We stayed in this campground for 5 weeks in our coach. The staff are beyond helpful and ever so nice. The grounds are kept up beautifully. We did not use the laundry facilities, showers, or bathrooms but I did go in each of them just to check them out, and they were spotless. The site we were in on top of the hill (#52) was a really long pull-through. We are 43' with a 25' enclosed trailer, and we fit easily and still had room to park the Jeep. A bit tight though to our neighbors. Small patch of grass. Took some jockeying to get a satellite signal. Not able to put out the awning due to a large tree, but it shaded us well. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location for riding motorcycles! The black hills are so beautiful. Tough area though for cycling, a real challenge to ride those hills.

Park is fairly large with lots of shade trees yet does have some open sites for satellite users. Sites seem to be of varying sizes but they do have a number of large sites (pull through and back-in) that will handle big rigs and tow vehicle. Roads are paved, sites are gravel or grass with grass in between each. I felt the big rig sites were too close together. Our site was level. Wi-Fi was free and worked well during our stay. They have two nice size pools. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were here to renew our South Dakota licenses so the owners were very helpful in preparing the necessary document for us to submit and giving us advice on the local DMV (Wednesday only). Nice place to stay to visit Spearfish, Sturgis and Deadwood. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in very efficient. Escort to site is a nice service. Laundry clean. Didn't use pool but looked nice. Park is more conducive to small fifth wheels and campers. Very, very tight getting into and out of site with motor home. Parked cars all over the place. Picnic tables old and with so little space they are just in the way. A real obstacle course driving in and out of park. So close to neighbor that we could not use slides on one side and still be able to walk between to get to car in back. Barely enough room to park tow vehicle without being in the road. The park was very full, probably nice place if not so crowded. Nowhere level to hook tow vehicle when leaving. Would not stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Loop through Spearfish Canyon, through Lead and into Deadwood is a nice drive.

Great reception when we arrived after a long haul from Billings. The owners keep the campground in excellent condition. Good facilities, fast WiFi and a great place to stay. Get in early for Sturgis. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Check in was very easy even though they were training their daughter. We were taken to several available spots and then was escorted to the one we chose. Sites were gravel with a picnic table and grass. Owners made sure ever thing was working and we were happy with our stay. They have two heated pools and we were given the temp. of each at check in. They do not take credit or debit cards but will take personal checks. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping is close by as well as places to eat. Be sure to take trip thru Spearfish Canyon beautiful road trip.

Good park for the area. Very clean and well maintained facilities. Hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Even has a couple of kennels where you can leave your dog for the day. Downsides are some sites are very narrow particularly in the lower campground area. WiFi in this area is basically none existent due to where the closest transmitter is located. Would stay here again but would ask for a site in a different section. Some sites throughout the park also have some issues with front to back slope. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Spearfish Canyon is worth the drive. Western Heritage Center is not worth the time.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. The roads and sites are gravel. There is plenty of room and full hook ups, as well a number of pull-through sites. The Wi-Fi and cable service are excellent. Kids love the heated swimming pool. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive beautiful Spearfish Canyon. Visit old Fort Meade Calvary Museum and Bear Butte near Sturgis, SD. There is much history to be found concerning the Lakota and General Custer. Deadwood is only about 17 miles away and you can see an old fashion shoot out, as well as visiting the actual saloon where Wild Bill Hickok was shot while holding aces and eights. The old fish hatchery in Spearfish is neat, especially for kids.

This is a wonderful park. Easy access to Spearfish and I-90. Very strong Verizon 4g signal, fast campground WiFi allowed us to stream programming from our Dish Hopper at home, and to use our laptops without a hitch. Laundry room was very clean and in good repair. The park was quiet, AC power was great to the site (measured with a meter). Cable TV was also provided. The owners were very helpful and wanted our stay to be enjoyable. We stayed at a slow time of year, so I can't speak for busy summer times, but the owners are clearly spending the money needed to keep this park in great condition. We drove down to Crazy Horse, and Mount Rushmore one day, and visited Deadwood the next. We would not hesitate to stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Near Sturgis. Bike week rate $100 cash or check only. Very nice park. Easy access off I-90 at Exit 14. Paved interior roads. Two swim pools. We had site 11: good hookups, level, good wifi, shade, everything great. Well run, felt like well-liked family member. Food service in park. Best personal guidance into a site that I have ever experienced. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

This campground is easy to find and they have great signs leading you off of I-90 to the campground. This is a wonderful place to stay. We were given a choice of several sites when we arrived and were taken by golf cart to view them before selecting the site we preferred. We were then escorted to that site. We had a long, level, shaded pull-through site near the pool, laundry, and bathhouse which was very convenient. The roads are paved and easy to maneuver. Sites are gravel. Chris' is located approximately 2 miles from Spearfish Canyon (a "must-see") and 10 miles to the Deadwood area. Walmart and other stores and restaurants are within 1 mile. We had good Wi-Fi for two days but could not connect on the weekend. The laundry was clean with good machines. We stayed here 4 nights in a 33' rig and highly recommend this park. The rate quoted reflects a Good Sam discount. Be aware that they do not accept credit cards. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Cabins and a wide variety of sites are available at this campground. Small, grassy sloped sites may be only suitable for tents but some level, gravel sites can accommodate large RVs. Most sites are closely spaced and offer no sense of privacy. The laundries, restrooms, and pool were clean and inviting. AT&T phone and data service were good in the area. Basic utilities were good but the WiFi was very slow and scarcely usable. The price includes a Good Sam discount. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

After reading all the great reviews about this campground, I was happy to arrive here! The only flaw we really had were the dryers in the laundry room. My wife reported to me that they were not very efficient. Clothes were not drying properly in a reasonable amount of time. There are 2 pools on the property and both are sparkling! Plenty of room to spread out and if you don’t have a fire ring on your site, they will deliver one to you. We enjoyed our stay here and would come back. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Travel Trailer.

This was a very nice park, green with good shade. They allowed dog kennels in your site which is a plus as so many parks are restrict that. There is a great pool for kids with a water slide and a petting zoo (free) with 2 baby goats, 2 baby lambs and even a calf. The staff were very friendly and voluntarily let us pick our own site from the many they have available. We would stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Good location for many attractions. Check-in was easy and staff was friendly. In fact, we were taken by golf cart to pick our campsite. This is a large park, with easy/wide roads and includes many trees that provide shade. Patio covered picnic tables are throughout the campground. Our site was level and clean. Site include picnic table and fire pit. Wi-Fi was very weak. Verizon phones were able to get 4G service. Many campers were long term, and these RVs appeared rough, which presented a negative look on the park. Close to grocery stores (Walmart/Safeway), fast food, restaurants and gas stations. Close to freeway access (I-90). DirecTV (free standing satellite) had no issue. While at this campground we visited Deadwood, Devils Tower and Sturgis. We also took the famous Spearfish Canyon Scenic drive. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

We really like the friendliness of this park. We have stayed here in the past and would stay here again. Only problem is we went to the newer area with pull through this time and Wi-Fi did not work. This was very disappointing and I am sure if we would have complained they would have moved us to another site but after all we were camping and not in rig very much so not an issue. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.
