A nice small state park, well maintained and cleaned. We generally use our own bathrooms but our toilet broke so we used the restrooms here and found them to be clean. They were convenient to this site. Deer roam throughout the park and campground. Our back in site #3 (handicap accessible) was fairly level and sufficient for our 40' mh and car. We were far enough away from the next site that their campfire did not bother us. We stayed here because we could not reach COE parks by phone and we could this park. It was also relatively close to Lebanon where we wanted to meet friends. It was easily accessible from US 231 that we were traveling on. We used the dump station and dumpsters near the entrance as we left. We liked the fact that the Tn, state parks don't charge entry fees like many other states do and they had a senior discount for camping. This site could use limbs trimmed. - JAWS
Mar 2017 - $31.00
Nice & fairly level campsite with quiet and spacious layouts. Our site had fire pit & grill with large picnic table and electric & water. We stayed in a site just 30 feet from lake shore. Easy access for putting in a kayak or fishing from the bank. Plenty of wildlife; ducks ran through camp often and deer could be seen on trails. Nice playground area for the kids.
Only 1 concern: There were No trash cans around except at bathroom or dumpster on way out of campground. Would have been nice to have one in the loop we were on.
Bathroom facilities are clean, flushable toilets, and showers are plenty big. The showers even have a removable shower head (BONUS), although the showers are separated by a small curtain so privacy is somewhat lacking.
Hiking trails are well maintained and variety of difficulty. Camp hosts were friendly and did drive through on a regular basis. We would definitely stay here again. - DeanaN3Dogs
Aug 2016 - $25.00
Very beautiful park. Lots of walking paths. Kids loved the playground. Great for fishing. The deer would walk within 15ft of the kids. They do have a tiny gift shop in the building when you first pull in. Only things we found bad was very tall grass that needed mowed and then no swimming areas for the kids. - Campingfamily4life

This has got to be one of the COE's top campgrounds. It is certainly one of the best COE campgrounds we've stayed in and we stay in COE campgrounds most of the time. The grounds are immaculate. The sites are well laid out and large. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I didn't rate this a 10 for a couple of reasons. First off, the floors in the showers are tile and some of the tiles are missing. Be sure and wear shoes. The shower was hot, however, and clean. It was just a disappointment that the showers weren't as nice as the rest of the park. Secondly, our AT&T cell phone only worked in one specific spot in the park. The hosts will show you where it is. Verizon MiFi was on again/off again and that was frustrating. We got Dish satellite service fine at first, but when we changed sites after lightning struck a huge tree next to us, we couldn't get the Dish to work in our new site. Kudos to the host in the park and to the Corps of Engineers for the way they handled the lightning strike, by the way. When we told the host about it, he helped us move to a new site immediately. The next day, the Corps had a tree service come and chop the tree down. It was too badly damaged to save it, unfortunately. Rate reflects our Senior Pass Discount. - Bobbi1948
Jul 2017 - $31.00
Nice swimming beach. We loved our spot directly in front of the beach. Level lot. No cell phone service for AT&T or Verizon. Hidden gem close to Nashville and we'll definitely be back if we can snag another full service lakefront spot. - HousleyinTN
May 2017 - $18.00
It's hard to beat America's Corp Of Engineer parks. So far Defeated Creek is one of our top five. Over half of the sites are water front with a shore line that is very welcoming. Many come with their boats and tie up right in front of their site. This park is very popular so if you want to get one of the water front spots with full hook up, you'll need to do a little planning and reserve early. We also enjoy the mountain bike trails and the Bear Waller Gap hiking trail that connect to the park. There is a marina next door where you can rent boats and the parks day use area has a great tennis court. You'll love the deer at night too! The sites are all well laid out and even the sites without a lake view are tucked away and offer something special. - Two Lanes of Freedom
Sep 2015 - $27.00
The lady in the office was very helpful. Otherwise it was average. They did have a nice pool but it didnt seem clean. The bathrooms and showers were unkempt. - darlene eley
Apr 2015 - $35.00
Poor quality, trashed, run down, and avoid at all cost. I am not joking, restrooms have no doors, dirty, and run down. Would not recommend to stay here. Go somewhere else. - JayC90
Oct 2014 - $36.00
