No one cleaned the bathrooms on the weekends. Sites in area B are too hard to get a big rv in and there was a lot of people complaining about it. The rangers need to patrol the area more than twice a day that we noticed for two weeks. Some days it was only once. Maybe we would have not got stuff stolen from our camp site! We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This state park needs to think about the big rvs pulling through area B because it is not easy at all and so uneven. When on the web site it says slightly graded, which is not true at all.

I like the "A" section of this park. In a motorhome it is the only section we could get into. This park is close to Chattanooga for shopping or sight seeing. It is a clean, quiet park. I would go back. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

We had a lovely waterfront campsite. We walked through loop B and decided that wouldn't be a good option for us, as most sites aren't level. Loop A is definitely a better choice. We didn't use any of the facilities. We were glad that we heeded the warning about big rigs and sites 36-41. The loop at that end is a very tight turn. Our motor home would not be able to make the turn. I'm guessing the rate. No discount for premium sites. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

As I've been making my way through the US, Chattanooga was on my must see list. The city is known for being very outdoorsy and picturesque. I was not disappointed. Chattanooga itself has a lot to see and do. Lookout Mountain, hiking, biking, fishing. It's a beautiful town with fun dining and shopping opportunities. As for close by campgrounds, Harrison Bay fit the bill. Only about 20 min drive from downtown Chattanooga and pretty easy to get to off the highway. The cost was also quite low. That was about all this place had going for it. It's pretty clear some updating is in order. The A loop has been updated and it shows. Unfortunately it was completely booked and I was unable to get into the A loop so I ended up in the C loop. If you have anything over 30ft, this is a challenge. I have a 34 ft RV and it was a struggle getting into my site. I didn't even have the worst of it. There were other sites even harder to get into. It's clear this is get together central for locals. When Friday rolled around the park filled to 100% with kids everywhere. The spots are so close together you can practically reach out and touch your neighbor. Not my cup of tea. I will say the people were all nice and not overly rowdy. They seemed like family folk out for a good time with their kids. Site accessibility (I barely made it in. I saw other people also struggling) - 1 Campground location (20 minutes to Chattanooga) - 4 Nearby amenities (Shopping fairly close by) - 3 Site Privacy (Doesn't get much worse) - 1 Campground amenities (Bathrooms were gross. No laundry.) - 1 Dog friendly (Dogs allowed everywhere but trails were minimal) - 3 Activities (hiking trails but they weren't very good. The lake was pretty) - 3 Cost ($20/night for 50 amp/water but no sewer) - 4 Staff friendliness (No hosts onsite but rangers patrolled and they were polite) - 3 Connectivity (Decent signal w/out a booster for both ATT and Verizon. Good OTA TV) - 3 Total rating = 2.6. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park. If you have something over 32 feet or have a long bed tow vehicle try to get in the A loop. B loop is very crowded and tight. Took a lot of backing and straightening to get in and out of B35 because we were long. Otherwise it's a great park. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are somewhat difficult, trees close, road quite narrow. Back in was possible, though difficult. Bath/restrooms were very dirty according to husband. Otherwise, peaceful and quiet area. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very basic campground with no sewer, but campsites are paved, and sewer clean-out was on way out. There was no attendant for check-in, but campsite was reserved ahead of time so we just pulled in. Very clean, quiet, wooded, near the lake, perfect camping. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I guess it depends on which loop you are in here as I have read some really good reviews for Loop A. We were in Loop B and were not impressed. The sites are very hard to get into and very unlevel which is sad as they literally just completed repaving the sites. We had to use 4 blocks on one side to get level. The sites are also pretty much a 90 degree turn to get into your site and trees are very close to the entrance. We were told they had redone the A Loop and it is very nice but you about have to book a year in advance to get a spot. It is a nice looking park. We didn't get out to do too much as it rained the whole week we were there. Probably wouldn't stay here again as it is just too hard to get in and out of the campsites. The roads are very confusing to get around as they curve all around in the loops. With all the leaves on the ground you could hardly even see the road. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Popular and large state campground. Area A is the most up-to-date with new paving, modern bathrooms and some waterfront sites. Workers say the B and C areas are due for upgrades heading into 2016. Area D is primitive camping and designated online as "tent only". The park seems stricter about keeping vans and Class B's out of this area compared with other campgrounds. Small camp store sells ice and other supplies but get firewood before you come into the park. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

I'm writing about a new (rebuilt) section of the park in which I did not stay because nothing was available there, but I want people to know about this: A brand new "luxury" experience is available at Harrison Bay! I think it's "Loop A," but check at the office. This rebuilt section along the lake has stunning sunset views, well designed spaces with water and clean electricity, and Wi-Fi !!! I'm not sure of the cost of those spaces, so call ahead or check on-line. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a good size grocery store on Rt. 58 north of the entrance. Ask for directions from the ark if you don't stop on the way in. It can be tricky from the park.

In the park, over at the marina, there is a very good restaurant/grill.

Many sites have direct water access and mooring for boats.

Check was at 4 we arrived a little early, tried calling park ranger since office was closed no answer. Waited till ranger showed up along with 2 other campers , told we could of just went back to our site. Very nice new facilities, 8 private baths with showers. We used this as base camp to do site seeing. Some sites are very spacious others are very close. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Had stayed here previously and would not have returned but heard they had done a lot of work on the campsites. We stayed in Section A on the water. Had a newly paved 50A site that was level and long for a 40' MH. No sewer but dump station nearby. All restrooms & showers are single, private entrance. They have plans to re-do the other sections in the near future.

There was no one at the Ranger Station to "Check-In" but we knew which site was ours don't know how it would work if you didn't have a reservation. Not a lot of rule enforcement and didn't see many Rangers. Great place for boaters and fishermen - we will return. We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park campground. We were in area A, site 37, and all sites in our area were newly paved. Our site which was lake front has a nice metal fenced patio area. Several of the lake front sites had this. The bath house also looked newly built and featured 8 private baths with the sink, toilet and shower in each. They were ADA accessible and the showers featured a fold up bench with upper and lower shower heads. No Wi-Fi, but they are in the process of installing it. The towers are there already. Good cell service. Close to restaurants and grocery store. Papa Johns delivers to the campsite! We camped at Harrison Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.
