Beautiful Pool, nice country-style store being renovated, friendly staff. Bathroom/Shower area HORRIBLE. Absolutely disgusting, outdated, slimy walls, hair on shower walls, peeling paint, rotting wood, rusty/corroded fittings, poor temp control in showers, missing drain covers, dirty floors, dirty walls, dirty sinks. Bring a self-contained rig and use your own bath facilities. Bring your bathing suit though as the pool is pristine and new looking. New pool could've waited, updated bath/shower house should be priority. Wishing we had not paid in full for several days on first day & could have left. Pull-through sites not angled, stepped out door of trailer to picnic table next to neighbors sewer connection. Poor spacing between sites, had to drive over grass (as instructed) to negotiate turns. Firepits next to vehicles with just enough space to put your chair against your vehicle to enjoy a fire - dangerously close to rigs. Half of campground serviced with porta potties and no shade trees at all. Very disappointed. WiFi was adequate. Location was nice, views were nice. I took photos and will add them to the review. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Travel Trailer.

Very well maintained and managed. Facilities were old but clean. Good General store. Best picnic tables we've seen. Level gravel sites and roads. Conveniently located to all activities. Quiet. Definitely stay here again. Pool for the kids. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Needles highway drive into Custer state park is a must. Of course Mt. Rushmore visit is good. We visited Crazy Horse again after 7 years and was quite disappointed in lack of progress. Alpine Inn is an outstanding place to eat a filet. Pretty far drive from the rv park to badlands so you might stay closer.

We had a flat, level, gravel, pull through site. There was grass on both sides. There was a picnic table. We received heavy thunder storms every day; the park drained well. The park is about 21 miles from Rapid City. The park is in he woods, in the middle of the Black Hills. The camp is much closer to Silver City. AT&T and WI-FI worked well. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable in suggesting ways to link sight seeing attractions in the area. The spot was about 60 feet long. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Travel Trailer.

This park was a convenient location for me while visiting friends just up the road in Silver City. Staff was very friendly and assisting me getting into my site, which had recently received additional gravel to support my rig's weight. The site only had 30 amp service, but worked out fine since the weather was not that warm. My only complaint with the park was that I was never asked if I had a Good Sam membership, which they only honor if the customer requests it on arrival. Once you've registered, it's too late to ask. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

The owners are very nice people. The owner noticed my husband working on our trailer and came over to check on him. He loaned him supplies needed to help fix the problem. The park is clean and quiet. My kids liked riding their biked through the park. The pool was small but very clean. Full hook-ups and level spots. Nice grass but no trees at spots. It wasn't a problem though, because the weather is beautiful here. About 30 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. I recommend this place. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 3 nights in a 50 amp site, no sewer but a dump station. There are also 30 amp (many of the 30 amp sites have full hookups) and tent sites plus a couple of small cabins. Plenty of grass and well kept. Owner was very helpful and friendly. This is an excellent location if you are in the area to see the local attractions - about midway between the Deadwood/Sturgis area and the Mt. Rushmore/Custer State Park area. Pet and motorcycle friendly. Would be happy for the opportunity to stay here again. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful little park that is very close to everything you want to see in this part of the country. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They will guide you to your site if necessary, and then help you to get level and are quick to pull out the boards and pads so your jacks won't sink into the soil. I stayed here for almost a week and can find nothing negative to say about it. The rain, though... oh the rain! Not the campground's fault, certainly. They were right there to help though, when another motor home got stuck and immediately filled the soft spots with gravel. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

Overall a nice park. The sites are grassy and although not spacious, they are not crammed together either. Sites are fairly level. There has been lots of rain in the area and the sites were a little soft, but not bad. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They do have a swimming pool but we did not use it. There were lots and lots of kids in the park so I would say it is a family friendly place. Kids were riding their bicycles around and there was just a lot of kid noise, but overall a very nice park. There are FHU and water/elect sites and tent sites. Could use more FHU sites. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Fifth Wheel.

Let me start by saying that we travel utilizing campground cabins for the majority of our traveling. Regarding this campground, the cabin was fairly decent, however the mattress/pads were VERY thin. When you lay on the pad, you can feel the wood underneath! The restroom/showers were by far the worst That my family and I have ever used. The shower stalls were especially disgusting! I would gladly pay twice the price to stay at a campground with clean facilities. I would NEVER stay at Whispering Pines Campground ever again. In fact, I forfeit a second nights prepayment to go to a nearby KOA with clean facilities. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Cabin.

Very well run and quiet campground.

Owners are hard working and honest folks who live on site and are aware of what goes on, making us feel very secure.

Owner personally escorts you to your site and brings out his own wood blocks and gets you settled in. Quick & easy setup. Campground is centrally located in the Black Hills, making it a great base camp to work from.

Upon getting ready to leave, we realized our 32,000# coach had sunk into soft ground due to heavy rains. The owner immediately went to work (on his birthday) shuffling wood under our jacks & tires and doing everything he could to get us out. No need to call a tow truck and no charge to us. Treated us as family. Would absolutely stay again when in the area. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

New owners and super friendly. Very helpful with information about drives in and around Rushmore. Campsite was grass and luckily ours was level. Some of the others didn't look so good. That said, the owner was right there helping us level out. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Travel Trailer.

Great park with grassy pull-through sites and easy access to the park . Location is perfect for the area half way between the Mt. Rushmore area and the Sturgis Deadwood area. Owners are super nice and helpful. Setting is in a meadow with pine hills all around. Park is quiet with good security lighting at night. Would defiantly stay here again when in the area. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was the perfect location for visiting both the Mt. Rushmore area and Deadwood. Even though it was located adjacent to a highway, it was very quiet and peaceful. This is an older park and has quite a few sites, however, the owner indicated they will be removing every other site to allow for even more space between rigs. As it was, there were not many rigs, which gave us an abundance of room! Sites are grass, which the dog loved. We were concerned about the wet ground and the weight of our motorhome causing a problem, but all was fine. We would gladly stay here again. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

This campground was a real "find". The current owners took over 2 years ago, and they are delightful people, who really care about the comfort and convenience of their campers. The sites are grassy, and the hookups all worked well. The Wi-Fi is great. We are here early in the season, so the store isn't fully stocked yet, but they had the basics we need. This campground is not in a busy area - they are right off Hwy 385, and are within easy driving distance to any of the sites you wish to visit. Yet, it is a peaceful place to return to (or spend the day). There are fire rings, lots of picnic tables and ample space to enjoy your camping experience. They are pet friendly, too. If we come back to this area on a camping trip, we will certainly return to Whispering Pines. We camped at Black Hills Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.
