Oct 2017 - $15.00
This is a fairly unattractive park, squeezed in behind an older motel. The sites are not easy to get to; we had to back up a fairly long distance to get into our site. The hookup worked, but they were fairly decrepit and there were weeds around the site. Only 30 amp service was available. This met our objective as a place to stay overnight with water and electricity, but due to the general unattractiveness, I am not sure we would stay here again. - hoppytoad
Aug 2016 - $15.00
My site was in the grass about 6 inches away from the wall of the back of one of the motel shacks that they rented. The worst part, besides it being almost impossible to get level, was the water & electric hook up. It was behind the Trailer & on the wrong side but still even worse was that I had to look for it inside a pit that was covered by overgrown grass (3 feet tall) & had to straddle myself over this deep hole which I almost broke my leg falling into as I reached over to plug in. Also got some shirtless looking seedy people drifting out of the adjacent motel doors staring at my unit. I had to keep the shotgun close by just in case. Truly a dump! - Robert9999
May 2015 - $15.00
We came in because of the Passport America discount but promptly left. We travel full time in our RV and this was the only place we actually refused to stay. Old motel with a few RV spaces squeezed in behind. Tight drive in and worse to get out. Looks like most live here permanently. - sawdustsal
Sep 2017 - $40.00
The grounds were OK but not well kept, it seemed like a long term camp ground, not a RV park , spaces for people traveling were limited to as few as 6 . WIFI was not working , strong sewer smell throughout campground. Very disappointed! Just didn't feel safe. - Slangord
Sep 2017 - $40.00
Nice park just off I-29. Paved roads and sites. Roads are in just OK condition. Site in good condition. Most sites have at least some shade. Not great space between sites, but OK. Picnic table provided. No wi-fi or cable. Very clean bathrooms. Plumbing is very old, but bathrooms have been remodeled with new tile floors and showers. Overall very good condition. Entrance is on main drag just a few minutes from downtown. Make sure to visit Falls Park. Lots of shopping just a couple of miles down I-29. If you are coming from the north on I-29. get off at exit 80 and take the back roads around to the park. The road at the entrance has a median. If you are heading south and you get off at exit 79, you'll have to do a very tight u-turn. - NC Bill
Aug 2017 - $40.00
We picked Tower Campground as a one night stay during a pass through travel to Black Hills. The only positives I can say is the office staff was very polite both on the phone and check-in. The location provides a convenient off interstate, easy in and out. Our site was a tight site in the west campground between two units that looked like they were permanent residence. We were concerned that our three slide-outs would invade their "space." We apologized to one neighbor explaining that we would only be there one night. His response was: "We are used to it."
The sites and road are dirt. As another stated, for the cable tv you must have a remote from the office. A return box is provided for leaving in the AM when the office is closed. The bathhouse nearest our site was old, dirty, and creepy. It was quite a hike to use the nicer and cleaner bath house in the other campground.
Overall, the $40.00 rate is a rip-off for the site we had, and we would not stay here again. The other section of campground is a bit nicer, but ours was the pits. - Golfgirl
Jul 2016 - $30.00
A part of the entrance road (about one block) is a huge rut filled gravel surface so go slow. The campground host escorts you to a site. We arrived to find 75 RVs lined up along the fence line of the campground. They were all pipeline workers but the host parked us far away from them next to the grandstands where we had full hookups and a pull-through. Only three other RVs were in that area and we were not crowded. Easy to find off I-29. Some jet aircraft noise but only once (near airport). - Winnie35
Jul 2016 - $30.00
I do not recommend this campground in 2016. Normally, we enjoy camping here because of its' close proximity to the Sioux Falls biking trails. When we arrived, there were over 50 RVs of the SD Pipeline workers camped here in addition to the 20 or so customary number of campers. As we checked in, the campground hosts were overwrought and bitter about the additional workload. They in no way conveyed the hospitality that the word "host" conveys. The site we were offered was covered with litter left over from the 4th of July. There was a large pile of dog poop that we pointed out, but there was no offer to clean it up. By our 2nd day, the host came around on their golf cart picking up only the trash that could be reached with their stick while they were seated. We won't be back this year, & hopefully by 2017 there will be new hosts who take pride in their work & the oil pipeline workers will have moved on. - Luv-2_rv
Jul 2016 - $26.00
I am so glad they had a place for us. It was nice being surrounded by grass. The fairgrounds provided lots of good walking. Our dog enjoyed those walks too. It wasn't noisey and the hosts were very friendly. You are packed in quite close and you park on grass. I would definitely stay there again. - Newbet
Sep 2017 - $46.00
Very expensive for the amenities. Park fills up quickly since there is nothing on the western side of Minnesota. Ok for a one night stop to get some sleep. - Our rv journey
Aug 2017 - $54.00
Easy access to/from I-90 and also close to downtown. Friendly and helpful staff, well maintained. We were assigned their only deluxe pull through patio site ... a concrete pad next to the laundry building, fully equipped with table, chairs, slider, fire and grill. The building provided some shade and was a delightful place to sit out, until someone turned on a dryer, which is vented to the patio area ... pretty unpleasant. Also, some other campers seemed to think that the patio was an OK access route for them to get to the laundry/restrooms ... ducking around us and our coach slides to do so! Good access to the sky for our satellite dish, the wi-fi was only a wi-fi signal, no internet access ... but cell signal was great, so we used our hotspots. - NCrog
