This is our second stay at this park in two years. We planned on staying here again based off our experience a year ago which should tell you a lot about the park. Large concrete pads, perfect power/water/sewer connections. Awesome staff that is very friendly. The park is designed as a member park and much of the way it is ran is designed with that in mind. Even so staying as a guest was great both trips. Fuel is the same price as it is in town. The store has nearly everything we needed. It is close to all the sites to see. I would highly recommend this park to anyone. We had no problems with anything at the park or the park workers. The members of the park are a bit rude as they are park members which we did see both years. I suppose that happens when you are a member but it was not needed. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Mt Rushmore (One picture and out. My 12 year old called it a tourist trap!) Crazy Horse (Overpriced and not complete) Badlands( Awesome work by the park rangers doing presentations, make sure you get to one) Minute Man Museum (Lot's of information here and even a lot on Russia) Black Hills? (No idea what the draw is) Sturgis (If your a Harley fan it is a must. We stopped at the McDonnalds for our highlight! lol)

Love the park it's very well maintained lot of things to due and staff is very friendly. Down side its a member owned RV resort but the members have no say and they are constantly adding rules and taking away what camping is all about. Very disappointed in management makes you feel like they are trying to drive you out of the park if you want to stay for awhile. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Hart Ranch Camping Resort to visit Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Crazy Horse and other areas. This resort was part of the RPI system. First, they do not give you $10/night RPI rate, but do give you a substantial discount, to $18/night. The welcoming staff was very nice and had a great sense of humor. The park is very well laid out and there is grass and plenty of space between and behind all sites. There are also trash cans at every other site so trash is very convenient. This park is great for dogs due to the grass but also because there is a small and a very large dog park. There are restrictions of where you are allowed to bring the dogs but it is very well laid out. They give you a map and anything marked in yellow means no dogs plus there are signs. This is to respect other park attendees/permanent residents who don't want dogs in their area. The no dog space is to the right and is not inconvenient at all. There is also a 1.5+ mile walking path that takes you all around. Only wish is that they would have a separate adult pool. With the many children, it is hard to be at the pool without a lot of noise. We definitely will return however. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We are full time RVers and have been for 4 years. This is one of the best parks we have ever been to. Sites are concrete pad and patio, with grass. You get the best of all worlds. Sites are also quite large so you do not feel crowded. We have a 41' 5th wheel and truck. Plenty of space. Restrooms are clean and maintained. Two dog parks. Casual restaurant on site. Huge pool. Lots of things to do in the area or just relax around park. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a members park. If you become a member it is a lot less expensive, $8 per night. There is a swimming pool, three hot tubs, entertainment EVERY NIGHT; they entertain the different ages of children. It is a family type park. They have a pet section where you are free to walk the pet. There is card games to play, casino nights, music nights for the parents, water aerobics for adults 6 days a week; volleyball in the pool. Things are clean and organized. One can get married and have the reception in the shelters. They have a restaurant open daily and serves great food. Great place to bring children of any age. They can drive their bikes on the roads; have their special activities, etc. Always something to participate in if desired. ALL SITES ARE CEMENT and straight. Plenty of comfort stations to take showers, wash and dry clothes in. They are cleaned every day. Great experience. Consider coming to visit for the first time, special rate. Hart Ranch is only 14 miles from Rapid City, so it's very easy to get anything you need. There is a Hart Mart that carries some foods that one might need in a pinch to get by. There are pool tables, pickleball courts, tennis courts, miniature golf, gas pump w/some groceries. Call 605 399 2582 or 605 737 5360-Sales Dept. They will give you a special rate to come and visit Hart Ranch if you haven't been here before.

For full disclosure, we have been members here since the early 90s. We no longer live in the area, and haven't been here in over a year. This is the park that we measure all other parks by - it is a true RESORT, with all the amenities that implies. The sites are large (most are double wide concrete pads) with a sizeable grassy area between - it does not feel crowded, even when the park is full. We came to this area this trip BECAUSE of Hart Ranch. Love this place! We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is SO MUCH to do in the Black Hills, and Hart Ranch is right in the middle of all of it. Mt. Rushmore is 30 minutes away and a must-see. Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Road (wonderful drive), all the touristy places (Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens, Old MacDonald's petting Farm, Keystone, Hill City, etc, etc, etc are nearby.

We stayed here for 11 days this time, and never ran out of things to do (even though we used to live in the area, and have seen/done it before).

