7 Parks near Mitchell, South Dakota
Sep 2016 - $34.00
Stayed here for only one night so we could visit the Corn Palace. It was a good stop for us. Right on the lake, friendly and efficient management, level sites of varying sizes. Ours was a long pull through, with plenty of space for our 38' motor home and toad. Some sites were pretty close together, and designed for small rigs. Bathrooms were clean. Convenient location with easy in-out. Plenty of services nearby. We would stay here again for a night or two if passing through. - MissMyGolden
Jul 2016 - $35.00
This is a municipal campground with roads, while easy to navigate, can be a bit tight with a few low hanging branches which high-profile rigs need to watch. Surprisingly quiet over the July 4th weekend. Manager extremely nice! - dandd
Jul 2015 - $30.00
We had to move the picnic table just to be able to back into our site. There were numerous tents camping all together just across from our site and the quiet hours were not enforced. When a fifth wheel parked beside us his slides were extremely close to ours. We would not stay here again. - leclay
Sep 2016 - $33.00
We stayed over the Memorial Weekend. The park is well laid out with easy in and out with the toad still attached. The site was level and gravel. There were two sewer connections. No Cable and we were able to get 2 over the air stations (most of the time) NBC and Antenna TV. There was a pool and a miniature golf course and the staff was friendly and helpful. - PBD
Aug 2016 - $46.00
This is a nice park close enough to I-90 for easy on/off access but far enough that road noise isn't a big issue. We were escorted to our site. Sites are close together but we've been in parks much worse. Wifi worked well for our stay. No cable TV. New K-9 off leash area, divided in two so dogs can be on both sides. We would stay here again if passing through the area. - 69636
Jul 2016 - $30.00
We stayed for two nights and had no problems. Sites are a little tight but location ideal for visit to Mitchell. - Rmpbap
Aug 2016 - $35.00
We stayed overnight in a pull through. RV park is located behind the Days Inn. No instructions given for entering our site and the layout was a bit confusing. Trash can located at your site. Plenty of walking area for your pet. Permanent residents sites were messy. I would stay again if nothing else was available. - Ginger C Brown
Jul 2016 - $30.00
A quiet simple stop on the road. The wifi only works near the office. The office staff is nice, but doesn't understand RVs. She attempted to put us into a spot that was far too short and admitted she didn't know we would have had to disconnect to fit.
She quickly gave us a spot that would work. - wetterwashington
Jul 2016 - $34.00
Small campground behind a motel. Staff were nice and helpful. Picnic table at our site, some sites had a fire ring. Down side is a $5 +tax to use the pool, at this site should be included. - roaming around
Sep 2016 - $33.00
Convenient to visit in the area. This is our 4th year to stay here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Be aware of entrance signs. The campground is behind the Super 8 motel. - pasco1215
Sep 2016 - $27.00
Interior roads and sites were dirt/gravel with very level pads, shade, good spacing and utilities placed at the middle. Sites had grassy area with picnic table and fire ring. Camp hosts are nice and friendly. It had been rainy and they made a point of knowing which sites were muddy and put campers in dry sites. No recycling available. Noise is low, WiFi coverage was very good, as was Verizon Cell signal. We were just staying one night so we went to see the Corn Palace. My GPS had a hard time finding this CG... told me it was "off road" and routed me all over the place. It can find the Super-8 Motel just fine. - FreeWheeler
Sep 2016 - $32.00
We were very pleasantly surprised by this "motel" campground which turned out to be a REAL campground and not a parking lot. Park sites were better than average with nice shade (or not as desired) ...and the hostess was exceptionally helpful. Cable & internet were fine.
A fine stop for the night off I-90.
