This has got to be one of the COE's top campgrounds. It is certainly one of the best COE campgrounds we've stayed in and we stay in COE campgrounds most of the time. The grounds are immaculate. The sites are well laid out and large. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I didn't rate this a 10 for a couple of reasons. First off, the floors in the showers are tile and some of the tiles are missing. Be sure and wear shoes. The shower was hot, however, and clean. It was just a disappointment that the showers weren't as nice as the rest of the park. Secondly, our AT&T cell phone only worked in one specific spot in the park. The hosts will show you where it is. Verizon MiFi was on again/off again and that was frustrating. We got Dish satellite service fine at first, but when we changed sites after lightning struck a huge tree next to us, we couldn't get the Dish to work in our new site. Kudos to the host in the park and to the Corps of Engineers for the way they handled the lightning strike, by the way. When we told the host about it, he helped us move to a new site immediately. The next day, the Corps had a tree service come and chop the tree down. It was too badly damaged to save it, unfortunately. Rate reflects our Senior Pass Discount. - Bobbi1948
Jul 2017 - $31.00
Nice swimming beach. We loved our spot directly in front of the beach. Level lot. No cell phone service for AT&T or Verizon. Hidden gem close to Nashville and we'll definitely be back if we can snag another full service lakefront spot. - HousleyinTN
May 2017 - $18.00
It's hard to beat America's Corp Of Engineer parks. So far Defeated Creek is one of our top five. Over half of the sites are water front with a shore line that is very welcoming. Many come with their boats and tie up right in front of their site. This park is very popular so if you want to get one of the water front spots with full hook up, you'll need to do a little planning and reserve early. We also enjoy the mountain bike trails and the Bear Waller Gap hiking trail that connect to the park. There is a marina next door where you can rent boats and the parks day use area has a great tennis court. You'll love the deer at night too! The sites are all well laid out and even the sites without a lake view are tucked away and offer something special. - Two Lanes of Freedom
Sep 2018 - $30.00
The owner bought this park about 3 years back is getting it in better shape. About 35 sites total about 4 or 5 short term sites. Gravel roads with grass and gravel sites. He tries to keep his campers under control and the only issue we had was a kid kept turning a couple of dogs loose. He was on them like a duck on a big. Less than a mile walk into historic Granville. - TXiceman1
May 2018 - $25.00
We were directed to a space that required driving between 2 campers, then to the right between a tree and picnic table to unlevel site. Then drove out and back in to a site that was between same 2 campers but straight ahead. Level okay. Used electric on next site over to get 30amp. Run down and uncared for Park. Didn't use facilities. Stayed in camper. WiFi worked for short time then not for the evening. No Verizon service. - Sewgratefulquilts
Apr 2018 - $35.00
No cell phone service, wifi works 25% of the time. Electric is metered and we were charged double for the last month there. Scolded for running a/c in the summer and heaters in the winter. Muddy mess half the year. Dryers take 2 hours to dry a normal sized load of clothes. Pets aren't allowed in the building. Owner is rude and disrespectful. Will not recommend this place to anyone. - GerieTrevino
Sep 2010 - $26.00
I have stay here many times and love the park. There's live music and karaoke every Saturday night, movies on Friday night. This park is very family friendly. They have all kinds of things going on like Christmas in July (was there it was great), chili cook off in October (was there last year and going again this year). The owners are great, they keep this place very safe and the restrooms may be old but they are very clean. This is not a party park and we like this, all rules are enforced, GREAT. Oh, just a comment about the other comment I read, how can anyone control where wild geese go to the bathroom, really! There is always someone you can't please and it is usually the ones breaking all the rules, enough said. I will be camping at Indian Creek again and again cause it's great. - outdoorlover1
Jun 2009 - $26.00
My family visited Indian Creek every summer while I was growing up, but then switched to Edgar Evins. We decided to return this past weekend after about 10 years, and were severely disappointed! The entire park is dirty and nasty now that it's privately owned. To begin with, they don’t properly take care of the bathhouses. Besides being full of poisonous spiders and in disrepair, it's also filthy. I suffered through a shower with moldy curtains and a rusty shower head. I mustn’t forget the poison ivy growing inside and around the entire camping pad, or the goose droppings EVERYWHERE including the roads and even the sand beach. It’s unsafe and unsanitary for children, or anyone for that matter, to be in this campground! To keep costs down they refuse to turn the lights on at night! It’s pitch black and very dangerous while climbing the steps to the bathroom. One guest fell and hurt her ankle while trying to do so. They are more concerned with, “keeping costs down,” than the safety of the campers. They are charging an outrageous $27 a night while they don't even offer running water at the swimming area (another cost saving measure). They will try to swindle money out of you any way they can, and will lie right to your face to justify their ways. Save your time and money and visit a state owned park. Owning a campground is a large responsibility and these people don’t have the funds, customer service skills, or manpower to run it properly. - hunnybunny
Jul 2006 - $22.00
Beautiful park, quiet, boat ramp, swimming beach, volleyball, basketball, horseshoe pits and the best part is Live Music and karaoke on Saturday nights every week. I plan on making this campground my favorite one. I plan on camping here allot. The fishing is great too. You can't go wrong going here the people are so nice that own the park. - Outdoorlover
Jun 2018 - $8.00
We liked everything about the park but there is no AT&T cellular service or WIFI service. The site was nearly level. There was plenty of space between sites. We liked the beach very much. Overall, we liked the campground a lot and will return. - Edji
