Big rig friendly with level sites. Stayed on third level which is quieter and still good view of rally. Did not use bathrooms because of distance on first level. Laundry was good. Wifi was really bad the majority of our stay. Very expensive but great place to stay for rally with two minute motorcycle ride. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Grocery store within 2 minutes. Deadwood was 14 miles, easy motorcycle ride, and worth a visit. Walmart and shopping was 30 miles but was unnessary because the rally kept you busy with shopping, people watching, entertainment, and food.

We were looking for a CG walking distance from Sturgis with full hookups for a 1 night stay. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a weeknight in late August.

This CG met all our requirements. It's a 5 minute walk downtown. It includes full hookups, and laundry. Sites are arrayed across 3 levels, the higher levels having a view of Sturgis. The sites on the main level are all gravel. There are a few trees, most sites are full sun. There is wifi access, and good ATT and Verizon coverage. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were a full month after the rally so the campground was virtually empty. We had a long level gravel pull thru on the lower level. Wifi worked great as there was no one else on it. Verizon had a strong signal as well. Location is great for visiting several attractions in this area. I can't speak to what this place would be like during the rally, but by early September, this is a great place to base your travels for a while. No amenities aimed at kids in the park, e.g. no pool or playground. Park closes this year on Sept 15th and it's for sale. Easy access from the interstate from either direction but you drive through parts of town. No cable TV but satellite access is good. Virtually no grass for walking pets. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The other in-town campgrounds are along I-90 while SRV is just a couple block walk across a bridge over Bear Butte creek to downtown Sturgis. So no need to drink then drive; you could literally crawl home. SRV is a multi-level campground with 2 levels located on top a high bluff that overlook Sturgis. RV sites are close together with no real shade. The campground and buildings were clean. There's a large number of bathrooms, sinks, showers and laundry facilities available; also rental cabins. We stayed the night before SRV was closing for the season, so practically had the whole place to ourselves. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is our second stay here. We had a fairly level, gravel, pull through, FHU site on the main (lowest) level of the park. There is no cable TV but most sites are satellite friendly. The WiFi worked fine until it got dark. This was a bit surprising since, like 2 years ago, there were on a dozen or so other RVs in this large park. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry (4 washers and dryers inside each bathroom) were fine except for 2 dryers being out of order in the men's bathroom. I can't imagine what they are like when this place has 100 sites occupied. I saw no recycling. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. For anyone interested, the park is for sale. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

We paid the Passport America rate of $20 plus tax. Our mid-June stay was very enjoyable in a nice long, level, 50 amp full hookup site with excellent WiFi. One of the best WiFi networks we have used in a long time. Over-the-air TV reception was very limited with only 2 stations found, neither was a network (ThisTV and MeTV). So the WiFi was important for weather updates. We took a site on the lower level, the sites on the upper levels are either pull-in or back-in, your choice. Check-in was easy and friendly. The bath house was supposedly climate controlled, but in the off season it seems they turn it off when they close the office. Just a heads up on that if you need to use the shower there. We would gladly return when in this area. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Knuckle Brewing Company is new, clean and has great beer. We were there on a weekend, but I asked about Happy Hour and it is Mon - Thu from 4 - 6 and drafts are half price. Next door is the Oasis Bar and Lounge, this is a local place and the Happy Hour is 4:30 - 6:30, 7 days a week and drinks are a $1 off. Both are just 2 blocks down from Junction Ave. between 34 and Main St and easy walking distance from the RV Park.

The bath house should be climate controlled 24/7. If you should have this problem again, please contact someone in the office and advise. Thank You!

Two night stay on Passport (max allowed) a full week after bike Rally had ended. Campground was basically empty (10 other units). Grounds are gravel, sites have picnic tables and multiple sewer drains. The place needed a good hose off - butts and small trash all over the ground (with gravel I understand it's hard to pick up every little thing but it needs to be done, the place looked trashy). Bathrooms were not clean to our expectations - paper trash was not emptied during the time we stayed, dead bugs were on the floors, clumps of hair were stuck to shower walls, walls had a slimy feel. We got the feeling that the workers there were still too tired after the rally and didn't give a hoot. Very basic campground - parking sites, bath house and laundry - nothing more - no pool, (they do food, drinks and entertainment during the rally)
On the plus side, we were greeted warmly when we arrived and given our choice of sites. Office/store was very sparse in supplies -campers / tent accessories only - no food stuff.
Because of the price we were paying (12.50/night) we stayed here with the conditions as they are. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Truck Camper.

