Don't know why more people haven't reviewed since 2016. We stayed a week in June & moved to our mailing service in Box Elder for a week but they kept having to move us & w/4 slides thats a pain. We decided for the last week or 2 of our stay, we would move back up here to Piedmont. Were here for 4th of July & being the Campground literately is on I-90, across the highway was a fireworks store. For 3 nights leading up to the 4th & on the 4th we had awesome fireworks show. The campground is roomy, plenty of spaces and space between, picnic tables, (had fire rings but SD is under a no fire law right now with drought, so they removed them) There is a mobile home park on the far side of the restaurant and the campgrounds on the other far side of the restaurant. There is a $1.20 washer and a free dryer. Nice clear and clean (but very busy) swimming pool. Some trees, some spaces are shaded, some out in the open, some partial shade. There are TeePees to rent and little cabins with small porches and rockers on them. There are permanent RVers here in much much older RVs but areas around their RVs are pretty clean and neat. For some reason I-90 traffic is not alot and we never hear any of it unless we sit outside but then it isn't like you can't hear each other type noise. It is family owned and they are all welcoming and pleasant. Very easy going. Restaurant has a minimal menu. More like a bar menu...but reasonable and the few times we tried it, their food was good. A few sites are not level enough for big rigs but while here they were putting out more rocks and dirt to help with that. But there are plenty of sites so if you are large like us 40' with toad, you will find spaces with and without shade. BTW, the spaces you have seen mentioned that have canopies, they are wood canopies with concrete decks but are very limited & cost more. Wifi is good but not secure. AT&T worked great. We like it here alot and if we came back to the area, we would stay here in a heartbeat. We camped at Sacora Station Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You are only 10 -15 mins from Rapid City. 15 mins from the Air Force Base Museum. About 45mins from Custer where Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore and many other sites. An hour away from Wall Drugs in Wall, SD as well as the Badlands As big as Rapid City is, there is only Walmart Super Store to shop for food and for us...it didn't have a whole lot to offer. The camping world is in Summerset which is just 2-3 miles from Piedmont but is more about selling RV's than product.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground for the price. Some sites are gravel, some are grass. A few sites have a patio with a small roof over them. Also a restaurant/bar with great people, drinks, and food. Wifi worked well for the campground, we were the week after sturgis so the place was only about half full. We camped at Sacora Station Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Skip the Camping World in town, all the workers seemed lost and confused. Check out Jacks Campers, they have comparable prices and a staff thats actually knowledgable.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is between Rapid City and Sturgis. We stayed at a cabin for a few nights then a tent site for over a week.

Rates are unbeatable: $50 a night for an air-conditioned, medium sized cabin with two Queen sized beds, which includes a fridge/freezer.

The $10 per night tent sites (that's right: 10 bucks a night), include electric, lots of space and a covered picnic table.

There are several buildings with bathrooms and showers, somewhat outdated looking but fully functional.

Owners are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you out if you are in a bind. They are laid back and leave you alone.

Nice little restaurant/bar on campground premise with good food and good people. No noise from the bar/restaurant as it is someways away from the campground.

Downside: somewhat close to I-90, but at night the hwy is pretty quiet.

Friendly residents, friendly owners: nice little place in an otherwise barren and inhospitable land.

Also free wifi (no password) rocked in the tent site area. We camped at Sacora Station Campground in a Motorhome.
