What a great place. Very woodsy. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Stayed for 2 nights. Not sure if big buses would fit here- spots on the smaller size. Nice showers and bathrooms available. Also some pit toilets through out park. Lots of walking trails around. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Don't have enough positive adjectives to say about this campground. No picture on Google will ever do it justice, and for those luckily enough to stay in this park, it could well be a blessing in disguise.

It has a few sites that could handle a larger RV/5th wheel, but for the most part it was pop-ups and tent campers who were in the CG. It has a shower/bathroom and for the guy's it was clean, but my wife said the women's could use a better daily cleaning.

The camp host (Archie) took good care of the place and was quite sociable. The Dakotamart grocery store in Custer had very reasonable prices on food and a few minutes away in Custer.

We have stayed in FL, CO, TX, AR, MS and I think collectively, this was agreed upon as the best place that we have camped at.

Next time we need a SD mountain camping fix, this will be our first choice.

We were in site 12e which was one of the larger sites with mountains directly behind us. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This park is well worth the money! We stayed in a cabin which was in new condition. They are spaced well apart, and do not face each other so you get some privacy. The bunks were comfortable and the utilities all worked. The area was quiet, and the restrooms were cleaned regularly. The camp host was very helpful when answering questions as well. We saw buffalo in the park as well as many other animals. If planning a trip to this area, I would not hesitate to stay here. The sites were within 10 minutes to Custer. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Campground Cabin.

This is one of the smaller campgrounds in Custer State Park, the sites are fairly close, bath house is well maintained. The hosts were very helpful. Great location for seeing area sites, good food market in Custer. Nice laundromat at Coolidge General store - small but had it all to myself and very inexpensive. Brand new dump station around the corner from Game Lodge campground at the beginning of Wildlife loop. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This state park was AMAZING! We stayed in a camping cabin which consisted of 2 sets of bunk beds with full size bed on the bottom. We had heat and air conditioning. The showers were very clean. The views are unbelievable and was worth the 23 hour drive. The wildlife was everywhere. My children said this was better than Disney World. We hope to make our way back out soon. Overall Rating:

Campground is built on side of hill, so most sites are tiered or terraced into hillside. Difficult to get into site (2E), had to back in from side. Only a couple of sites appeared to be easy to get into (14E-20E). Cabins also nearby, causes more users for single restrooms & showers. Close to the town of Custer on western side of Custer State Park. Wi-Fi is available at lodges in state park. Host friendly & helpful. Park was full but quiet. All sites shaded by tall Ponderosa Pines. Similar to Stockade North campground on other side of lake. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was recently changed to a reservable sites. Lots of open space between sites. There are no signs in the campground indicating where the sites are. So we drove in and had to walk around to find our site. Then we had to turn the rig around to head in the correct direction. We were in site 5E. With a 35' 5th wheel, maneuvering was tight. The sights at the bottom by the restroom are more open for big rigs. The water spigot nearby didn't work so water had to be accessed from restroom area. Very family friendly campground. We camped at Custer State Park - Stockade Lake South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
