There are definitely pros and cons for this place. We're in a 42' fifth wheel, and needed a place close to the airport. The good first - nice staff, grounds were pretty well maintained (I didn't get the impression it was in disrepair as other reviews said). All you can eat pancake breakfast for $2.99 every day, activities every night, including wine tasting Friday nights! Pool very clean, fenced in dog area, two laundry rooms (we used the back one near dog park). Only had 30 amp sites available, very few 50 amps on the map. Even parked at the back of the site, we still had to use a 20' sewer hose with a 10' extension. There was a dip and then an uphill slope to the sewer hookup, so we had to walk the hose to dump. Dryers in laundry room didn't work very well, so basically had to keep feeding quarters. The biggest 'con' for me was the pet fee: $2 a pet, per day. They never said anything about a fee when they asked if we had pets (most places do ask if you have pets, none have ever charged us though). So we paid $24 for our two dogs to sit and stare out the window. For that reason alone, we won't come back. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Big rig friendly. Lots of places to walk the dog. Family friendly. Stayed 2 days so we could visit the Badlands. A Must see for sure. The only negative for me was the location of the sewer. When pulled all the way forward to get jeep out of the road I was too far from the sewer. Disconnected and backed up. Not a big deal. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

Very run down park, substantial deferred maintenance. Virtually zero rock at sites and roads. It rained and my site was a muddy mess with standing water/poor drainage. Entire facility was the same. I stay at 40+ parks a year and this is the second worse I have experienced. Unfortunate, good location with services (restaurants, grocery, etc.) in reasonable close proximity. I would recommend considering one of the many other RV parks in the local area. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

We spent 3 weeks in this KOA and enjoyed our stay. We used this location as a base for visiting the area. Campground was clean and very friendly staff. Only real issue was that the wind was almost always constant and made for difficult outdoor experiences at times. Sites are easy to drive into/out of even with a long RV (44' 5th wheel). We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

While this park is close to a few attractions and the staff is friendly, it is a run down dump of a park. The website's directions to the park are obtuse and your GPS, they warn, will probably lead you to some very odd destinations.

If you must stay here, call ahead and make sure you understand how to get here. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

The park is overpriced for a 30 amp electric/water site and the sites are very close together. The fire ring on the site next to us was right under our bedroom window. Interior roads are narrow and the sites are so narrow we had trouble getting into our site. The sites have covered picnic tables and we narrowly missed hitting it trying to get in and we could not open up our awning. No cable TV at our site and wifi (Tengo) wasn't very good. Would not stay here again. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We only used this for a stopover, but the campground looked nice. I only gave it an 8 because the RV's were packed in pretty tight. WIFI worked well for us, as well as the laundry. Restrooms were as clean as can be expected (4th of July) too. It was an easy check-in process and were easily able to leave quickly & quietly in the morning. Overall a good experience. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This may be the worse $52 we have spent in 11 years! The park seems to be well maintained with large lots except lots 22-30!! They put us in lot 23. If we were here for more than one night I would have refused! The lot has old weak 30 amp service, overlooks an overflowing dumpster, and dead grass. The driveway to get to it is rutted. The picnic table for the lot next door is Under my slide. It is disgusting. As we drove around the rest of the RV park it appeared that lots 120-135 are big rig friendly and have new 50 amp service. There are many choices in Rapid City and we will definitely choose another one on our next visit. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

We picked this park as it was in the middle of Mt Rushmore and Badlands NP. This is a park with all sorts of different size sites. Our site was great. Large, some shade, good utilities. Plus being a KOA it is easy to book on line without calling. We belong to the KOA club and with the discount you get and points the rate becomes reasonable. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

We had never been to the Black Hills before. Allow plenty of time to see things there as there are lots of places to go besides Mt Rushmore. Also the Badlands NP is very much worth the drive.

We reserved a deluxe pull through site about four months ago for a ten-night stay. The website shows these sites to be paved with concrete and to have a patio and furniture. I confirmed this on the phone when the reservation was booked. We have a gravel site that has holes and ruts. No patio. When I spoke with the manager, she said it had 50 amps and that made it deluxe. Nothing else mattered. Wi-Fi is not good, either. Basically, we have uneven gravel and dead weeds. I only gave some credit because water, electricity, and cable are working. Not deluxe at all. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an old KOA with the usual short, narrow sites and tight roadways. Most sites are well worn gravel with a few Super Deluxe that have paved pads. The utilities are grouped together in the middle of the site, with most having 30 amp. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a very clean campground, from the sites, the bath and shower rooms, the laundry room and the pool area is not only clean but beautiful. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. They even had a few rental cars on site which was a blessing for us to leave our rv and drive to a few attractions. The only thing keeping this from a rating of a 10 is that the Wi-Fi kept going out for my teenage son! We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

Monthly stay from May thru July. Asked for a quiet spot and was placed directly across from the pool. When we asked to be moved, they told us it was impossible to move us because that is where we are assigned. Period. Our campsite was in a location where all the water gathered when it rained; therefore, we were staying in a mud hole due to the dirt roads. When we asked for gravel to be put down on the road going by our site, management told us that gravel was expensive and they would see what they could do. The result; about two five gallon buckets of gravel were put down in three mudholes in front of our motorhome. The pool was supposed to heated, it was not. Could not access the hot tub at times due to 5-10 kids less than 10 years old playing in it. Also, the hot tub was routinely filled with cold water while people were sitting in it. Advertised free cable tv, but it was not available to monthly paying customers. WIFI was spotty at best. Finally, this KOA charges for their pancake breakfast and ice cream social while at their sister KOA in Cody, WY these services were free. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.

Spent three nights here just before they closed for the season in an 'upgraded' site (212) which had full hook-ups minus cable (we had our DISH setup and open views, so that was fine). Barely had 1 bar on three different wifi signals (takes off two stars), but I had an AT&T wifi card which had five bars on 4G LTE. My Sprint phone roamed on Verizon Wireless the entire time, but I had 4+ bars almost everywhere we went.

The site was pretty level, but as noted before the sewer hookup was a stretch even with both my hoses and moving my RV all the way back to the edge. Water and power were fine (my site was 30A but didn't need 50A since it was perfect weather to open the windows). Everything else is KOA standard which is good, especially their pancake breakfast served from 0700-1000 every morning. The pool and hot-tub were closed down. Staff was very helpful on who, what, when, wheres and whys of what to see beyond the items we had planned.

One final thought, if you use the WAZE app for navigation on your smartphone, ignore the directions that try to take you through the back gate (Concourse Dr to Saint Patrick Bypass from Exit 61 on I-90). Instead, continue on SD 16 and exit onto East Hwy 44, turn left at the first light and right at the next one, which takes you into the campground main entrance off St. Patrick Street. (I alerted WAZE about this issue, so hopefully they've fixed the navigation - if not, you can turn around a 35ft Class A and toad in the church parking lot on St. Patrick Bypass.) We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Motorhome.