Jul 2017 - $9.00
Our site in the Woodland area was very close together and trees made it hard to position with our slide out. There are no trash cans anywhere just a dumpsters so its kind of annoying when you are picking up after your pet. Our neighbors had 2 very large dogs that they tied to trees and allowed to bark all night. There is NOOO cell service. The picnic table was covered in green mold and not usable. The water is very pretty and its peaceful and quiet setting if you want to be off the grid. - this is us
Jul 2016 - $19.00
This is a very beautiful park. Our site was huge and very spacious. Noise was never a problem. There is ZERO cell service and that was one of my drawback. The other was I wished they had speed bumps to slow the constant traffic down. Kids are riding bikes and walking all the time so it would be very wise. Beach area was very well maintained. Park rangers and police presence most of the time. - Campingfamily4life
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Nice little campground convenient for those wishing to fish the Caney Fork River. Sites are level and easy to get into. Our site #24 had partial shade, but it was in the 90's when we were there and I wished we had a site with more shade. There is a nice open space between #24 and #25 with a walkway that leads to the river. Should have been a great place for the kids to play, except that everyone decided that was the place to let their dog use the bathroom and didn't clean up after them. My only real complaint is there are no sewer hookups and the dump station is pretty minimal. - VolFan9183
May 2018 - $26.00
Love that the majority of sites are level. Our site, 33, was unfortunately in complete sun so it wasn't the best but many other sites looked well shaded. The campground also has a very nice fish cleaning station. Bathrooms were clean but nothing special. - kcurtis
Aug 2017 - $26.00
We were very pleased with this site. They even had fish cutting/cleaning wooden tables at every site. There was water and electric at our site but no sewer. IMPORTANT: Make a sharp right at end of dam (it's a down slope because campground is at bottom of dam). There were no signs so we kept going up a steep and curvy mountain road. Luckily found a tight space to turn around. Other campers experienced the same issue. There is the barest of cell coverage and is in and out. No wi-fi and no TV. So if you want to disconnect from all communication, this is the place. Nice playground. We only stayed two nights so can't elaborate about the fishing or any other details. - Ceil-54
Jul 2018 - $36.00
Sites are very unique in they are all on platforms. Some have a slope up or down to a very level site. I would follow the website recommendations for size of RV. Our site is listed as 28' X 24' and we had plenty of room for our 26' MH and the Jeep beside it. The Park's WIFI did not work at our site, but we could pick up signal from marina. AT&T signal of 3 bars. Water and Electric was fine. Bath house very clean. No hooks in shower stalls. 4 OTA public TV stations. Roads in the park are steep but very manageable. - melandme
Jun 2018 - $40.00
Stayed in Site 54. 53 -- 60 are in the area where it is possible to scramble down to the lake. The other sites are over bluffs and not possible to access the water. 54 was long enough to accomodate our 30 foot fifth wheel. Disconnect and park vehicle on the side of the road. Just enough room. Water and electric worked great. We like this park very much. Love the way the sites are built out on platforms. Never seen another park like this one. - GordonsvilleGal
Mar 2017 - $31.00
The campground is very nice and clean, but for the rate they really ought to have sewer hookups. They had newer looking wifi, and I had signal, but the internet was down the whole time we were there. The showers were clean but pretty dated and leaky. Water hookups were not turned on, but the frost proof hydrant at the front was on. Took several hoses to reach, didn't seem like a big deal to have turned on the water for campers using those sites. - joshjack
Jun 2018 - $20.00
We have stayed at many COE parks over the past decade and were shocked at the physical layout and cramped conditions here. Motorhomes, fifth-wheels and pull-behinds are crammed in like sardines near the lake. If you have a boat and do not mind being a few feet from your neighbor in an unlevel site, then Floating Mill will meet your needs. Our reserved site (made with due diligence and reading multiple reviews), turned out to be one that cannot be safely accessed with a 42 foot motorhome. We talked to the host and were allowed to spend one night in another site-- could not level and evening power was very low: on average 105 to 107. Our surge protector shut down power once (meaning that it dropped below 104). The bathrooms are ancient and in very poor condition: rusted doors, one toilet did not work, etc. The one bright note is that the hosts were outstanding in working with us and really are clearly an asset to the park. Interesting note: the host said that the first time they came to the park as guests in their larger motorhome, they could not get into their site and left to spend the night at a truck stop. We would NEVER consider staying here again. For anyone who frequents COE parks: this is unlike any that you have seen! And, that is a shame because the lake is beautiful! - flrvers466
Sep 2017 - $13.00
We only spent one night but really enjoyed being there. Would not hesitate to return! Beautiful, clean park, wonderful view of the lake. Easy entry and exit. Would highly recommend. - Meyka
Jul 2017 - $30.00
Restroom/shower by site 91 was dirty and almost unusable, but if you walked down to end of the campground there was a newer restroom that was a lot nicer. Great views of water and nice campsites. - Radelm
Jul 2015 - $30.00
Not for couples with children. No slide, swing or pool. Lots of traffic through the site to get to the on location restaurant. I would not feel safe letting my kids outside alone. - Bdavis2900
Mar 2015 - $16.00
Great value and a nice quiet country setting. The owner is very nice. Not sure why another reviewer would rate the park unfavorably, but some can be difficult to please. We stayed in 43' rig. - Dngreen51
Sep 2014 - $30.00
After staying here before,I decided to give it another try. I needed to order several items online, and they will ship to this park.It was a big mistake,as it's worse now than it was on the previous stay.