This is a huge park with over 400 parking pads, all neatly laid out in rows and blocks. Pad size was adequate. They warn you not to hang your trailer over the edge of the pad because it interferes with the mowing. Lots of foot and vehicle traffic. Lots of amenities. Water pressure was good. I was told the WIFI had been hit by lightening and they were waiting for a part. I left five days after it went down and it was still not working properly. Tips for other Campers:

I went on a sales visit. At the sales meeting I was told that because I had stayed at the park on a sales visit, I was required to sign a form acknowledging I would be assessed an additional $500 transfer fee if I bought a membership from anyone other than the park itself (an owner or reseller).

This is a members only campground (gatehouse with security) - however if they are not full they do allow non-members to stay there. Unfortunately they only allow for a two night stay. We would say if you have the opportunity to stay here you should. Everyone was incredibly nice and we mean everyone. The campground has some unique history to it and they even come around and give you a welcome package the first morning. Now we know it's their opportunity to pass on some sales information; however, there is no sales pitch other than to hand you the info with the free coffee cup, pen, etc.

They have a huge pool that is very clean and well maintained along with hot tubs, pickleball courts, their own gas station (with a reasonable price), camp store, etc. It is easy to get to and very close to Mt. Rushmore (20 minutes) and a number of other places. We actually visited Deadwood after we left Mt. Rushmore.

We really loved this place and if we lived closer we probably would have joined. Their quiet time is actually quiet, the bathrooms/showers are the best we've EVER been in. There were three full bathrooms inside the bathhouse - meaning in addition to the normal sinks and bathroom stalls there were also three private bathrooms. You close the door and have a vanity, toilet and sink - they even had complimentary shampoo and cream rinse on the sink. Each bathhouse was like this. Everyone picked up after their pets and the park was incredibly clean. Even the WiFi worked - although it was slow and could be spotty. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a couple nights as guests of friends who are members and our cost per night reflects that. The park is beautiful and has literally any activity you could ever wish for. The pool is magnificent. It has doggie parks. It has everything, even its own fuel station right in the park. Our utilities were as we expected with no surprises. The only thing which could be viewed as a negative are the excessive amount of very strictly enforced rules. The park is filled with very friendly, very happy people. The park is a very safe place to stay with security patrolling the park constantly. We would stay here again sometime. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

First a disclaimer...we really love and enjoy public parks (state, county, city, federal, BLM) and almost always stay at those when we can. We're between visiting a couple of great SD state parks so decided to stay someplace with full hookups, so we could do laundry. Hart Ranch was on the way, so we decided to try it. They have a deal, where if you sit through a short sales presentation, you can stay 3 nights for $95. Not cheap, but not bad. Short presentation done then off to our site. A corner lot which sounded great, but on arriving at the site (99), first problem...very short for our 43' coach and little to no room for tow parking. Don't even think about hanging the rear end of the RV over the grass!! Very small yard on passenger side with many close neighbors, but rear yard is pretty open. Tons of rules about what you can, and cannot do. Lots of traffic including cars, motorcycles, walkers, bicycles, kiddy train, scooters, golf carts, RVs, and ATVs. Not at all relaxing or quiet. We seriously do not understand the appeal of this place, except for location. Most city subdivisions have more space, less traffic, and more quiet. On the plus side? Lots to do in the area, quiet at night, pretty location, some huge dog runs, wide concrete sites, and no wood fires. We never say never, but have zero desire to stay here again. This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in our 8+ years of camping. Super friendly staff, well laid out park, great experience. They even have a gas station! There is PLENTY to do. Great pool, a place to eat, etc. Did I mention how great the staff are. Seriously the customer service was off the charts! We would stay here again and would recommend it for sure.
What would have made it a "10" would be better wifi (I know, we are camping but when you are on a cross country trip, you need the wifi) and I would recommend a larger clubhouse. With over 400 sites plus all the cabins, the clubhouse gets a bit crowded. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Whilst this is a Membership park, our rate reflects end of season visitors. This ranch has everything for the family however pool, spa and other amenities were already understandably closed. We were using Rapid City as a base to travel throughout the Badlands area and we stayed 7 nights. Facilities are excellent, sites large concrete with spacious grasslands around site and paved roads throughout. Park split into two sections. One for pets and the other for non-pets. Wi-fi was only fair but cable good. Imagine that this park would be very busy in season. We highly recommend and would stay here again. Stayed in 38ft motorhome with tow.