This park is haphazardly laid out, crowded, and dirty. Most of the guests are obviously long-term. Some of the rigs are in poor condition and surrounded by junk in the site. We had to put up with loud, cursing, and arguing neighbors. Several dogs would bark at every loud noise, in other words, often. The roadways are narrow and often used for parking by guests. The trash dumpster was overflowing with several bags of trash on the ground outside the dumpster. We did not use the restrooms, showers or laundry facilities...afraid to. We thought the rate was outrageous for this place. Obviously, the owners don't put anything back into the park. The way only redeeming factor was the lady in the office. She was very friendly and helpful. We had an emergency and could not find and anywhere else to stay, but we would stay in the Walmart parking lot before coming back here again. - normav
Jun 2017 - $24.00
Great stopover for a night. 2 miles from I40. Called ahead and front desk had site and papers all ready. Site was level, 50 amp FHU. Small store, laundry, pool and bathhouse. Showers were a little moldy but the sinks and toilets clean and well sticked. Lots of permanents with the usual junk but park was clean and quiet. Paid $24, tax included. - TeresaYuma
May 2017 - $25.00
Stayed here for 2 weeks. Some permanent residents but overall was very comfortable, close to shopping, staff very helpful. Not plush by any means but clean and felt safe. Would stay here again. All pull through. - JanAndDrex
Oct 2015 - $25.00
The owners are the biggest detriment to this park. I overheard the old man owner referring to one of his monthly renters and said if they don't like it they have wheels and can leave. Not my idea of customer service. Also restrooms covered in mold and bugs. The shower water was scorching. The office didn't even write it down. I would Never give that place another cent. - darlene eley
Oct 2018 - $48.00
This campground is good when your passing through when the area. It’s right off the highway and you know it is there with constant drone of freeway traffic. The traffic noise is not distracting, just expect it because of your location.
The campground’s staff were friendly and helpful.
In general, the campground’s facilities are nice. It seems that they place the short term campers in the front section. The back section of the campground is for their long term campers.
The back section is still nice but their long term residents don’t try to keep their “stuff” placed either out of sight or stored in an orderly fashion.
The bathroom facilities were nice in the front. I’m sure the back section was also nice but we didn’t not use them. - Pigcrib
Aug 2018 - $48.00
Site was nice, park well kept. A little pricey ,but it's a KOA they all are. Staff very friendly and helpful. - Daniel123
Jul 2018 - $45.00
One of the Nicest, Friendliest KOA Campgrounds we have ever visited... The hosts were extremely nice, polite and helpful... We only stayed one night on our way to a family reunion in Raleigh, but I would certainly stay there again. We pull a 40' 5th wheel. Sites are gravel and not perfectly level, but shady and cool. The host guided us to our site and made sure we were satisfied. - Miaoreo
Sep 2018 - $13.00
Wish we could have stayed more than one night here. Even though we weren't lakeside, we still had a nice view of the very pretty lake. Our site used wood to create a 2nd level, and some of this wood needs replacing. The host at the gate was not that welcoming, but a ranger who came by our site was very friendly. - Lane Wise
May 2018 - $29.00
Stayed in site 20 over Memorial Day weekend. Our site was level but lacking privacy. Restrooms and showers were clean overall. The restroom doors were always open so there were bugs in the shower stalls. - cdb14
Jun 2017 - $29.00
Tough to find in a large MH but worth the trip. Sites a little close but all scenic. Biggest problem is finding the signage to enter the road to park. You must watch closely for sign on Cages Bend Road. - Supdog11
May 2018 - $13.00
Mostly agree with previous post. We were in a back-in by the water. It was spacious, packed crushed gravel, and level. Some shade. Beautiful view of the water, which was only 30' away. - mroswell
Oct 2017 - $12.00
Depending on your direction of approach, plan on traveling several miles on curvy, hilly, narrow roads to reach this campground. Your view of this campground is going to depend heavily on what site you have. The sites along the water are well-separated with nice views. Most other sites, not so much. Other than the water sites, the campsites are arranged in circles. We had two different sites since we were unable to secure one site for our entire week stay. Both sites were very crowded with views of many, many other RVs. It was not a good feeling with our table close to the table in the loop behind us. The sites have a thin gravel coating that, when it rains, become a real slimy mess. Our grill had the bottom burned out and our old wooden picnic table was falling apart. We were able to get satellite for DirecTV and Verizon signal for voice and data was strong. It was very quiet there at night as the recreation area is on a dead-end road. They shut the gate at 10, but it is not locked so you can get in and out. This was an acceptable place to stay to visit Nashville and the price is certainly right considering the cost of commercial RV parks in the area. - TheJim
