Yes, the parking is just sort of along the road, but it's perfectly adequate for a night or two. The view is awesome and the grounds were clean. It does seem to fill up quickly so I would secure a spot early. The website said it's "first come, first served" but there were "reserved" tags on many posts so I'm not really sure what that's about. No wi-fi but Verizon had adequate coverage. Didn't use restrooms/showers so can't comment. This is not a "resort". It is a convenient place to stay for a night or two while you explore the fantastic Badlands. I would stay again. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

The views of the surrounding badlands are amazing. Newly paved roads made for good biking in CG and also in the park itself. Can save $ by not getting a site with electric. We did 1 night without and 1 night with, saving about $18. Nearby Interior CG (2 mi) looks good to for $28. The park is very quiet and clean. September weather here is beautiful. Not too hot and not too cold at night. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The loop road is mostly flat for about 5 miles out from the CG, making for a nice bike ride through the park. Traffic was very light adding to the enjoyment. Lots of Big Horn Sheep in this park so drive slowly. Good grocery store inside the town of Interior, only 2 mi outside Park entrance on the south side.

Folks, this is a prairie campground so don't expect big shade trees. But do expect a beautiful view, both day & night. We got there at about 5pm on a Saturday and were very lucky to get the last electric site. People were pouring in after us so get here early if you want electric, if not, sites were available late. While no sewer or water hookups there is water spigot near by and there is a dump station. Something about this place seemed magicial, one of the most friendly CGs we've been in (might have been the blood moon eclipse). Be sure to drive the loop, so much to see in the Badlands. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Look for Big Horn Sheep....

GREAT location (and views) for exploring the Badlands and area. Even in late September with no reservation, don't get here too late if you want electric hookup. Depending on rig and size, sites can be tight. Diversity of other campers is wonderful. Very helpful host. Good access to optional routes into Rapid City/Black Hills. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very limited good eating (and shopping) options in the area, so plan around that if important.

As others have said its like parking along a road. The one thing I didn't like were some of these camp spots were very unlevel and it took quit a bit to get our trailer level front to back. Beautiful area especially so at night! Phone service was pretty bad. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very cool campground because it's located right in the Badlands. We had a nice view to the West in the morning but a great view to the East in the evening . I had to level both ways but it wasn't too bad. Most of the campers were in tents rather than RVs but it was very quiet. The dump station area had plenty of room and was easy to enter and exit. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are heading to Rapid City when leaving this campground, Highway 44 is a nice alternative to Interstate 90.
The largest and best sites are on the outside side of the loops because the roads travel counter clockwise.

Ok for overnight stay but I don't think I would want to stay for more than one night unless you want to enjoy the park for a few days. Almost full when we arrived at 6pm. All parking at on side main roads. Greatful for a place to stay since there are not a lot of campgrounds in the area. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Badlands national park, very interesting area.

We are learning that the National Park campgrounds are not so great. This is no exception. The only utility we paid for was electricity, so why do they squeeze us in? Our site is really just at the side of a paved road. They have installed large wooden boundary pilings to prevent you from going off the road. The only amenity is a covered picnic table because the sun and heat are relentless. You pay for the showers, which is okay, but the showers have NO hooks, NO shelves, so it is a challenge to take a shower and not get all of your stuff wet. If we were coming back, we would try the KOA just outside of the park, which gets good reviews. There is a campground host who we never really talked to, not much of a host. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Couldn't ask for a better view of the Badlands. The park host was very friendly and helpful. The parking is kind of weird with just pull in areas instead of actual sites. It's like you are camping on the road. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

When we arrived they had a lot of rain. The area around the bathroom was flooded and muddy. The bathroom has earth worms all over the floor and the floor was muddy the first night. After the first night the bathroom was very clean at any time of the day. They did an excellent job the last 2 days. The CG is loops with the sites being wide spots beside the road. Odd but it worked fine. Our site had electric only. There is a dump station near by. We would stay here again. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Badlands are a great place to visit and hike. The Rangers put on shows nightly. The food at the lodge was good but priced a little high. The Missile Site is worth the time. But it is a first come first choice of time to visit the Control Room. They only allow 6 visitors every 30 minutes. So if you want to visit be in line at 8am.

Rate for non-electric site is $18. For electric, it is $36.30 a night. Sites can be reserved although you can usually get a site for a night or two when you arrive (even electric sites). They just repaved the entire campground which is very nice. The views are tremendous. This is a very nice National Park campground. We've stayed here before and will stay again in the future. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Spent two nights here in September as a base for Badlands touring. You can't beat the location and can have some great open views and night skies. Because of the location, there are no trees or anything to provide any privacy from the other campers. Since not all sites have electric, be prepared to hear a lot of generators running. It was really hot when we stayed (over 100 degrees) so that may account for the number of generators running at all hours. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

Very lovely views and clean grounds. Confusing when we went because the camp host left that day and our spot was tight. They are along a road end to end, but the views are amazing and so is the park. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects Senior discount. The sites are paved, because they are just wide spots in the road. Not all sites have electricity. There are water spigots located on each loop and at the dump station. The scenery in the park is fantastic and they have an open hiking policy so you can go wherever you want. Just remember to take plenty of water. The restrooms were ok, but it was so hot in the shower building that we couldn't stay in there long enough to take a shower. We would stay here again. We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here in summer and it was very hot as no shade from trees. However, it is a must see and a must do to stay in the midst of these amazing Badlands. Showers and toilets are very clean. Have to pay up to $1.50 for a shower but hat is for 10 mins so well worn it. The visitor centre is not far away if you need some air conditioning and some good food. We didn't feel like cooking it was so hot. Would do this again! We camped at Cedar Pass Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.
