $90.00
Best park we have stayed in to date. All sites are individually owned and maintained. Most have pavers and are beutifully landscaped. Ours had a nice patio set and grill. Very secure setting and right in the heart of Hilton Head. Will repeat as often as possible. - BellasRV
Jul 2016 - $95.00
Overall a nice facility. We booked a space near the lagoon and the views were attractive. Nice pool facility, workout room, and laundry. Overall the grounds are lush and heavily treed - as in no satellite but cable worked fine. All sites are concrete or improved tile. Guided to site upon entry. Office staff friendly. Convenient to the main road entering the island. You do not want to have to use the many roundabouts that are all over the island. Confusing and tight. Close to beaches, restaurants and other island activities. All lots are privately owned and there is a big difference in level of amenities. The majority of the spaces we saw could use a serious clean up - from tree trimming to general maintenance. While this is certainly more of a resort in nature than a campground, it does not match up to other privately owned parks we have visited. If in the area I would come back. - Zoey and Reba
Jun 2016 - $70.00
Stayed at my friends lot so no cost. Beautiful setting but very mature trees so no satellite, but cable was fine. Loved the pool and the amazing paved bike trails all over the island. - sbrown
Feb 2012 - $1.00
We had planned on staying here however when we arrived we found it looked nothing like the pictures on their web site. Many old RV's that had not been taken care of, and the general appearance was that of a dump. The lady we talked to said they took cash, no credit cards; however nothing was mentioned on the web site, nor was I told that when I made the reservation. Also was under the impression that they had cable TV, but they did not. We did not stay here and am very glad we didn't, as we found a beautiful RV park in Hardeeville, SC. - gpafrog
Mar 2011 - $23.00
The staff here is extremely friendly and accommodating. It is very quiet. We had 50 amp but don't know if all sites have it, since this is an older campground, with some permanent residents. We didn't use the laundry house or bathrooms. We would definitely come back, as the price is right and the staff is wonderful. - Snowbirds2
Nov 2010 - $28.00
If you want to enjoy the Hilton Head area and not spend all your money on the RV park rent then this is the place for you. Its low key, nice and quiet, no frills. Kids welcomed too. Lots of space to roam, swimming pool and even free WI-FI are available during your stay. Older but Very clean restrooms and the NEW OWNERS are exceptionally nice making available each and every camper to have a good stay. - WVrvers
Sep 2016 - $40.00
Very nice little park. Staff was very nice and very busy. Nice pool located lakefront. Lots of grassy areas for dog walking.
Concrete patios. - Couch9748
Aug 2016 - $39.00
The rate reflects a Good Sams discount for a pull thru, 50 amp site. Recent reviews reflect our views of this park fairly accurately. The park is very clean, main roads are paved, sites are gravel/sand, fairly level, and the hookups are in good condition. The park has quite a few seasonal/permanent residents, but all sites are very clean and picked up. Park buildings all appear to be in like-new condition. The park is 1-2 mile drive just off I-95 with easy access. The park entry is a bit narrow for larger rigs but they do have a reminder sign posted to turn wide, and we had absolutely no in or out issues with our 40 ft + toad rig. We did not use the park cable, but most sites have good satellite access. Park wifi is typical, worked part of the time. Good Verizon and AT&T access.
The park is adjacent to what appears to be a county park with walking trails and a small lake/pond, the same that the RV park is on. This park is now on our list of possible stops in our future travels on I-95 in this area. - Johnson's
Jul 2016 - $39.00
Nice park on a lake. A good, 2 lane road a couple miles off the interstate. The facilities were clean and modern. There are only 2 showers in the men's bath house but nice and roomy and clean. Pool is on the small side but well maintained. The lots are roomy and fairly level. Full hook-ups on our site easily available. Good paved roads. The dumpster is quite remote. - Wayne67vert
Jun 2016 - $1.00
Better than having to dry dock on a crowded street. Spots very close, but did have all the necessities- cable TV even had 5 or 6 stations. Spots are dirt and not even close to being level. - DwFriedberg
May 2016 - $1.00
Almost cancelled our reservation after reading some reviews - Glad we didn't. This is not a resort, it is a older, mature campground and as that is a good value. Campground is basically level, sites are long, very quiet even on a holiday weekend. We couldn't connect to our Dish, but cable works fine, no charge for this. Roads have been improved and pool looks very inviting. We spent 4 nights in this park and visited surrounding areas. - RVgranny07
May 2016 - $0.00
We are Thousand Trails members so the cost of this stay is included in our annual membership fee. Even at no out of pocket money we feel cheated.
As other posters have stated, it is a quagmire with deep muddy ruts everywhere. Trees will attack your rooftop antennae, vents, and a/c units. Forget about satellite TV or solar, you are in the forest.
Thousand Trails should never book a large RV in this park. We will never stay here again. - bobnsandi
Sep 2016 - $50.00
This was an over night stop for us. Staff was friendly, cable and WiFi worked well. Close to I-95, but far enough away that road traffic wasn't an issue. We would/will stay here again. - Joe-n-Doe
Jul 2016 - $52.00
This was probably one of the best campgrounds we have every stayed at. It was on the smaller side and the sites were close together, but the staff and activities make it worth a stop. We attended the wine tasting and had a great time meeting other campers and talking with the staff. It was a great deal and introduced us to some local wines that we probably wouldn't have chosen had we not gone to the wine tasting. The staff was so friendly, we could have spent all night talking with them. Our kids enjoyed the fact that they could order pizza in the camp store and have it delivered right to the site. Everything in the campground was very well cared for and kept clean. The bathrooms were one of the cleanest we came across in the three weeks of our travels. I would highly recommend staying here for a one night stop. - coldwaterconch
Jul 2016 - $54.00
Arrived late, place was about to close. However, folks in the office were very nice and directed us to a spot where we would not disturb too much in our early morning departure. Kids loved spending a few relaxing moments in the pool before it closed. Enjoyed our stay and would for sure stay there again. - min7854
Sep 2016 - $25.00
One night stay. Take Exit 8 from the north or the south to save time. Quiet campground with roomy sites. Not a destination place unless you want to use it to explore Savannah. No one in registration when we arrived so we had to call a few times. It was easy in and easy out which is what we wanted. Would stay here in our fifth wheel again. - TailsAwagging
Jul 2016 - $30.00
Nice Park, big spaces
Easy drive to Savannah
Stayed here three days while we toured the area.
Good value, courteous staff. - happyflyer
Jun 2016 - $30.00
Needed a one night while heading north from FL. This was farther out of the way than anticipated. For some reason, the website gave definite instructions for those coming from the south on I-95 to get on I-16. Those coming from the north could exit I-95 and proceed to the CG. It seemed a bit out of the way. It was closer to re-enter 95 as you don't have to retrace your path. However, it is not a hop off and on location, but is doable. Check in was friendly and efficient. fyi-check or cash only. Our site was a spacious pull-thru, was gravel, and was very level. There is a dog park and plenty of areas to walk the dog. There is some road noise from Hwy 315. The cable channels were all local-not many, and the WIFI worked well during the day and later at night. It slowed quite a bit during the evening and earlier night hours. We would stay here again if in the area. - Gayle E.
