Rating determined primarily by value. Fairgrounds with Grass parking, water and electricity (50amp), with dump station ($0.00 fee). Some pullthrough, some back-in sites. No other amenities offered to justify the price. We had stayed in a similar setting in Ontario, Oregon, two weeks prior to this location, for $10.00. For what you get, the lesser price seems more reasonable. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

For value in Sioux Falls you can't beat this park. We stay here when in town for medical or business. The camp host escorts you to your site. Sites are level on grass with electric and water. If available, stay in a pull through near the stadium. It was reasonably quiet and away from highway noise. We never heard the train and though the airport isn't far away there were no planes during the night. It's convenient to grocery stores (Hy Vee) on 10th and Kiwanis and several restaurants on 12th Street. During the warm season don't miss the vintage Milky Way ice cream place on 12th Street. It's important to call or check the website to find out if there is an event going on and space is available. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

Price reflects weekly rate for 50 amp FHU pull thru site. Basic park with partially paved and partially gravel roads with easy access from I-29. Sites are grass. Camp host was available and helpful. There were prairie dogs everywhere! There was train noise and some low air traffic from the nearby airport. Heavy rains caused lots of water to accumulate around us but we were able to move out without an issue. We would stay again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

The campground is part of the fairgrounds. There are grass areas for parking. We called ahead of time to confirm there were no events as they do not take reservation. The park was fairly empty. The host was not at home when we got there but another camper said to just pick a spot. We found one with full hook ups and 50amp service. Aside from the rest rooms, there are no other amenities but it was worth $25. Easy in and out of the fairgrounds with access to I-29. Staff on the phone and the host was friendly. The host told us about the shelters if there was severe weather. It's a good location for visiting the Sioux Falls area with lots of shopping close by. Great for walking the dog as there's lots of room to roam. Our dog wasn't crazy about the prairie dogs, though, who were digging holes all over. Good Verizon cell and internet service. We'd definitely stay here again. We only needed a few nights and didn't need a pool or other amenities. Good price for what it is. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A great Hy-Vee grocery store on Marion and everything else you need close by. The local dog park at I-229 and Cliff is beautiful and our dog loved playing there. It's about 15 minutes away but worth the drive. Also there's a 26 mile paved bike trail around the city. Lots of places to park at various locations to get on it. $1 trolley for an all day ride in downtown. Don't miss the sculpture walk downtown and Falls Park. Fun city with lots going on in the summer.

This campground is very convenient to downtown Sioux Falls. They do not take reservations but the rate is hard to beat for a full hook-up site. The utilities worked well and the site was somewhat level. We stayed in a pull-thru site by the grandstands and didn't have any road or train noise. Others mentioned airplane noise but we only heard that once. My only problem was the Prairie Dogs. They were everywhere and wouln't have bothered me except it rained the night before we left and their burrows became mud holes. We would stay here again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Falls Park is worth a visit. On Saturday nights during the Summer months they have live music.

Easy on and off interstate, but that's all I can say good about it. Glad we were only stopping for the night. Lots of gopher holes, so be careful not to break an ankle. Water, electricity and sewer were a plus. Easy drive across state line to Minnesota so we could add that state sticker to our map of places been to! Would stay again if we had to, just for an overnight stop on our way somewhere else. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice Walmart not too far away. The Falls are a must see.

Easy access off highway 29. Park was almost empty, but park hosts were very friendly and helpful and escorted us to our site. We asked for a pull-through (next to Stadium) and was escorted to an area opposite of the highway and train tracks. Subsequently, did not experience any of the highway noise mentioned in other posts. The $25 a night rate is the best we could find in Sioux Falls. The sites are grass, but the ground is firm. Even with recent rains and a heavy rig we did not sink into the ground at all. We felt safe in this park and would stay again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Anyone staying in Sioux Falls should consider seeing the Falls Park for which the city is named.

