As others have said the sites are different, parking is on the side of the road. The front of our camper faced the road, but so did many others. Site 85 was level and dry. The campground was out in the open and the sun was very hot at midday, but the camper gave some shade. Water was a few feet away and the dump station was on the way out of the park. The ranger programs were wonderful, the scenery and trails were great. Lodge and visitor center were nearby. It was better than any of the campgrounds we saw in the town of Interior. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a concessionaire operated Park Service CG, very conveniently located in the midst of the Badlands and near the Badlands Visitors Center. Some sites have 50A, others 30 A, others no services. Water & sewer only available @ dump station. Sites are narrow expansions of the roadway, adequate, but not spacious. Restrooms & showers are conveniently located; showers cost $0.25/2 minutes (quarters only) and are adequate but not luxurious. Surrounding veiw of the Badlands is quite spectacular. Most sites relatively level, but a few are not! We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

2 nights. The sight has the most beautiful views. The bugs drove us mad and even after spraying myself they still came. There is no real hassle with the slide being out. Some sights may have trouble getting there RV level. We had 87 and 76 which were excellent. Used AT&T for data and it was good. Road access is easy. No shade available except on the picnic table at midday. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Spent one day in the park driving the main road looking at the scenery and taking a few little walks on the board walks. This is more than enough time to see everything.

We really enjoyed our stay. The bathrooms were clean, despite some reviews I'd seen to the contrary. That said, the bugs (moths, flies, gnats, but only one spider) descend on the bathrooms around midnight and some of the moths refuse to leave the sink when you're trying to use it. The result? A small pile of dead moths in the sinks come morning. But the sinks were clean up until that point, so I assume they're cleaned out every morning. (Alternately, you can do what I did: grab a wad of toilet paper, pick up the dead bugs and throw them out. Done!) There were also two sinks in the shower building and they didn't seen to have the same moth problem. I saw the showers but didn't use them; my husband said the only issue was that the stool was located in the shower and there weren't hooks to hang his towel or clothing anywhere. I didn't look that closely at the women's, so I'm not sure if the problem was a lack of hooks or that some were broken off. The sites can be extremely windy, but we put some extra guylines on the tent and it held up just fine when a 2 am thunderstorm rolled through. Campground was really quiet, which we appreciated. The night we stayed there were more tents than RVs, which definitely helped. It's true that the pulloffs for RVs aren't all that big, but wasn't an issue for us (see: tent). All in all, we really enjoyed the views, the evening program in the amphitheater, and would stay again. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Tent.

A friend we were traveling with made this reservation, so I didn't have the opportunity to choose a site. Prior reviews are accurate with the pull over style sites. The entire campground roadway has barriers about a foot off the road and about 30 inches in height. Be careful when setting up. Slides will only be an issue on the road side if you don't get close to the barriers. Didn't use the restroom or showers, or the dump station but they are located in good places if you need them. The campground was full both nights were were there, it was tight but we spent all of the time in the park and didn't have any issues. You need a park pass to access this campground. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Besides the national park and all it has to offer, the visitors center adjacent to the campground is informative and interesting. If you want to try some local flavor, the Wagon Wheel bar in Interior is a classic.

Ok, I did not do my research. First, I thought the view would be like the iconic pictures of the Badlands. So I was a tiny bit disappointed at first. BUT the view is still fabulous. Second, I did not realize there was a bathhouse (8 minutes for $1) or a dishwashing station. We are self-contained so we didn't need it, but we did fill up our water bottles and coffee pot at the water fountain/spigot. This is a quiet campground and the sites are well spaced. Sites are just a wide spot in the road, so you DO have to pull all the way off. Two rigs had their slides out across from each other and it was a tight squeeze to get through. Anyway, no partying, just everyone enjoying nature. The roads are one way so depending on which side you are on, your door might face the road. In site 81, our door faced the picnic table and the Badlands. It rained like crazy and some of the sites flooded, including ours. So the dogs splashed around in about 2" of water in the grass. Some of the other sites were muddy, though. Our neighbors came in after dark and had trouble finding a dry place to pitch their tent. We had AT&T service including slow internet. Our T-Mobile hot spot did not work. We did get some over the air channels late at night, did not try during the day. All said and done, this place is in my top 3 favorite campgrounds. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not all the sites face the Badlands. Looking at the site map (you have to initiate a reservation to see it), sites from about 24 to 41 have a view of the Badlands, some better than others. The rest of the outer sites face the plains. There are some rock formations but it's not the same. I would suggest calling for help in choosing a site. I called in February for a June reservation and the ranger's favorite site (41) was booked already but site 81 was available and very, very nice

