This is the second time we stayed at Chris' Camp and we will continue to stay here when we visit the Black Hills area. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The campground is on a hill side overlooking Spearfish. The sites are spacious and well taken care of, most have shade. Cable TV has about 30 channels. Beautiful area plenty to see and do, we were just far enough from the city and highway to make it peaceful and quiet. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely campground with owners that care. They are so friendly and helpful. Have good size sites with grass and trees! Bathrooms/showers are very clean. Have free WiFi and cable TV too! Would definitely stay here again! We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Really nice park. Lots of amenities under shaded sites. The only dings is that the water pressure was very low <35psi, and the WiFi didn't work. Management is awesome. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV park has everything an RV'er would want and all the amenities. The couple who own the campground are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It is easy off and on the interstate, and easy entrance and exit the park. We got there when a car show was going on in Deadwood, and the place was packed. Being this crowded, it was very tight; our slide out was within a foot of our neighbors; also once you got into your site, you had a difficult time getting out. Ask about satellite; some sites are shaded. We would stay here again if in the area but not during an event; we stayed here a week in a 39 foot fifth wheel. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

IMO the manager is a rock star, great attitude and she took good care of us. We had a nice site, we were there for seven nights with our kid (3.5 year old) and met family with their two boys (4 and 9). The pools were a huge hit, very well maintained and kid friendly. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

If you want to roll the dice and take a chance, you might get a beautiful site. You also might end up as we did and receive a terrible site as we did for our recent six night stay. We were offered one of two pull-through sites for our 34' MH towing a car. The better of the two sites was very long on a gravel drive-way so long that we could've parked two or three cars behind the coach. The problem was the site was very narrow. I had to sit on my neighbors picnic table to access the storage bays on the driver-side slide. On the passenger side, the coach steps emptied directly onto the berm of the main black top road. The road was so close with no visual separation and elevated the cars could look directly into our windows as they drove by. There was an annoying car dragging something on the ground that drove by repeatedly like I was at a homeless camp of some type. When exiting the coach, one had to walk at an angle and dodge a tree to get to what was the only room at our site to set up a chair, table, etc., the long gravel driveway behind the coach. We like to spend time outdoors and we do most of our cooking outside. This was a very awkward arrangement that I have not had to experience in my 30+ years of camping and RV'ing.

Yes the park is pretty and the owners are nice and friendly. However, the bummer was that I made my reservation in November for a June visit. Not sure if the returning campers get all the good sites as a priority. We really did not enjoy our time at this resort and the site we received was not on par with how early I made my reservation and the numbe. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Park does not take plastic. Lady at the desk said it would cost them $300 for the card reader. OK, big park not willing to make a tax deductible expense for the convenience of the customers. Not good. Our campsite was very small. No room to park vehicle. Fortunately there were some unused sites across the road to park in. This is not a good big rig park. Site was all gravel, with one tree on the north side....no shade, and a well worn plastic picnic table. Sites are so small that the picnic tables have to be moved whenever someone is moving in or leaving. $43 per night is very high for what we got. Have had much nicer for $30. WiFi did not work. I asked about this and they said they had a lightning strike a couple of weeks ago and it had not yet been fixed. Customer friendly? On the positive side, the park had a nice swimming pool and the cable TV was better than average. Overall a bad experience. We will not be going back, and we would tell all of our big rig friends to stay away. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

This is your average park with lots of shade trees in some areas and open areas for satellite users. Fairly level sites and fairly close together. I had a back in site with a worn picnic table, no fire ring and no patio, just gravel for the site and grass in between sites. Great owners, extremely friendly and helpful. Cash, money order or check only, no credit or debit cards. Two pools and a kiddie pool. A little overpriced for what it is. I might stay here again but would look around the area first to see what else is available. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground. Lanna is wonderful and quite informative. Got to pick our site. Very clean and well maintained. Sites are plenty big .
We stayed in a 37 foot motorhome.

By all means, do Spearfish Canyon. Gorgeous. Devils Tower is also easily reached from here. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

A family run park for over 40 years, Chris' Campground sits, quite literally, on the doorstep of The Black Hills. The owners operate under the premise that each guest be treated as family. Whether offering assistance on setting up one's rig or providing directions to a tourist attraction, they make their guests feel as if they have been lifelong friends. Immaculate restroom and shower facilities, two swimming pools and a 'petting zoo' represent just a few of the wonderful amenities provided here. Paved roads throughout the campground lead to gravel or grassy sites with plenty of room for the Big Rigs. We stayed (and currently reside) in Lot #77 which has bountiful afternoon shade and sits extremely close to laundry, showers and a very strong WiFi signal. Each site comes complete with Fire Ring and Picnic Table - with numerous Ramada's spread through the facility for larger crowds. Our site also provides cable TV. Whether you're a family of weekend adventurers, or full timers (like us), you'll certainly find Chris' Campground meets your needs. We, not only plan on staying here again, but also, plan to remain at this location until September. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

We have a premium pull through for a week which is an average site elsewhere. Very, very cramped for the price. Nice view, lots of grassy dog walking areas, roof top satellite good, camp wifi non existent and location is good for getting around. Camp is nicely laid out with good roads and pleasant owners. I would stay here again even with my complaints. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

The roads are paved and the sites are gravel. There is a petting "farm" with baby goats, lambs and cows which was very nice to stop at each day! We stayed here two weeks to explore the area and it was a perfect location for getting around. The laundry was well kept, the grounds taken care of and people friendly. The only issue we had was the speed of the vehicles going through the park, including the golf carts of the people working there. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.

Made a reservation in early May for a "premium" site-which included wi-fi, cable, sewer, near one of the 3 pools in the park. Wi-fi was nonexistent, good cable, sewer fine, several blocks from a pool. Biker week was coming the week after we got there. Very disappointed in the site. Will not return. Check in very efficient. Escort to site is a nice service. Laundry clean. Didn't use pool but looked nice. Park is more conducive to small fifth wheels and campers. Very, very tight getting into and out of site with motor home. Parked cars all over the place. Picnic tables old and with so little space they are just in the way. A real obstacle course driving in and out of park. So close to neighbor that we could not use slides on one side and still be able to walk between to get to car in back. Barely enough room to park tow vehicle without being in the road. The park was very full, probably nice place if not so crowded. Nowhere level to hook tow vehicle when leaving. Would not stay here again. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Motorhome.
