There isn't a lot to pick from in this part of the state. This place is owned by an elderly gentleman and could maybe use a little more TLC. The electric was a little scary hooking up to but we had good voltage. Garbage cans are provided at each lot. Lot spacing is a bit tight (reminded me of KOA) but it was long enough that we didn't have to unhook. Noticed some road noise from I-40 but not too bad. There are farm fields on one side and that was nice. We were able to pull out and get fuel so that was convenient. Restrooms were clean. Would stay here again for an overnight. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

As other reviewers have stated, this is a bare-bones park but exactly what we look for. The entrance road is gravel and a bit rough but not enough to cause problems. The sites were fairly level gravel/grass and, although close to our neighbors, we had no issue with room for our slides. There is no cable but we were able to pull in 30+ TV channels by the antenna. Our site had been upgraded to 50 amp and all utilities were conveniently located and worked well. They provide a trash can for each site and you just put your bagged garbage in it and they pick it up. The owners live on-site and couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Definitely a "bare bones" park. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the grounds were tidy. For just an overnight stay it was OK. We'd stay there again. Water pressure and quality was good. As an electrician, I thought that the system was a bit sketchy, although the owner said that they had just upgraded to 50 amp. Pedestals are dated, and our 50 amp had only a receptacle and no circuit breaker. I always plug in before turning on the power, so I went to the main panel in the middle of the park and breakers didn't appear to be accurately labeled. Voltage was good however. There IS wi-Fi, but it was poor. Got good reception on Verizon with our Jetpack. We were able to get satellite reception, but the trees were still bare. You'd have to choose the right site when the leaves are out. We navigated the park OK with a 32 ft A with a toad, as did a large diesel pusher with a sizable trailer, but the park was otherwise empty. Lot spacing is tight, and it might be a challenge when the place is busy. The rate includes any discounts. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The price was high for what you get, but it's difficult to find RV parks in eastern TN unless you are near Memphis or Nashville, and then the prices go up.

Joy-O RV Park in Denmark, TN. Owned by the nicest lady in TN. The park is clean and quite and dog friendly. We had a pull through site with 50 Amp trouble free service and nice looking trees. The park is bordered by farm land. Owner accepts cash only. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

We had Lot 1 which was very level front to back and side to side. As others have said, the electrical connections were a little iffy in appearance but we were connected to a good 30 amp receptacle with a solid on/off switch. Virtually no noise from the interstate or the nearby T/A service center. Dated but very clean restrooms. Dryers are only $0.50 which fit our budget quite well. "Senior friendly" with a good supply of books and DVDs in the office/library. We will definitely stay here on our return trip to New York and I would recommend it to others who do not need a resort ambiance. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fee is based on weekly rate. We stayed here for access to East Memphis/Bartlett to visit family. Nice folks. Park is small and old but they take good care everything. The pool was closed for the season but it was clean and well maintained and looked rather new. The laundry, restrooms and showers have not been updated since probably the 1970's. That said, they were clean and well stocked. The power posts are wooden 4x4's that are near the end of their life. The electrical box did not have a breaker. I used a Power Defender surge protector that tests the circuits and the electrical checked out for 30 AMPS. They have 50 AMPS at some sites and these had newer boxes and looked like recent upgrades. Each site has a trash can but the picnic tables are plastic folding event tables and are in poor condition as you may image an indoor table being used outdoors. Road noise was low considering the proximity to I-40. Lots of trees and plenty of room between campers. We have stayed or looked at other campgrounds in the area and this felt safer and in better condition. There is very little to choose from if you are visiting this side of Memphis. I would stay here again. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is a wonderful place to rest, relax and enjoy the quiet. It is super clean and easy to get to from I-40. The laundry room is small but more reasonably-priced than most. Have a beautiful sparkling clean pool. About 15 miles to Jackson,TN where there is lots of shopping and restaurants. Not a place for keeping children occupied unless they use the pool. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an older, small, private park. Level, gravel sites, FHU, 50/30amp, wifi, small pool, laundry and bathrooms. No showers, no cable (did not try air tv). Good radio stations. $30 with GS discount. Easy off and on I-40. Nice staff and owners. We would return if in this area again. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean and quiet! Fine for an overnight stop, but I wouldn't want to stay longer as there are no amenities beyond the laundry. Small mom-n-pop park, for sure. Entry is dirt and twisty, but we had no problems with our big rig. Small park, only about 30 spots on one looped road. All hookups worked fine, although the look of the electric pedestals was a little concerning at first. Mature evergreens line the park, next to a wheat field. Open grassy area to exercise the dog was a bonus. There were only 4 other rigs there, and 2 of them had "Rent is due" notices on the doors. We paid cash as the credit card machine was down, so not 100% sure of the accuracy of the "Amount Paid" field. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is a nice park for the value. The owners were exceptionally friendly. (the gentleman just turned 90!) The spots are spacious and long enough to hold a truck, fifth wheel, and tow vehicle without unhitching. The entry road is narrow and rugged and dirt, so I can understand how one might complain if it was rainy, muddy, and night time. However, we arrived in early evening and had no problems whatsoever. We would definitely stay here again if we were traveling through! We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spent one night here while heading west. The roads into the park were dirt and windy, but passable for a big rig. Check-in was smooth, the owner was pleasant and friendly. The campground itself is old and showing it's age. The site was level, but the electrical box had no circuit breakers. No cable or wifi but cell phone service (Verizon) was available. There was a TA nearby, and road noise was not an issue. In general, a decent spot to stop between Nashville and Memphis when on I40 but not a place I would stay for an extended period. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

Almost didn't stay here because of all the negative posts. I am glad we gave it a try. It is an old park but very well kept. The pull through sites are gravel and packed dirt. Very level. The sites are surrounded by beautiful pine trees. There are many full timers, but their rigs are well kept. The road in is very curved but we had no problem getting in towing our car. This is a very basic old park that doesn't seem to have had much maintenance or care in a long time. As previously noted the road into the park is dirt, with twists, narrow and rutted, but passable even with a big rig. The campground is close to I-40 and it was time for us to stop after driving most of the day in rain. The campground interior is also primarily dirt with perhaps a bit of grass here and there. Most of the sites look fairly level and most are also pull thru with adequate roads through the interior to make it through the park. The 50 amp electric service at our site 9 did not have a disconnect or circuit breaker that we could find and therefore ended up connecting and disconnecting via a live receptacle, a very unsafe situation. Further the service receptacle was less than a foot above grade. The park was probably half occupied with longer term residents with a lot of junk lying around most of those sites. The campground served the purpose we needed it for the night we were there, but we'd certainly look for another campground when passing through the area the next time. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shore services are good. Water is about 40psi. AT&T Cell Phone is good, Sprint & Verizon Air Cards are good. No cable. There are sites to handle big RV's, are gravel & Dirt, with plenty of room for slides and between sites. Road into the park is narrow and rough as well is the road in the park. Did not use restrooms or laundry. Only a couple of long time tenants. Satellite access is good at most sites. No discounts. Payment can be cash, check or credit card. DirecTV Satellite is possible at most sites. This is not a great park but is good for a few days. We would stay here again. We camped at Joy O RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
