We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days at The Roost. We parked a 35' trailer in site 7 with no difficulty. The bathrooms were spotless, and I'm picky about cleanliness. The view across the field was a wonderful way to greet the morning. The campground is convenient to town, & Custer is convenient to the entire area. To reach the George S. Michelson rail-trail, we merely crossed the highway. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a small campground with very nice owners who are always working around the campground....the spots are mostly level with some shade depending on your site...we had full hookup but only 2 sites have it....The services worked great and the restrooms and showers were very clean with a lot of hot water....cell service, ATT was ok and our hotspots were very slow also, never could connect to WiFi....got 6 channels with our antenna....our site had a great view of the hills and open field which had a lot of deer in it every night....the owners had ice cream and cake for the campers on the 4th and he put patriotic table cloths on all the picnic tables....very quiet and very nice we will return if in the area....close to everything.... We camped at The Roost Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful place to stay! The owners are very friendly and helpful. The view couldn't have been nicer. The price was somewhat high for the area but it was such an awesome view, we splurged. The only issue we had was the lack of reliable internet. Not the owners fault but the area/signal. So many wonderful things to do in the area and this was convenient to everything. We hope to be back to visit. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Newbie owners are doing a very good job. The views are spectacular! Only 2 sites have sewer. Check in time is 3:00 and firmly held. OTA TV is 6 stations, WiFi is okay. Very convenient to Custer State Park and its wild life loop and needle highway. This is our second trip to the area and the park is a must see. Also close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Motorhome.

Small private campground with owners who treat you like family. Lots of deer that visit the grounds daily. Country feel but only 2 miles from town. We loved our stay and will be back. Only 30 minutes to most attractions. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Home setting under the shady pine trees. Other sites have a more grand view of a valley usually with about 20 or more deer. Very friendly new owners with guidance to your site. Small Mom & Pop campground with numerous rental Cabins that charm you into a easy laid-back mood. The camp sites are small that will accommadate up to 36 foot 5th wheel if you have experience and if they have an open site for you. You will need to call them to see what they have. We really like the homey feel of this site and the welcoming owners. Clean fresh restrooms & showers, fresh cut grass, two entrances, quiet, close to town 2 miles from Custer. With owners permission, you can feed the deer within 50 feet. The Roost Resort has the most friendly people that you can meet. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Local town has one friendly Laundry mat that is reasonably priced. We did three loads wash & dry for $8.25. Ask for assist it will save you money. A small grocery store with all you need, auto parts store, True Value store with deer feed, a small home store and the best hamburger place.

An exquisite little resort. The setting is magnificent, the staff very helpful. Restrooms and showers are cleaner than home (in a log house that smells so good). Only 8 sites and one pull-through, but this place is a real gem. If you are in the Custer area, don't miss this one. Does not have a pool. but cool enough here, I didn't need one. Each site has its own trash can. Interior roads are a little tight and gravel, but with patience easy to maneuver. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Great spot on grass surface. I had a view from doorway looking upon 100's of acres open dairy land with mountain views & deer every day. I will go back again. Owners are very nice people. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Nice, quite, secluded facility. I was a little nervous at first thinking I wouldn't be able get my 34 footer into the only pull through they had but it ended up being easier than I thought. Several cabins and about 8 RV sites. We enjoyed our 4 night stay here. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is a hidden gem! We moved to this one, since our first one is Custer could only give us 3 nights over the July 4 holiday, and we were so glad we moved! It is small and secluded and is run by a lovely, friendly couple. The campsites are gravel with lush grass all around. We could watch the deer gather in the field below every evening, and some of them wandered through the campground. The bathhouses are immaculate. The Wi-Fi is typical "campground speed", but I had a great Verizon signal for data. There are several nice cabins for rent here, too. We camped at The Roost Resort in a Motorhome.

Gorgeous location, grounds. Great staff. Level sites. Quiet. Close to Custer but not too close. Not for BIG rigs. Would rate it higher than a 10 if possible. 5 Star+! We camped at The Roost Resort in a Motorhome.
