This is a very costly park if not a member. We were given one if the newer sites in the front. They have a concrete pad, picnic table, hookups and nothing else. It rained and we found ourselves in the midst of a mud flow. Every site had mud flowing into it. Take a site in the back where they have grass. Otherwise there are no trees, shrubs, grass or otherwise in the front. Plus you get the road noise. It's a nice place but expensive for what you get. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review for Rushmore Shadows Resort. Sounds like you were one of our very first guests in our new section of full hookup RV sites. We do apologize that the landscaping and final road work had yet to be completed at the time of your stay. We hope you'll return to the beautiful Black Hills and give us another opportunity to make a good impression! Safe travels.

This is a large park set back from the road, one of the better parks near Rushmore and Custer. Sites vary tremendously from back-to-back back ins to pull throughs, from flat sunny sites to sloped sites among the trees, from tight side-by-sides on gravel and weeds to well-spaced sites with nice wide grass areas. The park is available far cheaper if you'll listen to a 90 minute membership pitch. Although we felt the campground was very over priced, it might not be for this location. It is clean and tidy but some loops could use more work. The staff were fine. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Coast to Coast member park. Being non-members, paid $39 for 3 nights and attended the sales presentation (90 minutes, no pressure). Beautiful park, lots of grass, well maintained. Close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. No cable tv, strong wifi (we were parked directly under a tower). We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The resort is very well maintained, clean, and very beautiful. The staff is always pleasant for the most part. Some of the office staff have no idea what the sites even look like so you need to be careful when you pull into your site. Look at it first. And as usual this is a member park and Coast to Coast is always put some where that is not the best. Member's do look down at CC people. Little do they realize.....the park is paid just as much for CC as they get from their members. WIFI does not work on the lower sites, but the phone reception is good. Some members do NOT clean up after their own pets and leave it up to the maintenance people....NOT FAIR. clean up after you own pet. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

For a resort campground there could be some improvements.

1. Even though there were plenty of vacant sites, they grouped everyone close together like sardines. Not much privacy.

2. The Internet reception was spotty at best and non-existent at some sites.

3. No cable TV.

4. The grass needed taking care of.

I probably won't be back at this campground in the future. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Check in was very quick. They had our Coast to Coast reservation and were off to our site in a just a couple minutes. We had a back in spot and luckily, there was open space in front of us to maneuver our 40 ft RV. RV park is very well kept even though it was extremely full. LOVED having a grass area to let the dog off leash. He loved it after being cooped up while we were on the road. Good Verizon cell and air card. We didn't realize the park was so far up the mountain. Quite a climb but it was worth it. Easy in and out of the park. Lots of room to walk the dog. We didn't use any of the amenities, like the pool, but it looked good. We'd stay here again. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park with lots of rolling hills and green grassy areas between sections. The camp store is well stocked, the grounds are immaculate and the landscaping is well maintained. Only drawback was that when we arrived, the front desk had only one person and they were stuck on the phone. Took a long time to get checked in. Close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. Mini golf course, basketball court, tetherball and pool all clean and well maintained. Apparently during Sturgis, the large grass areas are used for tents so there are porta potties all around the area. Looks a little odd, but didn't notice bad odors. Site #16 is the best in the park. No one on our driver's side, large area behind us to sit and enjoy the piece and quiet. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Loved this resort as a base camp for our adventures. It is close to many attractions. Park is very clean and we had a pull through site with 50 amp full hookups. It is very clean and quiet. Verizon and wifi worked well as did Dish Satellite. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Mount Rushmore at night is special. We enjoyed the Crazy Horse memorial. We especially enjoyed The Wild Horse Sanctuary and Mammoth Dig in Hot Springs. We attempted to go to the Fort Hayes Chuckwagon Dinner and it was 100* outside and hotter in the building where the dinner and show were. We ended up leaving before the show due to the heat. The 1880's train in Keystone is fun. So much to do and see here.

We arrived mid-week and were lucky enough to be able to pick our site out of a list of several. Good thing because some would have been too short. The sites here vary a lot in size. Utilities worked well. Wifi worked pretty well at our site up closer to the front. Sites are pretty level. Most have nice size grassy area between sites with table and fire pit. Verizon signal strong. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Mostly paved interior roads are in good shape. Right up there with one of the nicest parks we've stayed at. Rate is ROD. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I have read many of the comments and I just had to comment on the statements about "they seem to treat members better". This is my home park, purchased the membership, and I dread the check in as we r given a site that we don't fit or like. Then I get frustrated & must start the check in process all over again, & check sites that r available & we finally get a site we selected. As members, this is the way the check in should b-members find their own site, if not happy with the one the office assigned. I think some of the front office people do not have a clue about the sites. As for the park, it is one of the nicest parks in the area and close to all the attractions and shopping. With the exception of checking in. We love this park and the area. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Truck Camper.

Very nice park. Friendly staff, well maintained. Close to all our activities. Only negative - after logging onto the campground Internet, could not get reception at our camp site. We used our Coast-To-Coast points for the 7- days stay. We stayed in a 38' RV. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects Coast to Coast Premier membership. We have been staying in a lot of Coast to Coast parks this summer and this by far the best. I thought we would be given a lesser spot, but that wasn't the case. We were given the biggest most spacious pull through we've ever had! The park is wonderfully maintained and everyone has been friendly. The only negative I can think of and it's minor, is the hot tub is too small and it's very heavy on the chlorine. We will for sure be back. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice "Club Membership" park. We are members and enjoyed its closeness to the attractions and price. The showers are located in the pool facilities and a separate building. The "Club House" is used for the sales presentation and is not always available. The park is well maintained, as they are trying to sell memberships. Water pressure and electric is good even with a full park. Wi-Fi at our site was good. As nice as it is, it is not worth paying the non-member price. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The grounds were immaculate. They have activities on the weekends. We had a pull-through site that was big enough for our rig, with room for our car. When we had a hard rain and found ourselves in a mud hole, told the office and within the hour had two loads of gravel on our site, which we thought was excellent. The campground has changed hands and the new owners are making many improvements which are very evident. The restrooms and showers are tiled and updated, very nice. We would definitely return when in the area. The price is for 50 amp with ROD. We camped at Rushmore Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.
