This state park has about 25 sites that are dirt & sand. Most of the sites are not very level, but we had site 16, which is better, and were able to keep our truck & TT hooked up for overnight. Only 30 amp service is available & no sewer. The restrooms have been updated & were super clean & usable. Campground road is paved but narrow & challenging to navigate. The WIFI did not work for us. There are stairs down to a nice view of the river, but beware of alligators. If you book on-line, you must book 2 nights. If you call in, they will book a one night reservation for you. We appreciated that, and would stay again. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This state park is easily accessed from I95. If your GPS has updated maps it will take you to the front gate with no surprises. There are several gas stations at the exit with pumps parallel to the store which is very convenient for refueling a large class A. This state park is very small, just one loop makes up the whole park. Sites are a mixed bag when it comes to being level. The best sites in terms of being level are #3 and #16. Our site #15 had a downward slope but by using all our leveling blocks we were able to get our rig level enough so we didn't fall out of bed and the refrigerator would work without an issue. On arriving there is no orientation, no map given, nothing. You are on your own and hopefully you have your site number already in hand. Moving into the park there are no overhanging trees but the trees on the sides of the road are close meaning you have to go slow and be very careful. The roads in the park are all paved but very narrow. The sites in the park are all hard-packed dirt with 30-amp service and water. There is ample shade at each site. TV reception of local channels is excellent. The showers were clean and during the week there was ample hot water in the afternoon. There are a number of stores, fast food restaurants, and grocery stores with 30 minutes of the park. The one and only attraction in the area that we found was the Colleton Museum and Farmer's Market and the Tuskegee Airman Memorial. We would return if we could get one of the two sites I mentioned earlier. We stayed in a 36 foot motor home. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.

Stopped here for just one night. Normally the park requites a 2 night minimum stay but got lucky and they had one space available for one night. If this is the case you must contact the park directly. The ranger is only in the office for a short period of time but if you leave a message they will get back with you. The ranger will probably not be in the office when you arrive but the camp host will check you in. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms were old but clean. Site was level and clean. Sites along Hwy 15 had road noise (could see the hwy) . Some sites have a view of the river. Wasn't there long enough to check out the rest of the park. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.

Overnight stay while traveling, close to I-95 but far enough off the freeway to get away from the noise. Small park but easy enough to maneuver my 30ft camper thru, and back into the camp sight after dark. The gate is closed at 6pm but received code when I made the reservation. Lots of trees, sites were level, and your close to the river. Would like to come back and spend a weekend, but would stay here again overnight when traveling thru. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice one night stop for us as we traveled through area. Camphost very prompt to come give us welcome and introduce himself. Very helpful regarding WiFi not working (modem at office needed reboot). Our site was close to highway so there was road noise but it was winter cold out so we were inside. Site was roomy, level and entire campground under large trees. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park! Shower house, main road, service, trails, and access to river were all really nice. WIFI worked well. AT&T Cell Phone worked well. We stayed in Flight (lot) #1. It's a pull through on a relatively steep grade. It wasn't bad, but my rear stabilizer jacks wouldn't reach the ground without about 1 foot of wood blocks under them. It's still a nice site, but most of the other sites were better, but they were taken. If you're debating staying here or at the other RV parks close by, I'd choose this one any day. My only complaint is the neighbor's barking dogs...why people think it's ok to let their dogs bark all day is beyond me. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very small State Park on US-15 and the Edisto River. Paved road through the heavily wooded campground was a bit tight for longer rigs and we were unable to enter the dump area with our towed attached because of the acute angle to the entrance. Road noise was significant at our site that backed up to US-15. It did quiet down at night and we were able to get some sleep. Like every river in the East this summer the Edisto was flooding, but we enjoyed kayaking on it anyway. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We went 11 miles into Walterboro which is the nearest town to visit a drugstore and then went to Williams Seafood and Soul Food on Hampton Street to get a great takeout dinner. Lot of choices and all fresh. I went for the shrimp dinner and the wife got a fried catfish. If you're in Walterboro and you want fresh fish this is the place to go.

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's a small campground with 25 W/E sites. No full hook-ups. Exceptionally clean bathrooms and showers. Excellent TV and AT & T cell coverage. Water & electric worked great. Very clean dump station. Trash cans and recycling cans next to the dump station. Edisto River access runs alongside the campground. Highway runs near the campground but we didn't notice the noise. We'll stay here again. Price reflects in-state resident senior discount. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent the night in our Sprinter Conversion Van. Arrived just before closing. We were met by the Camp Host (Ranger was at dinner), who help with sign in, site selection and set up along with full rundown on campground features and status. Ranger arrived and gave us a ride to office to pay and then a ride back to our site.

Main reason for posting review was the hardworking camp host and how super clean they kept the park, bathroom and showers! We'll definitely return when we have time to enjoy the kayaking. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Truck Camper.

We stopped here on an overnight on the way to Florida. It was very convenient to the highway, perhaps 3-4 miles off I-95 on good roads. There did not seem to be many stores or restaurants nearby and there is no on-site store. The camp host is very friendly and helpful and made a point to stop by and make us feel welcome. The campground is fairly small but the sites are fairly large and well laid out. Our site backed up to the river which looked like a nice place to go kayaking, canoeing or fishing. This quiet state park is just a few miles from I-95 and a good place to stay overnight. Restrooms/showers are dated but clean. The interior road is paved, but sites are not and are very sandy. There are lots of mature trees and plenty of shade. We received several OTA TV stations and the free WIFI worked. Our water/electric hookups were OK. We called in to reserve for one night, then when we arrived the site was not level enough for our unit. Phoned the office from the site and they happily changed us. We liked it here and found it to be good value. We would stay again. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Travel Trailer.

$20 per night was for a "little tippy" packed sand pull-though site with 30-amp electric and water. Our site, #17, was shaded by large trees. The site had a wooden picnic table and fire ring. It was pleasantly quiet during our stay. The small facility, at only 35 acres, is well maintained and very attractive. The campground host was very friendly and helpful. There are many activities available, which you can find listed on their website. The campground is near I95 but we heard no traffic noise at our site. AT&T and Verizon cell service was acceptable. There is free Wi-Fi available at the office. We received 17 digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice state park with electric and water hookups. A dump site is available. The heavy rains this past fall caused some damage to the gravel base of the sites. We were in Site 14 which was wide and long enough for our 40' Class A and tow, but the drop from the paved road into the site was deep and rutted. Other sites are in better shape. Repairs are on-going. Park is very clean and well managed. Camp host on site. Note: if you make reservations online, there is a two night minimum purchase. If you call the park, a ranger can reserve a site for one night. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Motorhome.
