This park calls itself a KOA Holiday park, but it's more like a typical KOA Journey. Roads and sites are gravel. Our premium pull-through was just long enough for our 40' MH and our toad. Because the sewer connection was so far back, we had to put the MH at the back of the site to avoid a very long sewer run. That meant that our toad had to be parked in front which isn't so bad, except that the morning we left we had to juggle the vehicles around to hitch up the toad. The park is dusty, but that's more a reflection of the local environment than it is a criticism of the park. On the good side, the pull-through sites were wider than average. There are lots of mature trees that provide shade, but that means that satellite TV signals may be difficult to get from some sites. Our rooftop satellite dish had no problems at our site. There's virtually no Verizon signal, but there's a lot of confusion as to the AT&T signal. The park's website and even some recent reviews claim that AT&T has no data connection but, with an inexpensive amplifier we were able to stream video on AT&T every night. The internet response was slow when using a computer, but our videos streamed without any rebuffering issues. The park admits its wifi gets bogged down on busy nights. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

3 nights A lovely level site. Wifi not very good at all and no AT&T connection. The food was lovely. We had buffalo burgers and a pizza. There were a lot of mosquito's and bitting flyies. The camp store was well stocked. Laundry $2 and 50c for 15miutes dryer. Only three washing machines and 2 dryers. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

The badlands national park is wonderful and can be seen in one day. Longer if you are going to walk the trails. A trip to Wall to have a look and lunch is worth it.

This KOA is located in a tree-line ravine just south of the Badlands Park. It looked like the best campground compared to others servicing the park because all the others seemed completely out in the open and pretty sparse. This was nicely shaded with grassy areas. Site were level gravel, although they could have been better cared for. Like most KOAs it was not luxurious but had lots going on - pool, game area, dog park. It was good to have a lot of kids around rather than only retirees like us. There were all types of campers from tents to large motorhomes. Restrooms were clean, although they could have used more. Cell phone and internet service were non-existent in this valley. Its also far from "civilization". We had a vet emergency which required driving 1.5 hrs to Rapid City (everything worked out okay in the end). We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Most entrances to the RV park are via the National Park. About 11 miles from the interstate. Large park. Friendly check in. We had an electrical issue upon hook up and the park owner and his onsite electrician were at my site in 15 minutes and changed out the breaker - end of problems. Great service. Large staff. Lots of activities for kids. On site "restaurant" is not bad and covers the basics. The town of Interior has virtually no services - save for a few hamburger/pizza places. Bring your own supplies!! Site was 120 feet long - obviously pull thru. Roads/site were all crushed gravel - no problem leveling but very dusty. We had a great site for satellite. This was a deluxe site - nice patio, swing, chairs etc. and worth the extra few dollars. This is a pretty arid, rural area so be prepared. If we were coming back I would probably stay in Spearfish and commute to the NP. It is really a nice full day tour but not much more than that for most people. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Great location for visiting the Badlands. The site was level and all hook-ups worked well. We had nice shade at our site from mature cottonwood trees which is needed this time of year. Restrooms were very clean and overall the park seemed very well maintained. Nice fenced in dog run area with a dog washing station next to it which was very nice. Only problem we had was with the mosquitos that were out in force and made any outside activity not worth the effort. Overall a good experience at this park and i would return and recommend it. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this KOA as a base for a couple days in Badlands NP. The 30A site I was in was very close to the office and between two 20A sites. The electrical hookup is very close to the front of the site, rather than the rear. Very well shaded campground. Has a new pool (not terribly large), pet wash station, pet off-leash area, mini-golf and recumbent bikes to rent. Did not try the "Cook House" as it is fairly expensive. The showers/toilets are clean. My only complaint is the size of the spot. We have a 30 ft trailer and there was not room to park my Tow vehicle at the spot. That's ok, but I was told to move my vehicle 3 times...and each time I did exactly what the employee told me...but it was wrong each time I guess. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is the place to stay if visiting the Badlands National Park. This KOA is much better than average. It is very pretty, full of big cottonwood trees. The "cotton" from the trees is so thick, it almost looks like a mild snowstorm most of the time. I think it is pretty, but it may trigger allergies. It is easily the best campground around for 80 miles. All of the lots and roads are gravel, but the sites look very flat. It is rather on the expensive side. The KOA serves breakfast and supper with a very limited menu. (The food is OK, don't expect gourmet quality.) This is good since the nearest town is population 46, with just a combination liquor store-bodega-post office, one bar and one gas station. Stock up your groceries and supplies before you come, because all the towns around are tiny ranching communities with just a small convenience store, if that. There are 14 cable channels. All cell phones are spotty and can drop calls since this is down in a river valley. I was able to make (Sprint cell) calls sitting in one particular spot at the picnic table. The WiFi here is good. It is unlikely dish TV will work here--heavy tree cover. The sites are a little on the short side. Big rigs with a tow will fit, but it will be tight. There is plenty of room for everyone's pullouts. The park is good for walking dogs and they have a fenced area to go off-leash. (A doggie park.) The staff is friendly and helpful. This is definitely out in the boonies; only a few ranchers a day drive by on the highway. I love it. I would come here again if in the area. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a great location to visit the Badlands. You can drive the loop practically from your doorstep. The sites are wide and level and there are lots of old cottonwoods. The only downside, other than price, was that the wifi seemed to work only about 5 minutes an hour. I went to notify the office and the staff was pretty much disinterested. The lack of wifi and total no service on the phone [Sprint] leaves you fairly isolated. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