Aug 2017 - $51.00
Quick, overnight stay. Called about an hour before we got there and they were able to find us a site (and it was full when we left in the morning). They had a horrible rain storm the night before so it was muddy, everywhere, especially the dog park. Seemed to have a lot of things to do on site, and they had a 10% off coupon for Perkins. Would stay again as a stop over. we have a 42' fifth wheel and had to unhook and park the truck sideways to fit in the spot. - DaBlairs
Aug 2017 - $20.00
A very family friendly campgrounds. We arrived and our space was not yet available as South Dakota parks have checkout time at 4 PM. So we headed down by the swimming area, we could pull the trailer in and have our lunch. It was apparent that many people were enjoying swimming, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The park will loan equipment for various games and the boat launch rents out kayaks canoes and paddleboats.
Our site for our travel trailer was spacious and we were able to secure two sites so that our son and his family could set up their tent right next to us. The one concern we had throughout was that the vault toilet locations let out a terrible odor, and could affect us in various times depending which way the wind was blowing. The restroom was basically clean though a little upgrading wouldn't hurt.
We camped in the west campground so that we would be comfortably near the beach for our granddaughters. Each site had picnic table and fire pit and electric hook up. The dump station and water fill station are easily located on your way in or out. There was no Wi-Fi on site, nor did we try over the air television connectivity to know its availability.
Many lovely hiking trails. Wildflowers abound and as to waterfront views. The park is about a half hour outside of Sioux Falls to be able to enjoy the activities available there. There is a grocery store in Hartford and a small efficiency store in the local town. You are definitely out in the country at this site but it is beautifully quiet, allowing for great campfires and night sky pleasure.
The couple who is hosting the campground are totally diligent about keeping it clean. If only some of the campers would be more considerate, especially with cigarette butts and from what I hear water balloons. There are numerous flies at this time a year so if you're going to be here for a long period time, set up your screened in room. - John-Jean
Aug 2016 - $28.00
One of the nicest state parks we've stayed in. It's worth the 5 miles off the interstate. Lots are very spacious and secluded. Staff that greeted us at entrance was very helpful and welcoming. A beautiful park with a large lake and lots of trees. Grounds are well maintained. No doubt we would return to this excellent facility. - Globeville
May 2016 - $19.00
We stayed here one night while enroute to Yellowstone. We arrived on Monday to find the park virtually all to ourselves. The office rangers let us pick a site from their map and we chose one on the lake shore. It was electric only. There is a potable water faucet at the the dump station. The site was beautiful and peaceful. We took nice walks along the shore road. The scenery was magnificent. I would come here again and again. Only complaint is they charged a park entrance fee along with the camping fee. I'm not used to that in state parks back east. - Tidy Boy
Sep 2017 - $20.00
Water and electric at site and dump is at the back of the shower building. Self-service registration. We drove in and picked a spot. Some gravel, some grass spots. Shower and bathroom was immaculate! Montrose is a cute town - we walked over to the nearby restaurant. Truck traffic going by during the day, but quieted down at night. We shared the whole place with only 3 other campers. We would definitely camp here again. - jenshick
Jul 2017 - $15.00
We loved this little park. Montrose is a very small town and this is a very small park - maybe 15 spots. It is right next to the town swimming pool and you can use the pool for free while staying there. There was 50 amp service and adequate room between sites. It is across the street from a sweeping grassy park with lots of trees (there were also trees at the camp sites) where we could throw the ball for the dogs. The night we were there it was full because of a baseball tournament but I suspect usually it is not busy. It's only about 10-15 minutes off the freeway. We had dinner in the small town at CJ's - fun to sit at the bar and chat with the locals. The food was just OK but the white house wine was quite nice! One down side is the dump station - it's just a kind of hole in the ground, not so nice. We would definitely make a point of staying here again. You just can't beat the price either! - twestover
Jun 2017 - $15.00
This is an excellent city campground near Interstate 90 in South Dakota. It's a great place for an overnight stop or for a longer stay. During the summer, your camping fee includes access to the city pool which is right next to the campground. All sites have both water and electricity. Our site was a pull-through long enough to accommodate our pick up truck, 32 foot 5th wheel and 18 foot boat with trailer without unhooking. If you are coming in without a reservation, check the board near the pay box before you select a site to see which sites are reserved. - Bobbi1948
Jun 2017 - $36.00
The staff seamed indifferent upon arrival. The overnight sites are set up facing each other with a community patio and quiet close together, no privacy what-so-ever. The sites are mixed grass and rock, had a little difficulty leveling. Lots of junk cars, etc. throughout the property. Pet area was a small patch of grass. Restrooms were clean, but toilet areas had ripped shower curtains for doors. We booked for two nights and wanted to leave pretty much right away. Won't return! - JCG
Sep 2016 - $30.00
To get to the campground I found that using Exit 73 off of I-29 is much closer and faster, and doesn't involve any dirt roads. Take Exit 73, travel west one full block on 271st Street, turn left on to 470th Avenue, continue past the airport to the first stop sign. The entrance is ahead on the left.