Note that the entrance to the park is not obvious. Go the the left side of the motel by the gas station...and drive straight back to the park office. - Camaraderie
Aug 2016 - $28.00
We had a one night stay after getting delayed a day at our previous stop. The owner was so nice about it and didn't charge us. He held our mail for us. Park was treed but easy for us to maneuver. Folks next to us use the park often. We would return if we ever get back here. - Meme508
Aug 2016 - $26.00
Stopped for and over night and stayed 3 days. This has to be the most family oriented park I have been to. The owner wants a family park not a party place and works at keeping it that way. One of the friendliest owner I have met. Also had Military discounts for our protectors. - Edd505
Jul 2016 - $26.00
This older campground is very clean and very well run. The campsites are shady (a nice feature during the hot weather), level and large. We stayed here two times, once in both directions on our trip to South Dakota. The pool has concrete sides, which was a bit unusual, but it is super clean and so refreshing. I can't say enough about how helpful and pleasant the staff was to work with. We liked it enough to stay here a second time. - ShoreXplorers
Aug 2016 - $33.00
We picked this campground because they wrote on their website about the: "All new showers."
The campground has a lot of trees, most sites are shady.
The sites are gravel with a little bit of grass on each side, and provides a picnic table.
The owner was very friendly. Offered me to enjoy a shower in his brand new showers and escorted me to a small site in the last corner of the campground. (Much nicer sites were free and stays free over the night.)
Over all the campground was OK for one night and I would have given 8 points. The reason for only 6 points is that they lied on the website and state to my face about the showers.
Only the paint on the walls and the shower curtains were new. The rest was old and really not up to date. (The only good thing was the cleanliness.) - Columbus
Aug 2016 - $33.00
The owners have owned this campground for years. They are friendly and made check in so easy. We were escorted to our site which was plenty long enough for a 40 motor home towing. Site is packed gravel with hookups easily placed. Green grass and many shade trees, but we could get satellite. Plenty of room to walk the dogs. We will definitely return when we are in this area. - Full timer with dogs
Jul 2016 - $29.00
Staff was friendly and check in was easy. We were led to our site. The campground roads were easy to navigate (with a 38 ft motorhome pulling a Jeep). This campground has lots of well shaded sites that are reasonably spaced. Some sites only have 30 amp service, so when making a reservation be sure to request 50 amp if you need it. The Wi-Fi was too slow to be of any use. Our site recommendation would be site #11. If you can get it, you won't have another camping unit to your right, just a nice grassy area. - Thor MC
Oct 2016 - $20.00
Self check-in although owner stopped in to assist. PA honored for multiple nights. Nice park with excellent satellite and cell service. WiFi never worked even though we were parked directly under the tower. Still, for the price, FHU is a great value. Park has a pool but was closed during our stay. All pull-thru gravel sites, fairly level. Picnic table, lots of grassy areas for dog walking. Would stay again. - lovinretirement
Aug 2016 - $20.00
This is my 3rd visit to this campground. Close to interstate so easy to find. Great price. The owner checked us in. Very friendly host. Will honor PPA price for multiple days Plenty room for pets. Good satellite access. WIFI was good. 50 amp was available on every site and had great connection. Level was good and all are pull through sites. Was going to stay 1 night, but ended up staying 3. Very little noise! Will stay again! - bradensouthcarolina
Jul 2016 - $20.00
We recently stayed 2 nights on a weekend. All the sites are gravel with grass between sites, all pull thrus with either 30 or 50 amp and full hook ups. Each site has a tree that provides some shade. Lots of space between sites. Internal roads were easy to navigate. It's right off the interstate but noise was minimal. Self check-in is in the laundry room next to the pool. We paid the Passport America rate of $20 per night, then picked our site. They aren't assigned. The laundry room looked clean, the bathhouse did not. We didnt use the facilities. It was a hot weekend, the park was packed and so was the pool. There are a few permanent rigs in one row but nothing unsightly. Free WiFi but weak the further away you are from the laundry room. No playground, no off leash dog park, no cable tv. It's a good place to stop for a day or two. Very convenient to interstate. We'd stay here again. - Flippitti
