Didn't notice when booking that this is an electric golf cart only resort. I was told due to insurance reasons. Clearly my fault, but sadly we hauled it in our toy hauler from the thumb of Michigan to only then sit all week. It wouldn't be a big deal, but watching the park admittedly allow children under the age of 10 drive carts around the park and $100,000 rigs all day is a bit mesmerizing. How is THAT safe, but an ordinary combustible engine is a safety concern?

In any event, the resort is clean, staff friendly and helpful enough I guess. Views of the lake should be great, but in our case the lake was drained 20-40 feet I'm told for the spring rains. That made for an unsightly view with dust storms whirling around the exposed lake bottom / shoreline. The fireplaces seemed like a cool idea, but were exactly that...cool. They give off little to no heat unlike a fire ring, and you can't really gather around them either. So I recommend skipping that cost. Sites are close together, and newly planted trees are going to be an issue in the future.

It's a long way away if you intend to spend much time in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg areas. Everything is a haul from here. We ran one tank of propane out while here, and the resort oddly does not fill tanks. Their suggestion was to make an 18 mile round trip to fill it at Tennessee RV. With a little research we found other RV resorts closer in town that filled them. Naturally they wouldn't recommend. Those resorts we have stayed at before.

I hate to come across as pinched up or bitter about the resort in this review, but nothing seemed to be quite right after check in. We will not return here.

Frankly, it's not worth the high premium unless you have a boat. Have everything you need because you're not going to "run out quick" for a gallon of milk...or propane. Save yourself the money and stay somewhere else. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the best park we've stayed in. It is our second time here. It is well thought out. Even great wifi! They want you to clean up after your pet as all park do, but they have bags and containers for the bags at various places around the park. Beautiful scenery too. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

All the touristy things are close if you want them.

Excellent moutain and lake views. Beautiful private fireplaces and long concrete pads for big rigs. Too far, at least an hour, from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Smoky Mountains. Rates are too high for March. Tiny dog park. Most sites are slightly out of level even with concrete pads. Bundle of wood is $7.50 with credit card. Lake level is ultra low during March, pool not open. Wifi worked well with empty campground. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go west to main road for groceries, 15 minutes away.

Not meant as a one night stopover but we're happy we did just to see the beautiful setting. Perched on a plateau overlooking the lake it's probably the prettiest CG/Resort anywhere. First class in every respect. One other word comes to mind: snooty. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This facility is absolutely beautiful. It is off the beaten path for the tourism, has amazing views of Douglas Lake, and the Smokies across the lake. The staff is professional and friendly. The facilities are fresh and clean. The resort is on par if not exceeding the former Outdoor Resorts, Blue Water Key in Key West yet is not a lot owner held resort. This place is on the top five of our campgrounds we have stayed at. We WILL return. Soon. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have been RV'ing a little over two years and we have found the "Mecca" of a campground!
Nestled on the side of a hill overlooking a lake the campsights are the best we have ever expierenced. There are many options but, we were in Lot #61 - a back-in with a freestanding full fireplace. The view is to die for and the lots are paved with some grass trip.
Landscaping in the campground is immaculate and well kept. WiFi was good - we did not use their Cable because we have a dish.
Pigeon Forge and all of that is about 15 minutes away across the lake but, we only went over once - stayed in the campground. We'll be back soon! We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

ALL campgrounds should be measured against Anchor Down RV Park. WOW....We glamped in site 158. Amazing views of lake. Full hook up with free standing stone fireplace. All sites are stamped concrete. All roads are paved. Most sites are large and have excellent views. These owners have set a high bar for RV resorts. I would recommend everyone with a motor coach camp here. No tents allowed. The bathhouse has seven privaye bathrooms/shower/toilets with slate floors/walls and granite counters, very spacious. Their is a large pool with water slide. Closed for the season. The grounds are spectacular. Block walls, stones, paved electic golf cart path. (rentals available) Laundry has three washers and six dryers (2.00 each). Large sites. Very well layed out. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Many things to see and do in the area.

This resort has to be on our Top Ten all time places to camp. Even though it is only a short drive from our home base we enjoy the short drive to get away and spend time with other campers. The staff is always friendly and extremely helpful. The sites are large and easy to get in and out of with plenty of space to stretch your legs. Not to mention the views of the lake and a backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Anchor Down is just a short trip into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for all your shopping needs.

Beautiful views, very clean - one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Wonderful kids programs. Not good for kids on small bikes as the recreation and pool are down a steep drive. Rent your golf cart way in advance as they are gone quickly. Looking forward to returning with grandkids next summer for the pool and water park. This is an excellent RV Park - other RV Park owners need to visit Anchor Down and take lessons in how to design and run an RV Park.

Great sites - really excellent sites - many with stained and patterned concrete and stone wood burning FIREPLACES. all set up around a beautiful lake in Eastern Tennessee. If you're coming near Knoxville don't stay anywhere else and don't complain about the pricing ($69 a night PLUS taxes and fees that come to nearly $80 a night.)

I have two complaints - one: not enough washing machines in the laundry room and two: you are required to use pads under your jacks on their concrete pads. Hello, people come here in their million dollar coaches yet must crawl on their belly under the coach to place a pad under their auto leveling jack stands??? On concrete no less?

Still it's a great place. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful and well run resort but is very expensive ($68.89 with taxes & fees)for an overnight or a couple of days layover. It is their off-season and one would think they 'd lower their rates to attract those RVers traveling through the Knoxville area. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Anchor Down is in an excellent location only about 4 miles from I-40 and a eleven miles from Sevierville. Anchor Down is one of the nicest RV parks we have visited. The views are incredible. Sites are either down near the lake, or an upper level overlooking the lower sites with the mountains in the background. We chose an upper site with an excellent view and some shade from a row of pine trees. The majority of the sites in the lower area have no shade. Many sites have beautiful rock fireplaces and the other sites all have very nice fire rings. Many of the sites have coated stamped concrete. They require you to use wood or plastic jack pads as not to damage the concrete coatings. The staff was great, bath and laundry facilities very clean. Golf carts can be rented as the walk to the pool, beach or lake can be quite a hike from some areas of the park. The only negative we found was the number of off level sites, the only reason I can't give it a 5 star. The site we were on, once our Level Up system got us level the right tires were 3 1/2 inches off the ground. That is a 3 1/2 inch drop in 7 feet, side to side. What were they thinking? We will return but will ask for a more level site. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground has the most beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The access roads and sites can accommodate the largest rigs on the road. Our site had 2 sewer hookups depending on how you put your camper on the site. The staff and camp hosts are great. I wished I lived closer because I would definitely go there more often. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is new. Gorgeous views from every site. We have learned that we prefer the sites at the top of the hill. Obviously families would prefer to be near the swimming pool at the bottom. We did not use the amenities, we just stared at the view for 5 full days. We had a huge site with a very cool stone fireplace. It was too hot to build a fire, but our last night there we had company who did. It was gorgeous in the dark as the firebox opening was round. This has become our favorite campground. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We found not a single fault. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is by far the nicest RV park we've stayed at in our 4 years of RVing. It is not cheap, but everything you could ask for. Sites are all concrete, large and level. WiFi is typically slow but all other utilities are good, although cable is limited. Park is on a hill and sites are terraced so you can see the lake from almost everywhere. Like all parks they ask you to pick up after your dog, but unlike most, they have cans for the poop bags and new bags. The pool is nice and there is a beach and dock along with a boat ramp. The bathrooms are all private and complete with shower, sink and toilet. Staff was very friendly upon checking in. Web site was great for making reservation and you could pick your site. We will definitely stay again. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
