RV park is in a very well kept park. Reservation was easy to make over the phone. Despite two washer changes, our water hookup had small drip. Maintenance fixed it first thing in the morning when we were notified them. We really liked our stay here! Some sites are close together --the only downside to staying here but everything else is so nice! We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Definitely visit the fish hatchery in the park. Great paths for walking in the park" Drive up Spearfish Canyon and hike the Roughlock trail to Roughlock Falls. Well maintained paths and waterfalls at the top.

Beautiful campground in a park atmosphere. Next to Spearfish Creek with little streams wandering through campground. Nice walking paths and pet friendly with multiple dog bag stations. Pretty city park next door and very interesting fish hatchery, all within easy walk. Lush green grass everywhere. Lots of shade, although some sites in sun. Our site, 30, had big side yard with multiple big trees so that you could move your chairs and be in shade. Some sites much closer together. WiFi weak, but hookups fine and good 50 amp. This is one of the prettiest campgrounds we have run across. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Take a drive down Spearfish Canyon. Very convenient to Lead and Deadwood, did both in one day. Drove up to Mt Roosevelt, rough road but great views.

This RV park is beautiful and well maintained and walking distance to the real city park which is also beautiful. There are walking and bike riding paths and a stream running thru it. At least once a week evening entertainment in the park. Great location and the city of Spearfish is interesting. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A City Park run campground. It is set in a beautiful "park" like setting, lots of trees, creek running through it. I noticed a walking, bike path, I did not use it so no further comment on this. There is also a fish hatchery right at the camp area, very interesting to go look at. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Awesome location amidst large trees with bubbling brook running along side the campground. This place defines camping. A bit congested and tight, but OK, in the back end of the campground (WiFi was spotty at the back end as well). Roads were paved, sites were primarily gravel with lots of grass, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Proximity to heritage fish hatchery and downtown was great. Paved cycling/walking paths through park and beyond. We will definitely return to this campground. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

We've only been doing this RV thing for three seasons but have spent maybe 80 nights in a total of 20 different RV parks and I have to say Spearfish City Park is the best yet. The grounds are immaculate, mostly grass and large trees in a quiet tucked-away end of town along an absolutely lovely fast-flowing trout stream. Our site (P1) is large and flat, with all services clustered together near the rear. Both wifi and cable TV are excellent. Perhaps because the kids have gone back to school, it's marvelously quiet here. If I was looking for a place to spend an entire season, this would be at the top of my list. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Although we arrived only yesterday, Spearfish looks to be an interesting town. It also has a Super Walmart, so we can stock up on provisions and the town is very accessible from I-90. We'll see the fish hatchery later today -- Tripadvisor says it's one of the top things to see in Spearfish and it's within easy walking distance from our site. There's a also lovely concrete walking/bike path that follows the stream and looks very inviting.

This was a last minute reservation for 2 nights in the busy season, and we were told if we wanted to stay longer (which we did) we could park in the "walk in" section (no hookups.) However, they had a cancellation and called us to say we could move to another FHU site for an additional 2 nights. Very nice of them to remember us and let us know. This is a beautiful campground, green grass, lots of trees, paved interior roads, gravel sites. Our first site was level, our second more of a challenge for leveling, but we managed just fine. Sites are of varying sizes. Not all will handle big rigs easily. Some single sites were arranged in a way that they would be great for 2 or 3 friends camping as a group. With beautiful Spearfish Creek running right around the campground, views and fishing are easy. A short walk to the fish hatchery for an interesting tour, and to the large adjacent public park. We really liked it here and would return in a heartbeat.

Don't use your GPS for directions. Ours took us on a route which dead ended at the South end of the park. We had to go back out to main road and go into downtown on Main Street before turning to the entrance of the park. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

One of the nicest campgrounds that we have ever been in! Paved roads throughout the campground. There was a nice paved trail that went through the campground; it was great for getting our 3 mile walk in everyday. We were so very impressed with the area, and the town of Spearfish. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very friendly staff and a great location. Good experience for our overnight stop, just know that many sites can be tight getting into/out of and space between sites can be very tight. If making reservations, suggest you look at Google Map and the campground map to make sure it works for you.

Suggested to a supervisor the need to trim trees on the roads and sites so they don't scrape the sides and roofs of RVs with no way around. Had one right on our roof, thankfully no wind and they had no other sites. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful campground in the city of Spearfish. Right across the road from the DC Booth Historical Fish Hatchery, a very nice (and free) attraction. This would be a great campground for tents, there are wide open grassy areas for tents. The RV spots are nice, but they are close together. Showers and restrooms have a code to get in and are very clean. The grounds are immaculately kept and the creek that runs through the campground provides nice background noise. Great bike and walking path all the way through the city of Spearfish. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Beautiful well maintained park. Initially I was concerned about the site sizes after reading the reviews. I mentioned my concern before reserving a site. I was assured our 40ft MH would fit fine. We were on site#26 and the site was perfect. We walked around the campground and honestly think there is not a bad site in the park. Sites are spacious and level. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Across the street from the campground is the historic DC Booth Fish Hatchery, no admission fee. No expense was spared building this facility. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

This is truly camping in a park setting - green grass, large trees, and a trout-stocked stream. Sites are level gravel and narrow, with a fire ring and table but are narrow except for the "premium" sites which are larger and have 50A. The park now has WiFi but it was spotty during our stay; however, Verizon cell/data was very good. Trees make it difficult to access the TV satellites, but the cable TV was very good. A town-wide network of concrete trails passes through the park, and a free historic fish hatchery is across the street. Knowledgeable, friendly hosts and excellent grounds maintenance make this a trouble-free stay. There will be families with children and it will be crowded, but the park quiets down early each night. A little out of the way, but worth the effort. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The D.C. Booth National Historic Fish Hatchery is an easy walk, is free, has guided tours facilities, and you can feed the enormous trout. The city park adjacent to the campground features live music on weekends.