We stayed here pre-rally week in 2014. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our first trip to Sturgis and they gave us info on some great restaurants and places to see. Clean restrooms and showers, plenty of washers/dryers. Loved it!!! Tried to book for rally 2015, but they were already full :( We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We chose a site up on the second bluff. They stagger the sites when not busy. We overlooked Sturgis with a nice view. Full hook ups with 50 amp , water and sewer. No cable T V but good satellite access. We stayed for 4 nights and used it as a central base for Custer, Mt. Rushmore and Deadwood area. Really enjoyed the friendly staff. Easy to / easy from / easy in / easy out. Relatively new (opened in ~2006). All the pull through sites are level and spacious as are the back in sites; the pull in sites are on terraces giving great views of the town/valley. Every site has 50/30/20, water and sewer and a picnic table. Excellent wifi. We HIGHLY recommend this park to anyone either as a one night stopover or for a week or more of visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is easily the best-kept secret in the Black Hills area. Sturgis is a 20 minute drive to Spearfish, less to Deadwood or a gorgeous 60 mile scenic drive to Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave, etc. A day trip could be to Wall Drugs, south into the Badlands NP with stopovers at Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave and Deadwood on your return. Rapid City offers 'big city' shopping only 30 minutes from the park.

Price reflects 14 day stay. Have to swing wide to get into campground. Paved entrance and then the rest is gravel interior roads and sites. Three levels. Road going up to second level is asphalt. We were on the lower level which was the best for us. Angled 65 foot pull thru site. The way they should be. Each site has a picnic table and best of all no fire pits. Got a few channels on the antenna and the internet was very good. Beware of the goat head stickers. Easy in and out with a HDT and 5th wheel trailer. (60 foot combo) We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We visit this area often mostly because we so enjoy hiking the sacred Bear Butte Mountain that is right outside of Sturgis. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease we had at getting a site here because of all the hype about Sturgis. The park is nice and the sites are close together. Everything in Sturgis is geared towards the Sturgis Rally in August and the rates are raised to $50 a night in early July ahead of the rally. You can walk to town and all the stores and restaurants very easily from this park. The wifi was ok as were the park managers. We will stay here again when in the area and the prices are normal. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 2 weeks doing that time very few rv's in park. Park is in walking distance to down town Sturgis. We paid the week rate of 125. Park is easy to find just a gravel lot with a few small trees. Hook ups are good. Staff very nice. Pull through sites are easy access not very wide so the small trees are close to slide outs. Park has best price around. They do have a upper level which gives you a view of city. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The is none of several parks in the Black Hills area that we unexpectedly stayed at because the RV park in Deadwood we planned on using for 4 or 5 days was fully booked from Thursday through the weekend. The rate here is Passport America for a fairly level, gravel, full hookup pull-through site. All the lower level sites appear to be pull-through and the upper tier sites seem to be pull-ins so you get a view of the town out your windshield. The Wi-Fi network was OK but that may have been because there were only a dozen other RVs in the entire 164 site park. Why this park (just blocks from the center of Sturgis) is virtually empty on a Friday night in August is puzzling. The RV parks in Deadwood (just 15-20 miles away) are turning RVers away this weekend. After walking up and down the main streets of the town, I was not impressed with Sturgis. Personally, I find the type of people Sturgis draws to be rather sleezy (loud, obnoxious, and often drunk). Until we fell asleep around midnight, we could hear the music from one of the larger bars that is maybe 500 yards and slightly downhill from the park. There is no cable TV but most sites are satellite friendly. The bathrooms (both the men's and the women's bathrooms have several newer model washers and dryers in them) are small for a park this large. I saw nothing recreational or any sign of recycling. We camped at Sturgis RV Park in a Motorhome.
