The fairgrounds in updating their facilities. There is now a small private full hookup campground just inside Gate 6 enter from Lincoln. The new campground also has a new restroom. The remainder of the fairgrounds is a series of "campgrounds". Most with electric only. Electric is steady. Plenty of shade. The restrooms in the older areas are tired. Reasonably clean but tired. Rain will muddy some of the roads. Takes a day or two to dry out. Saturday is race day at the race track on the North end of the fairgrounds. If you are into dirt track racing it's cool. If not it will be noisy for a few hours. And there is a DQ just outside the fairgrounds. - CharlieB

The place is huge and wasn't full, so we were allowed to park where we wanted and face whatever direction we preferred. Like others, we took up several spaces, but were charged for one. Most campers were very spread out or in small groups. It was quiet at night except for three train whistles. Security fence. Grass sites, some have shade. Gravel and paved interior roads. Dump station nearest us was clean, but wouldn't accommodate a large RV as access was tight and there was a gravel ramp on either end. It looked very clean. Showers/bathrooms were dirty with wet concrete floors. We use our RV bathroom and shower, so it wasn't an issue. A few sites have water and sewer hookups. With a motorhome, stick to the roads on the east side. Some of the driveways and crossroads in the middle and west had a dip that would have dragged our undercarriage. We cleared tree branches and overhead wires, but we were watching closely. Not a bad place to overnight if you use your own toilet and shower. - 42lena

Despite making a reservation with credit card several days in advance, we arrived to find that we didn't have a place to park. Our space was given to another person. I also noticed they have quite a few homesteaders there. Hard to understand why we couldn't have just two nights when others had been there for months. The sites are located in a city park. The surrounding area is very attractive. However, the RV sites are not very well maintained. Some sites have picnic tables and others do not. Some are very close and others have a bit more space. We waited there for several hours while they tried to find a space for us, but the clerk who managed reservations was away from her desk. I cannot recommend the park to others as there does not seem to be a reservation system in place. - Newbet

This was a great overnight stopover. New camp host in 2008 was very helpful in checking us in. We did not have reservations, and there were only two other rigs in the camp. Nice level sites with full hookups. Great walking area along the river for us and our dog. Small golf course across the road. The camp is located in a beautiful park. Would definitely stay here again. - babysteps

At a city park. Nice level, gravel sites. Some back in and some pull through. The Trailer Life directory has some misinformation as to the location of this campground. On Highway 14 and 37 you go South, not North to get to the park. The campground host could have been more friendly, it was an effort for them to check us in. The TL directory gives a number for reservations, you may or may not get the reserved spot. We did not because some one in a motorhome liked the spot which had our name on it so he/they moved our reservation card to a different location even though it had the site I was told we had on the card. - JOchocki