As others note the parking spots are really just "pull-overs", but the location which allows great views of the badlands is the reason you're there. When we visited, the areas around and all the sidewalks leading to the bathrooms were under construction-and it looked like it might be going for a while. The camp sites are so close to the road that we actually had the ranger knock on our door one night and ask us to pull our stairs in!? Luckily our slide was not street side. The construction crew working on the restrooms had parked their equipment blocking one side of the water and dump station. That kind of slowed down the process of arrival to fill with water and the leaving process to dump. So basically park was awesome, great trails, wildlife and extraordinary views but camping there was a chore. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Giving this a 10 based on the views alone. Everybody is correct when they say it's an odd layout where you just sorta pull off the side of the road but that doesn't detract from the beauty of the area. I too was concerned about having our slide-out hanging out in the road but it was non issue. Easy to get to, easy to find your sites and set up. For the best views, get a site that is on the out side of the loop that way your facing the badlands. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

We did not stay here, however, we did a couple of drive throughs to check it out. We found that they had non power sites available at this time of year, but all the power sites were booked up. They do have a dump station. It should be noted that this CG is not on the Rec.gov site. It is managed by the Cedar Pass Lodge just up the road. The only down side I saw to this Cedar Pass CG was a KOA sign just outside the National Park that is extremely well lit and is visible from all over the campground. Tips for other Campers:

If you call and Cedar Pass doesn't have power sites available, they will offer to make reservations "up the hill" at Circle 10 CG (operated by same company as Cedar Pass). This CG is about 8 miles north of Cedar Pass and is not a NPS CG, senior passes not accepted however the usually 10% discounts for GS, AAA etc. are available.

We were thrilled to find this campground in the middle of the beauty of The Badlands. While we had some conveniences, we still felt pretty remote here. Yes, like others have said, it is not laid out like your typical campground, but we thought it was pretty easy to just pull up and stop at the sites. Because we had to switch our dates after I made the initial reservations, we had electric one night and then had to move to a non-electric site the second night. It was really no problem and our view of the Badlands was even better the second night. We would definitely come here again and it was a great experience! When doing the 30 mile loop of The Badlands, we were glad that we had towed our Jeep Wrangler. Some of the hills are steep and it was just easier to get off of the road at viewpoints and if we saw something the we wanted to take a picture of with the smaller vehicle. Glad that we were able to leave RV in the campground.

Yes, the "sites" are a little strange -pull offs on the side of the road. However, what you get is a gorgeous view of the Badlands. Even though the park was fairly full, we didn't feel cramped in any way. It is a bit windy out there, and one night we had to bring in our slides because the awning sounded like it would fly off! Many tenters left in the middle of the night as a result. The bathrooms were fairly clean. There was also a nice kitchen sink outside the restrooms where you could wash dishes. Finally, just as a little warning - all the small holes in the ground are homes for very large wolf spiders. So, don't do as our family did - stargaze in flip flops! They do come out at night and hunt. You can see their shining eyes if you shine your light. Quite fascinating! We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Camping in the Badlands was a unique experience. The views are spectacular. The campground offers electric only. The sites are pull offs from the main road. We had a reservation and so were able to obtain a site large enough for our fifth wheel and truck. The site was reasonably level. The electric was well placed and functioned as expected. Each site has a picnic table and a wind screen. We checked in at the hotel and were directed to our site. The hotel could use better signage for RV parking while checking in. We were looking for a campground that would be convenient to visit Badlands National Park. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We camped here on a weeknight.

This is a perfect spot from which to tour the Badlands. Agree with other posts: paved 'pull-over' sites are different as are having the door of the RV open onto a wide spot on the road. And sites at first appear to be arrayed in a large field without shade. Each site has picnic table with a shelter providing shade. Some have electric. There are water spigots and a dump station. There is no wifi. Verizon and ATT coverage is ok.

All sites have great views. We believe the gorgeous view of the Badlands and convenience of being so close to the park far outweigh the funkiness of the unusual arrangement of the sites. Reservations can be made. For walk-ins, they begin assigning sites at 2pm when busy. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many hiking trails near the park and roads are ok for biking. The park puts on daily interpretive sessions at an amphitheater walking distance from the CG. It's also walking distance or a short drive from the Visitor Center and a small restaurant. The tiny town of Interior is about a mile away.
