Beautiful city park campground that accepts reservations but you can just drive in and take any vacant site unless they have put paper tag on pole because it is reserved. No water or septic but does have good 20-30-50 amp service. Site pads are level dirt/gravel but entire site/park has thick grass. No host so you pay at drop box in center. - osok

I would like to suggest a great little municipal campground that is really almost a secret. Located in Castlewood SD; 8 sites 60 feet long with 50 amp electricity; water and dump station nearby. $13 per night - reservations can be made (but not necessary) with the city office M-F (closed Wed.) 9-5. It is beautifully maintained, quiet and has a "get away from it all" type feel. - Doug Buri

We arrived about 4:30 and was told to pick a site. The brains of the place is down town at city hall. After 5:00 nobody answers the phone. Value is good and they have a lot of empty sites tonight. There is WiFi which does not need a password. Site fairly level and quiet. No pull through sites. Weekends are filled with locals. - Dick Schmidt

We enjoyed our three day stay here. It is a very nice upper midwest small town campground. The showers and restrooms could have been a little cleaner, but overall they were acceptable. The campground is adjacent to a great county museum and a good fishing lake. The gravel sites are just fine and most are shaded by many huge trees. Also, there is an excellent city park with concession stand, playground equipment, and band stage. There are several very good places to eat in town. We will return again. - pjsky

We were wary of stopping here after reading other reviews, so were expecting trashy, unkempt hole in the road. We were surprised. It is a good overnight stop, which is what we needed, easy to get to and into, friendly manager rushed out when we drove in and walked us into site. There is a prominent sign and drop box for payment at the entrance. It is hard packed gravel, with a side section of mowed and edged grass for dogs. Lots of South Dakota wind, but no dust. Rained while we were there, and no mud holes. It has 15 sites, 10 backins, 2 have 50 amps and 5 pull thrus, 1 has 50 amps. The RV sites were in the front of a mobile home park, which was well maintained, with no trash but manicured yards, even tho the mobile homes themselves were older. Make no mistake, this is an old campground, not family friendly, no amenities, but better than Walmart, if you want full hookups. - Too Tide

A good one night stay. To me the park is not as other reviews have stated. We had a pull through so we could stay hooked up and our Verizon air card worked great. Would stay again if through here. - possumtrotky

We stayed here in our 40' 4 slide motorhome with tow vehicle. Full hookups even though we only used the electricity as we stayed one night. Like other posts a nothing park, but for the price it's ok. WI-FI did not work. Questionable if we would stay here again. - Jerryws98516