BEWARE: GPS will not take you to this park--although if you use your phone GPS it might work. The problem with finding the park is the sign that tells you which KOA it is can't be read easily from the road. We couldn't see the "badlands" or "white river" because they are written in black steel or something above the KOA Holiday sign. We didn't think it was our KOA. That said, the park itself is decent. Really nice dog park inside. Sites are level with gravel. But the pull-throughs are not necessarily long enough for your vehicle and tow. Ours wasn't. The website info wasn't accurate. Only the sites with fancy patios would have held our 40 ft with tow. We had to park nearby. The campground workers are extremely nice and helpful. One other warning: we started to walk the dog near tent sites along the side of the property the first night we got there and a HUGE rattlesnake was lying in the grass. BE careful! We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Convenient to I-80 (14 mile drive which cuts through a scenic section of the National Park). Nicely laid out with many large trees (hard to come by in this part of the country). Check-in service was excellent. There is a small kitchen out back that sells hamburgers and tacos in the evening and bacon and eggs in the morning for those interested. There is a campground in the National Park which is priced about the same but has no trees at all and limited number of sites with service. Park was quiet at night and all campers and park staff were friendly and courteous. Recommend it for overnight or extended stay. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.

Some shaded sites but ours just had a dead tree. More trees than other campgrounds we saw in the area. This campground is in a low area and there is no cell service and the WiFi does not work. Picnic tables are surrounded on three sides by timbers which end up being a tripping hazard, especially in the dark. The pool looked ok and the kids looked like they were having fun at the playground and riding the pedal carts. The store is nice and sells cooked food. The staff is nice. Worst problem is their electrical service. Our surge protector shut off our electricity and gave us messages that the voltage was low. Staffs excuse was that everyone was running their ACs. Our only option if we wanted to have power was to take our electrical protection off. That didn't make us happy. We've never had problems with our surge protector before or after. The problem was definitely the campground's electrical system. The site next to us had the water and electricity on separate sides of the site. That camper was not happy trying to get his hose from the water to his camper. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

An older rural KOA, but well-kept given it's location. Sites are partially to fully shaded and spacing is acceptable but not generous. Our pull-through site had sewer connection at back of site and water/electric at middle of site, which necessitated using a sewer hose extension. Water must be very hard here, or their softener needs backflushing, as the water had a distinct salty taste. No cable or OTA TV available. WIFI was slower at night but almost always usable - still, plan your web browsing for some time other than 6-10pm. Staff was very friendly. There are a large number of no-utility sites at rear of the park. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The very small town of Interior - 4 miles away, on the way to Badlands NP - has one grocery store with limited items for sale, and one station with gas and diesel. And the Wagon Wheel bar which is friendly and offers hamburgers and pizza (didn't try them though...). There is a cafe/gift shop which is good for lunch and OK for dinner.

Campground is dusty, but they are in a drought, so they can't be blamed too much. The staff at check-in was very friendly and helpful, and we were escorted to our site. It was 100 degrees, so we were happy to have some shade at our site. All utilities worked well, water pressure was good. There was no cell service here, no surprise. They warned us that their internet would probably slow down as the campground was full, but we were happy to see that it never did. The internet at our site at least was great. We would come here again if visiting the Badlands. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Motorhome.
