We stayed at Mitchell KOA for one night. It has a park like atmosphere. Long gravel pull through sites surrounded by grass and trees. Lots of open space. They were just opening for the season and the park was pretty quiet. Pool was not open, etc. Sites all had picnic tables. One problem was no cable TV and no over the air channels. Too many trees at our site for satellite. Also next to a cow pasture with some odor, but not terrible. Would have no problems staying here again. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

A sweet country rv park, large meadows with cows. Clean as a pin, gentleman could not have been nicer. We stayed in spot c19 and had excellent satalite reception. Several restaurants in town, we chose Mexican which was very good. A great overnight stop on our way to Custer. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

Staying here in May presented no problems without reservations. The tree lined roads and grassy sites were inviting. The pull through sites were a bit close but comfortable. They have a great area to walk dogs on leashes and a dog park for the off leash time. Wifi is excellent and people friendly. A great stop along I-90 headed east or west. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is within 3 miles of the Corn Palace which is in the listing of 1000 places to see before you die. It's interesting and shows how a town can show it's economic roots while utilizing a building the rest of the year. A fun stop people should do.

Nice park, lots of shade, good interior roads, hosts very friendly and helpful. Stayed here twice a week apart. First time, very quiet, second time middle of Memorial Day weekend, park full and my site was very close to others, had 50 amp first time, but had to accept 30 amp site second time due to crowds. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed over the Memorial Weekend. The park is well laid out with easy in and out with the toad still attached. The site was level and gravel. There were two sewer connections. No Cable and we were able to get 2 over the air stations (most of the time) NBC and Antenna TV. There was a pool and a miniature golf course and the staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It is about a 3 mile drive to downtown Mitchell and the "World Famous Corn Palace" which was interesting to visit. There is a Walmart and Cabelas in Mitchell. I would stay here again if in the area.

This is a nice park close enough to I-90 for easy on/off access but far enough that road noise isn't a big issue. We were escorted to our site. Sites are close together but we've been in parks much worse. Wifi worked well for our stay. No cable TV. New K-9 off leash area, divided in two so dogs can be on both sides. We would stay here again if passing through the area. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Mitchell is only 3 miles away. The Corn Palace is worth visiting. There is a WalMart at the next exit, west of the park and a fuel station that's big rig friendly.

We aren't KOA kampers. We tried over the years but aside from a few times, we've never left feeling good. This was no exception. We booked online and some of the site options said they didn't fit our rig (TT and truck) which didn't make sense since the description of those sites was big enough. We assumed perhaps they were already booked. We booked a pull-thru, W/E. The site was woefully too short and KOA-tiny. The worker who led us to our site just shrugged and said sorry. There were long enough sites open and still were the next morning, too.

Which leads me to my next KOA experience - I feel that way too often the workers are anything but excited about their jobs. I don't get it and I don't like it. Be happy to see us, try to accommodate us better.

There are sites here that are big, spacious, nicely situated. We didn't get one of those. All we wanted, and thought we booked, was a site long enough for our TT and truck to be left hooked up - not possible.

The bathrooms were fine, but dated and slightly musty. Typical KOA. The mini-golf is beat up and old looking, the pool is tiny. The fire pit was stuck in the tiniest strip of grass between ours and the next camper. We kept our fingers crossed that the people next to us wouldn't use there fire pit as it was almost under our slide out. Picnic table useable but old.

Location is nice and easy access, but there are campgrounds closer to Mitchell and the attractions than this one.

I don't want to say don't camp here, just don't expect a whole bunch. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The sites were very tight and the place seemed like it could use some updating. We requested to be next to another camper in our group in the reservation and they made no attempt to satisfy the request (seemed a bit lazy). The place had a foul odor, not sure what it was from but smelled like sewer. I would not stay here again. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We only stayed the one night as they had a rodeo in town. They were accommodating when I called to fit our rig, 39' rig. Nothing special, friendly enough. I think they could do better with PR. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park near Mitchell SD. We stopped here a couple of days on our trip east. We went to see the Corn Palace and the archeological park here in town. The RV park is not large, but has plenty of amenities and was quite full when we were there. Large dog park. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground, conveniently located to I-90. Sites were easy access, level, and pull through. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and shower were very clean, but starting to show their age (such as needing some repainting and TLC). We didn't use the pool, but it looked fine. One negative, though: there's a small cattle lot adjacent to the park (on the west side, I think), and the prevailing winds from time to time brought a cattle-ish aroma and flies wafting onto the campground. I guess that's the price of camping in cattle country, and it wasn't unbearable, just noticeable. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

Beautiful clean campground with spacious shaded sites. No cable and we opted for a shady site so our satellite does not work. We stayed for 1 night and requested a pull thru site. The only one that was available was one with only 30 amps, but we were ok with this. Friendly staff and would definitely recommend this park. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice long pull-thru with big shade trees, good and level. Fire pits & picnic tables. Swimming pool, nice laundry room. Place was full on Fri & Sat, but sure emptied out early on Sun! Nice and quiet here, no noise at all. Good secure WiFi. No cable, and never even tried the antenna for the TV. Nice cool breeze, sure needed it for the 90+ degree weather. ;-)

We had a few worries pulling into this KOA when the first thing we saw pulling in was a long entry road about 100 yards long was all dusty dirt. Not gravel and dirt, just dirt. We pulled in to find that there were only 5 sites in the park that were 50 amp, and we didn't get one. And only about half of the sites had either water, or sewer, but not both. There were a few full hook up sites, but none were available. The grass was long and needed mowing, and the site was all fairly soft dirt. While setting up one couldn't escape the unmistakable hum of the giant wind turbine next door. When the wind slowed, the next surprise was the invasion of black flies. It seems as though the property right next door is a pasture for a large herd of cows. And along with cows, comes the fragrant odor of cow manure. Fortunately this was a two day stop, but we did pay a way too high $45.74 a night for an electric and water site. You know that what the campground is like when one of the FAQ's in the campground brochure is: Question, Does the wind blow all the time here? Answer, Yes, all the time! Our Verizon air card work OK, and there was park Wifi offered. I didn't get a chance to check out the restrooms. The area was quiet at night though. We camped at Mitchell KOA in a Motorhome.