If you read between the lines in the directions, you will gather that the CG is close to both a municipal airport and Interstate 29. There are not many planes that use the airport, but on several days they began their take-offs around 7:00AM which was slightly disturbing. Also the Interstate is fairly close, so there is some noise from the highway, but after a day or two we hardly noticed it.
Otherwise this is a very quiet, well run facility. It was quite full when we were there and some of the rigs were close together, but we hardly knew our neighbors were there. We used the laundry, which was clean and not expensive, but not the restrooms or showers so we can't comment on those. There appeared to be many seasonals, but we didn't notice any junk sitting around that can be seen at a lot of campgrounds. During our stay, the Sioux Falls area received FIVE INCHES of rain, which was very unusual, so there was a lot of standing water and mud in the CG, but that can't be blamed on them. All-in-all, if in the area, we would not hesitate to stay here again. - Love To Travel 2
Aug 2016 - $35.00
Motor homes over 40' should not use this park, too many trees and narrow sites and roads!
Lots are very close and mostly shady. Sites are gravel and feature a picnic table. - Tricia B
Sep 2017 - $57.00
This park really needs someone to take control and be a manager. Very young teens doing the check in, and they didn't get much direction before hand. Our check in took an extraordinary amount of time as they couldn't get the computer system to work. We were told it was a "new system". The park is in dire need of upgrading and upkeep. The sites are mostly dirt and thus very dusty. The lawns and bushes could use a good trimming. And many of the features that are intended for children looked a bit beat up and in need of service. We wouldn't stay here again. - SargeW
Jul 2017 - $50.00
We camped here to provide some fun for the kids. Nice pool, mini-golf and jumping pillow. The park is very nice and clean with large sites. Staff were friendly, but seemed to be run by teenagers - some of whom just sat around and could have been attending to the things such as the maintenance of the mini-golf course. A bit expensive. We would stay here again. - bradfeldt
Jun 2017 - $52.00
Very nice park. Excellent amenities for families. Nice dog park. Level sites of adequate width. Need a few more receptacles for trash as dumpsters were at end of very long rows. - americanrascal
Sep 2017 - $27.00
Very Nice campground close to I-90 and 229. All spots were back in, 50AMP, and very spacious. The park was a nice park and we were able to easily walk the dogs. We stayed here one night. Cost was 20$ and 7$ state park car fee. - Sean_Michelle
Aug 2017 - $20.00
Long wide sites. Easy access to I-90. Clean restrooms and showers. Site surface was asphalt and featured a fire ring and picnic table. - gmbmailbox
Aug 2017 - $20.00
Beautiful park. Sites are level and lots of space between sites. Only electric available - no water or sewer hookups. But we were only there for 2 nights so did not need them. There are walking trails (some paved) , disc golf, and archery targets. There is a nice shower house but also pit toilets available closer to some of the loops. OTA TV worked fine. - akeller156
Sep 2017 - $18.00
We were there for 8 days over Labor Day and enjoyed the small town charm of Dell Rapids and the surrounding area. No dump site but the gas station in town offers free dumping. No wi fi until next year (perhaps) but the library has great wi fi even from their parking lot. - phoenixcampers
Jul 2017 - $18.00
This is just a small park at the baseball field. It was not easy to find since the only address I could find for the park was wrong. It is on South Garfield Avenue. 14 OTA channels. Verizon data service was fine. Electrical and water hookups for $18. Can't beat that. - lb0456
