Convenient to I-80 (14 mile drive which cuts through a scenic section of the National Park). Nicely laid out with many large trees (hard to come by in this part of the country). Check-in service was excellent. There is a small kitchen out back that sells hamburgers and tacos in the evening and bacon and eggs in the morning for those interested. There is a campground in the National Park which is priced about the same but has no trees at all and limited number of sites with service. Park was quiet at night and all campers and park staff were friendly and courteous. Recommend it for overnight or extended stay. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

We do not stay at KOAs and for me the value is not there. The grounds were clean and well kept and staff friendly. The bathrooms were clean and lots of hot water but the showers were small and quite cramped especially with the folded chair open to hold your stuff, as there is no bench and few hooks. The water also backed up and did not drain well.

Food at the "kookshack" was bad at best. The value was not there either as for $48 we hand only water and electric and no sewer hookup. The site however was quite big and lots of room between sites for us. I don't think I would stay here again. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Campground is dusty, but they are in a drought, so they can't be blamed too much. The staff at check-in was very friendly and helpful, and we were escorted to our site. It was 100 degrees, so we were happy to have some shade at our site. All utilities worked well, water pressure was good. There was no cell service here, no surprise. They warned us that their internet would probably slow down as the campground was full, but we were happy to see that it never did. The internet at our site at least was great. We would come here again if visiting the Badlands. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

An older rural KOA, but well-kept given it's location. Sites are partially to fully shaded and spacing is acceptable but not generous. Our pull-through site had sewer connection at back of site and water/electric at middle of site, which necessitated using a sewer hose extension. Water must be very hard here, or their softener needs backflushing, as the water had a distinct salty taste. No cable or OTA TV available. WIFI was slower at night but almost always usable - still, plan your web browsing for some time other than 6-10pm. Staff was very friendly. There are a large number of no-utility sites at rear of the park. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The very small town of Interior - 4 miles away, on the way to Badlands NP - has one grocery store with limited items for sale, and one station with gas and diesel. And the Wagon Wheel bar which is friendly and offers hamburgers and pizza (didn't try them though...). There is a cafe/gift shop which is good for lunch and OK for dinner.

Some shaded sites but ours just had a dead tree. More trees than other campgrounds we saw in the area. This campground is in a low area and there is no cell service and the WiFi does not work. Picnic tables are surrounded on three sides by timbers which end up being a tripping hazard, especially in the dark. The pool looked ok and the kids looked like they were having fun at the playground and riding the pedal carts. The store is nice and sells cooked food. The staff is nice. Worst problem is their electrical service. Our surge protector shut off our electricity and gave us messages that the voltage was low. Staffs excuse was that everyone was running their ACs. Our only option if we wanted to have power was to take our electrical protection off. That didn't make us happy. We've never had problems with our surge protector before or after. The problem was definitely the campground's electrical system. The site next to us had the water and electricity on separate sides of the site. That camper was not happy trying to get his hose from the water to his camper. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pretty Good Park with nice large shade trees. Only real negative was the food served at their breakfast---pretty awful. We stayed at other KOA's with much better breakfast food. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Lot size was pretty narrow, and not quite long enough for our 36' MH + toad. Site was dirt with a little bit of sparse grass. Roads were dirt and tight but passable. Hookups were good, but water pressure was low. WiFi signal was poor, but even with a signal booster in our MH, the internet connection was useless. I wouldn't stay here again, unless nothing else was available. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a nice KOA with very nice staff. You need to be aware that you must cross through the Badlands National Park to get to the KOA and there is a $20 fee unless you have a federal senior pass. Also the KOA is about 14 miles from the highway and the last four miles is bumpy in a motor home. Otherwise it is a very nice park with lots of activities. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

The Badlands National Park is truly a wonder of the world. Recommend driving the rim road at 6 AM for best lighting and animal airings. You are also close to Wall Drug if you like that sort of thing.

What a friendly staff this KOA has! The park itself is very nice as well. Pool was being redone so we didn't swim. Lots of places to walk the dogs. It was early in the season, so not terribly crowded. Extremely well cared for, after each camper departed, picnic tables were scrubbed down. I have NEVER seen that and we have stayed in many RV parks. A real oasis in the badlands with its proximity to the White River, plenty of trees and shade. Would definitely recommend and would stay again! We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a great place to stay when visiting the Badlands National Park. It's typical for a KOA - gravel roads and sites, playground for the kids, gift shop, etc. It could be maintained better, but the location and friendly staff make this place a good choice. Would most definitely stay here again. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

One of the nicest KOAs we have stayed in. In the middle of the badlands, but many shade trees, good WiFi, extremely friendly staff. Typical gravel sites but grass in between. All pull throughs, level sites. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Badlands/White River KOA. It is truly an oasis in the desert. It's close to the Badlands National Park, but in a very quiet location. Large dog run. Helpful, friendly owners. Plenty of room for a big rig motor coach. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent location, with plenty of nice shade trees along the White River and just a few minutes from the entrance to Badlands NP. The staff was friendly, the campground was very neat, and although some of the facilities (bathrooms/showers) are dated, they were clean. The park offers about a dozen channels via cable.

We were able to get cell service (4G on AT&T) towards the front of the park, which is good considering the remote location. The park does offer several Wi-Fi spots. They worked near the main buildings but not anywhere else.

We liked our site, it was reasonably spacious, but most importantly the numerous mature trees gave us relief from the summer sun. (Other loops were wide open with no cover.) One notable quirk was the sewer connection at the far *front* of our site rather than the back of the site where our sewer outlet is located. We managed using an extra length of hose.

We stayed two nights in site #10. We would happily return. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Without a doubt, this was the worst experience we have ever had at a KOA is 26 years of RVing. We had stayed here about 9 years ago, but started staying closer to I-90 to save a gallon or two of gas. Unfortunately, I decided to try this park again. We did not know that there are new owners as of 2 years ago. We called and reserved a FHU site that was supposed to be satellite friendly (their website says some sites are satellite friendly). After check in, we were led to a site with a large tree next to it and huge branch right over the front section of the RV's roof and satellite dome). When I mentioned this to our guide, he pleaded ignorance to what we were supposed to get and suggested that we might get satellite if we move all the way to the front of the site. I did so, but still could not get reception. We had to walk back to the office and they said they had NO FHU satellite friendly sites. After asking for our money back, they offered us a FHU site in the overflow area. That was satellite friendly but the closest sewer was 35" away. They LIED to us when we made the reservation (tell the customer we have what he wants), when we arrived (Oops, no FHU sites with satellite), and when we complained (there is 1 FHU site in the overflow). The park has good facilities and very good recreational amenities, but the way we were LIED to was totally unacceptable. In addition to everything else, we did not have cable TV at the overflow site and could not use the WIFI there. NO surprise - it was Tengo. This park should be a 7 or 8, being LIED to at every turn brings it down to a 2. There is some recycling. The site we ended up with was not worth the $37 or the 1 hour hassle to get it. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.