This is a poorly run, overpriced gravel parking lot. The owners live next door, but they are rarely in the park. The daily rate is an outrageous 30.00 a day and there are no amenities. Just a dusty gravel lot.
While staying here I also encountered damage by the young kids mowing,I told him on 3 different occasions they were throwing rocks with their gas powered weed trimmers while they were trimming the grass in the gravel all around every site, one of the employees was using one that didn't even have a guard on it. My camper and car were damaged. Never even got as much as an I'm sorry from anyone there after telling them and the so-called manager. A few days later another person got their drivers window broken out by rocks from the mowers.
The owners and employees have absolutely no regard for other peoples property.
Also had a brand new sewer hose that they put holes in with their weed trimmers.
They have minimal rules posted in small print in the office, but none are enforced.I also had a very rude and noisy neighbor that started his old dodge diesel work truck up at 5:00 am every morning just a few feet from my camper, then letting it idle for 30 minutes before leaving for work, when I complained several times, nothing was done and I was told I could move.
There are no amenities included in the price. Their is a restaurant, I was advised by other people staying in the campground that it had terrible food and service,so I didn't try it based on that advice.
There are some pull through sites with 50a,and some 30a back ins,all are the same rate. The sewer and water hookups are very close together, the water hookup is underground just inches from the sewer hookup.
There is also a pay fishing lake that's not included in the rates, they charge extra for it.
They have wifi, but it's very slow. I used verizon aircard, only got 1 bar had to use my wilson amp and external antenna.
No showers here, just a small restroom at the restaurant.
Would never stay there again, there are other places nearby including several coe parks with amenities that are much cheaper.
Rates are 30.00 daily,200.00 weekly,500.00 monthly. - 58fulltimer
Sep 2015 - $27.00
The lady in the office was very helpful. Otherwise it was average. They did have a nice pool but it didnt seem clean. The bathrooms and showers were unkempt. - darlene eley
Apr 2015 - $35.00
Poor quality, trashed, run down, and avoid at all cost. I am not joking, restrooms have no doors, dirty, and run down. Would not recommend to stay here. Go somewhere else. - JayC90
Oct 2014 - $36.00
This park is haphazardly laid out, crowded, and dirty. Most of the guests are obviously long-term. Some of the rigs are in poor condition and surrounded by junk in the site. We had to put up with loud, cursing, and arguing neighbors. Several dogs would bark at every loud noise, in other words, often. The roadways are narrow and often used for parking by guests. The trash dumpster was overflowing with several bags of trash on the ground outside the dumpster. We did not use the restrooms, showers or laundry facilities...afraid to. We thought the rate was outrageous for this place. Obviously, the owners don't put anything back into the park. The way only redeeming factor was the lady in the office. She was very friendly and helpful. We had an emergency and could not find and anywhere else to stay, but we would stay in the Walmart parking lot before coming back here again. - normav
Jun 2017 - $24.00
Great stopover for a night. 2 miles from I40. Called ahead and front desk had site and papers all ready. Site was level, 50 amp FHU. Small store, laundry, pool and bathhouse. Showers were a little moldy but the sinks and toilets clean and well sticked. Lots of permanents with the usual junk but park was clean and quiet. Paid $24, tax included. - TeresaYuma
May 2017 - $25.00
Stayed here for 2 weeks. Some permanent residents but overall was very comfortable, close to shopping, staff very helpful. Not plush by any means but clean and felt safe. Would stay here again. All pull through. - JanAndDrex
Oct 2015 - $25.00
The owners are the biggest detriment to this park. I overheard the old man owner referring to one of his monthly renters and said if they don't like it they have wheels and can leave. Not my idea of customer service. Also restrooms covered in mold and bugs. The shower water was scorching. The office didn't even write it down. I would Never give that place another cent. - darlene eley