Aug 2017 - $13.00
Stayed 5 nights with a 43' motorhome to visit Nashville and Opry. Our rate reflects America the Beautiful pass. Easy to get to CG, approx. 10mi from I-40. Easy check-in. Interior roads paved and easy to navigate. Our site #3, partly shade in the front loop and level with small gravel sitting on a sandy base. When it rained the site drained but was muddy. Good spacing between sites. Sites along river have a lot more space between them. Utilities E/W worked well - no sewer. Dump station at rear of park. Need to make a U-turn and go up slight incline to position to dump but manageable. Trash needs to be taken to the dumpster at the front by the bathhouse. Each site has a fire ring and table. Bathhouse (did not use) were clean but showers needs some attention to moldy curtains. Beautiful park with lots of shade and open fields bordering the Cumberland River. Grassy fields were in good shape with lots of room to walk your dog. Very peaceful, tranquil setting. You can watch the ships moving barges in the river and enjoy the view. Outside the park down the road is the Cedar Creek Marina where you can have lunch or rent a boat to cruise on the river. Nashville is about 15mi away. - RTM
Jun 2018 - $8.00
We liked everything about the park but there is no AT&T cellular service or WIFI service. The site was nearly level. There was plenty of space between sites. We liked the beach very much. Overall, we liked the campground a lot and will return. - Edji
Jul 2017 - $9.00
Our site in the Woodland area was very close together and trees made it hard to position with our slide out. There are no trash cans anywhere just a dumpsters so its kind of annoying when you are picking up after your pet. Our neighbors had 2 very large dogs that they tied to trees and allowed to bark all night. There is NOOO cell service. The picnic table was covered in green mold and not usable. The water is very pretty and its peaceful and quiet setting if you want to be off the grid. - this is us
Jul 2016 - $19.00
This is a very beautiful park. Our site was huge and very spacious. Noise was never a problem. There is ZERO cell service and that was one of my drawback. The other was I wished they had speed bumps to slow the constant traffic down. Kids are riding bikes and walking all the time so it would be very wise. Beach area was very well maintained. Park rangers and police presence most of the time. - Campingfamily4life
Sep 2018 - $30.00
The owner bought this park about 3 years back is getting it in better shape. About 35 sites total about 4 or 5 short term sites. Gravel roads with grass and gravel sites. He tries to keep his campers under control and the only issue we had was a kid kept turning a couple of dogs loose. He was on them like a duck on a big. Less than a mile walk into historic Granville. - TXiceman1
May 2018 - $25.00
We were directed to a space that required driving between 2 campers, then to the right between a tree and picnic table to unlevel site. Then drove out and back in to a site that was between same 2 campers but straight ahead. Level okay. Used electric on next site over to get 30amp. Run down and uncared for Park. Didn't use facilities. Stayed in camper. WiFi worked for short time then not for the evening. No Verizon service. - Sewgratefulquilts
Apr 2018 - $35.00
No cell phone service, wifi works 25% of the time. Electric is metered and we were charged double for the last month there. Scolded for running a/c in the summer and heaters in the winter. Muddy mess half the year. Dryers take 2 hours to dry a normal sized load of clothes. Pets aren't allowed in the building. Owner is rude and disrespectful. Will not recommend this place to anyone. - GerieTrevino
Sep 2018 - $29.00
Not much to do at the state park, but the campground was very nice. Sites were spacious and had gravel patios. Area was clean and well maintained. Picnic table on our site was out of level. We would return for the camping. - Russell Moon
Sep 2018 - $25.00
Love this park! Sites are a little close together. Wish they had full hook ups. We stayed in site 37 in a 37 ft. travel trailer and plenty of room both ways. - JLHickerson
Aug 2018 - $25.00
The sites are too close to each other. Our fire ring was right beside and almost under our neighbor's slide out,we could not have a fire. The newer part has better spacing but only have 30 amp. When it's 90+ I need both AC's going. Staff great and it is a nice state park. I would stay here again. - Daniel123
