I want to say first of all that the staff here is absolutely fantastic! They were exceptionally friendly, and were very helpful when it came to setting up and asking for things to do in the area.

There were some things about the camp that could be improved on. The site we were on wasn't level. It was a gravel site, and I didn't bring any leveling boards. That could be a novice camper mistake, but I haven't had that issue elsewhere. The biggest problem I had was the water pressure. The site we were on, it did have full hook-ups, but I ended up filling my onboard water tank to have adequate pressure. We stayed four nights, and my first two showers were with drizzling water. Also, they do advertise free WiFi, but I was unable to connect throughout the duration. Finally, the sites are very close together, so if you're looking for privacy, and they have a high occupancy, you won't get it.

The campsite was clean and well kept. They were in the middle of doing some site maintenance, which isn't a big deal to me because we were exploring a lot of tourist attractions and not staying on property all day. They also had a complimentary cup of coffee for us each morning at the cafe, which was very nice.

Again, the staff was very friendly, and they helped make the trip enjoyable. Their attitudes helped level out some of the problems I felt were at the site.

Oh, and the wolves were kind of neat, hearing them howl was expected, so it wasn't annoying at all. The owner was extremely pet friendly too! We camped at Wolf Camp Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We made it to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse on day 1. Day 2 found us at Old MacDonald's Petting Farm, the South Dakota Air & Space Museum, and then to Bear Country (a drive through zoo). Day 3 was a trip to Sturgis. There was a lot more to do in the area.

Don't follow GPS to navigate to get there. We drove the 16A road south of Mt. Rushmore and I do not advise you to drive this road in an RV. The road is extremely curvy and there are a few really narrow and short tunnels to navigate through. A portion of the road is very tight in width and the shoulder is a few inches drop so quite tough in a 30' motorhome to navigate through. There are a few RV sites with hookups but navigating to park in them is tight and tricky. The owner guided me and I ended up smashing my cargo bay door to my propane and now it is really difficult to open the door. The wolves were nice to see and the campground is nestled away in a valley surrounded by the Black Hills. We camped at Wolf Camp Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is very convenient to Custer State Park and the Needles Highway. It has a few RV full hook-up sites with 30amp. They also have cabins and tent sites and a very nice pavilion. The grounds are beautiful. The camp name is derived from the pair of wolves who make their fenced-off home here. The owner/managers are very nice and helpful. For 4th of July they had a BBQ for all that was great fun. We camped at Wolf Camp Campground in a Motorhome.
