Laundry room good, $2.00-$2.50 washer, dryer $1.00 for 30 min. Unfortunately, wi-if hot spot outside with smoking allowed. Nice dog park, lots of places to walk dog, a little bit out of town, but we liked it. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Custer park is a must. Needles Hwy, Wildlife Loop Rd. Walk around Sylvan Lake. Do some of the hikes in the park. Mt Rushmore a bit of distance away but a must. Crazy Horse very close by. Wind Cave. Go to town and enjoy Naked Winery/Sick-N-Twisted Brewery. Fun and nice people.

The Park was at the end of their season and the waterslide and pool had shut down but the facilities and the spacing were still very good. We were able to set up a fence for our dogs and had plenty of space. The only drawback was the cell service was non-existent and the wifi in our spot was poor. We had to go to the main office area for the wifi. Cable was provided. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

The area is very nice. Being here in Custer put us in the center of many activities. We hit all the sites! Grab a burger at Black Hills Burger & Bun Co.

We paid $46 for the first couple days as that was on season. The last two days we were off season and paid somewhat less. Beautiful, well kept grounds, sites are mostly level where we stayed (by the office). We had great WiFi as well: but no streaming video, appears to be blocked. Wifi may not be strong, or even available, elsewhere in the park. They do have free cable TV, so plan accordingly.

Friendly and helpful staff, that assisted with backing us in. Laundry was great; one of the machines was out of order but was fixed by the next day. We saw several examples of the staff hopping right on to repairs, which probably explains why it is so well maintained. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were very clean. Only aluminum recycling. At the site we had (back in) the utilities were near the front so we had to use 30 ft of sewer hose. I carry a 50 ft fresh water hose, so no problem there.

The rental car is a great convenience, it is a 2009 Dodge Caravan in pretty good shape. Other than being a bit bigger than our regular cars, it performed well going through Custer State Park, up the Iron Mountain Road to Mt. Rushmore, down to Hot Springs, etc. An annual pass to Mt. Rushmore and Custer SP is included and saves you $11 at Rushmore and $20 at Custer.

They have a 10% discount for Good Sam members, seniors 65 & over, FMCA members, or persons with an active or retired Military ID. All in all, there might be better campgrounds in this area, but we will definitely make this one our first choice whenever we come back to the Black Hills. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is close to Custer so very convenient. It is fairly hilly but most of the RV sites are relatively level. Some sites are easier to get into than others so be sure and ask the staff before settling on a spot. The store is well stocked and the staff friendly. Cable is good (about 25 decent stations) but the WIFI is pretty spotty (was out for several hours at a time). If you use a dish be aware there's a lot of tall trees. One plus for dog owners is a well maintained dog park with plenty of good grass and benches for sitting. Other amenities include a pool with water slide (which we didn't use). We'd stay here again providing we could find a spot easy to get into. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. Busy during 4th of July week. Full hookups were fine. Wifi adequate only. Cable hookup didn't work for us. In site 41 which is spacious and mostly shaded. Only issue which was a large one for us was the number of people who didn't hesitate to cut right through our site on their way to the office. Some were within a couple of feet from the door of our MH, or within reach of our small dog when we were sitting outside. My husband had to ask several people and kids to please walk around the road, some of which were pretty indignant. He finally parked the toad sideways across the entrance to our site and we moved the table to block the most frequently used path. That didn't stop everyone. First place we have been in that this was such an issue. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Nicely located to local attractions without being in the middle of the heavy tourist areas. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Custer State park is a gem! Needles highway, iron Mountain Road were beautiful. Beware of afternoon thunderstorms. Our first trip on Needles Hwy ended with a severe hailstorm. Wildlife loop at dusk, saw lots of animals.

Good park in Custer, SD. About 20 mins from Mt. Rushmore. Centrally located to many parks and local attractions. Interior roads manageable for big rigs. Park is clean, and quiet. Overall a good RV park to call home for a few days. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Rather rustic, wooded campground. Large level gravel site. We were in a back- in, site # 32, which had a huge wooded area behind us which was great for our dog. We could put him on a long tether without bothering neighbors. No cable. Wifi never worked. Lots of kids everywhere. They have a pool and water slide for a small charge. Very convenient to downtown Custer and Custer State Park. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Arrived expecting 50 amp service. None available. Took what they had...30 amp/ water/ no sewer. The weather was perfect, so one A/C was ok. Had to pay to be pumped out as we were there 7 days. The ladies in the office were outstanding. They are enough to get me to go back. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A friendly staff is the best thing about this park. There are very few level sites and there are trees everywhere so if you go, be careful navigating through the park. We will never stay here again. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Our apology for our many trees in some sections of the camp. When reserving, be specific if you want a treed or treeless site.
we do not have any troubles with any sized rig navigating the camp. Its why we personally escort everyone, so that they are aware of our natural features, the various sites.
We do take exception that our sites are not level, we strive to maintain our rv parking pads within an inch of level, but with our hilly nature, camp side space can be naturally sloped .

Escorted to site. Water and electric only at our site. Cable TV that was fuzzy until connections tightened. No over the air TV channels. Wifi was spotty and would only work for about 10 minutes at a time before disconnected. Laundry room has 5 washers and 6 dryers that were clean and worked good except that individuals (workers?) sat outside at the wifi hotspot and smoked and the cigarette smoke was drawn into the laundry room. Although I was in a pull through site I had to back out of the site because of the steep downgrade at the front of the site. Road noise was also bad. Campground was satisfactory but we'll probably stay somewhere else next time we're in the Custer area. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground is hilly with level sites. After we disconnected toad staff towed dolly to our site which was a back-in. Much appreciated. Walked dogs daily around CG and huge road frontage area. Large water slide and two pools which we did not use. Front desk assisted us in locating a mechanic for our slide. The weather in Custer was cooler as compared to Rapid City. I think that is typical. There was dust kicked up as vehicles drove in. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 5 nights. We weren't disappointed with the facility. The park is in a beautiful pine tree setting and you can see the beautiful lake from some of the spots. Our spot was level and all utilities worked great. The wifi was in and out on occasion, but worked most of the time. There was internet connection closer to the office where you could sit and use your computer/phone. The owner was working on getting the wifi/phone service to some of the lower spots. It was a quiet park and the owners and staff were quite friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 5th wheel. If we ever come this way again, this will be the park to stay. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Keystone, a little town with lots of shops, Crazy Horse Memorial, which I would not recommend for children as there is nothing for them to do there. We went to Mt. Rushmore which is amazing. We visited Wind Cave and Jewel Cave. We drove through Custer State Park and saw over 200 head of buffalo, including newborn calves. Very exciting to see so many buffalo in one place.

Thank you for your thoughtful and helpful review. We have completed installing a cell phone booster to that lower below the hill section of the camp. Much improved cell service there now.
We are working with our wifi provider to install new stand alone wifi on each side of the camp which would treble our bandwidth. Alas, we are at their whim.

Seemed like an older camp ground, gravel roads, gravel sites. In trees, but lake was not on property and was small. Staff friendly but not overly so (as compared to most others on our trip). Convenient to monuments, etc, but saw better camp grounds we would try next time. No real complaints, but no real lasting impressions. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