This campground is no more than a grass field for rvs. It is quiet even thought it is located next to a train track. We heard a train whistle once or twice. We stayed 2 nights. We visited the Falls and Palisades SP. Both were worth the time. The sites are close. But there are so few campers you can be as far away as you need be. It was rainy and some sites were muddy with tire ruts. They need attention. We would stay again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access from I-29. Level sites on grass. On-site Host escorted us to Site. We stayed here in mid-May when there was no event, so we had the campground nearly to ourselves. We felt safe here, and there was plenty of open, grassy areas for our dogs. We would stay here again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is pretty basic camping. Find the Campground Host and he will help you find a site. It had rained hard here several times before we arrived, and there was a lot of standing water and the ground was soft. We were worried about driving onto the grass in a big rig, but the host found a spot where there was concrete, so we were all set. This is central to everything in Sioux Falls and is uncrowded and reasonably quiet on this Labor Day weekend. Can't beat the price -- with full hookups- we would stay here again for sure! We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

We needed an overnight stay in Sioux Falls. The rate was right so we decided to stay here. It is near a freeway, busy roads, and a railroad. There is also an airport nearby. None of these noises bothered us but you could hear them. As always with fairgrounds, finding your way to the sites can be a challenge. The host greeted us and guided us to a water/electric site (that's what we wanted). They had electric only as well as full hookup sites available (and plenty of them). The same rate for all sites. We ended up in our own section of the park. The fairgrounds leaves one gate open at night so you can come and go as needed. We were very pleased and would stay here again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

The park accepts cash or check only for the camp fee. This park couldn’t be easier to access from I-29. There are many sites spread out in this fairgrounds, with good proximity to the Sioux Falls metro area. There is a railroad track just outside the west fence, but this appears to be a spur into a business and we saw no rail traffic during our stay. The Fairgrounds is not far off the flight path of the Sioux Falls airport and there were a few incoming flights during the afternoon and early evening hours, but no flights after mid-evening. Good satellite, AT&T, and Verizon reception. The fairgrounds camp does have a host that lives on site in the campground and he made many rounds over the course of the day and night. We felt perfectly safe at this camp ground and would stay here again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

This park is exactly what it is advertised to be...fairgrounds...and for that I give it a 7. No frills, but you get full hookups with reliable power, and water pressure at a fair price. Close to downtown, and easy access from the Interstate. This is our second time here, and we would stay here again. We stayed 9 days this time while visiting friends in the area. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

It's a place to park. Site was level, all hookups in OK condition. A little road, train and airport noise. Interior roads paved and in good condition. There were several long term residents that made us a little uncomfortable with their two very large dogs and condition of campers. We would probably use again if we need to be in Sioux Falls. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is easy to get to & from Interstate 29 (Exit 79 – W 12th St/HWY 42). The park was located near the Interstate and along a rail road track that was in current use. Good thing the trains only ran during the day servicing a nearby gravel yard. The park was near the airport so there were some military jets making noise over head. The interior roads were paved but the sites were grass. Most all of the sites are along the perimeter fence so they are back ins. There was enough room between the RV and road for second vehicles to park. The sites were generally level but there might have been a slight slope towards the fence or swales across the site were tires sank into the ground so be selective in site choice if needed. No privacy between the sites. The sites are not clearly defined. They have full hook ups – water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer. The water & electric connections are at the back of the sites along the fence making the need for long hoses or lines. The sewer connection was in the middle of the site at ground level. Opening slides was easy as the park was not full. There seemed to be enough room for slides when another RV came in next to us. No other amenities like WiFi. Believe there might have been a restroom/shower building but that was on the far side of the open field. There may have been an outside table available for longer stays but not sure about that. There were only a few trees on the other side of the open field were there seemed to be some sites so there was a clear view of the southern sky to get satellite reception. There was good reception on our Verizon WiFi hotspot and cell phone. There seem to be a lot of long term residents. There wasn't a designated pet area but there were a lot of places to walk the dogs. There weren't bag dispensers around the park to pick up waste but there were dumpsters to dispose of waste. The site host could only accept cash. If you wanted/needed to pay by credit card, you had to go in the office. We arrived on a weekday so that wasn't a problem. Not sure what would happen when the office was closed. We only stayed two nights as we needed to be in the area. Wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.
