The campground overall was small, but well laid out with lots of space in each spot for equipment and larger campers. That said, getting into the spaces was a little interesting as many people when we were here, had more than one vehicle in their space, so the access road (one-way) was that much narrower.

Our spot (#1) was easy to get into, although the width of the driveway into the space made getting in the dark a little interesting. During daylight it would be a snap to back into. There were spaces that could accommodate larger campers (5th wheels, etc.) but getting backed in could be an issue if your rig was longer than about 30' Our spot was mostly level (only a little off side-to-side) but some of the other spots were not particularly level. Check the descriptions on the reservation site as they seem to be accurate.

The bathrooms were kept spotless while we were here, and they were in good condition. There was a nice laundry room as well (washer and dryer, coin op.), with a three-well sink for washing dishes. The electrical service was a little older, but in good condition, and the water pressure was good. The locations of the services was right at the edge of the pad so getting to them was a snap.

Dump station located at the exit: one hole only. Good condition, and very clean. Lots of space to maneuver, easy-in, easy-out.

Park staff were very friendly and accommodating: some of the best service on a holiday weekend that I've ever had. (Tenn. parks always seem to have great park staff.) The park had lots to do as well (SUP, kayak, canoe, and fishing boat rentals on the lake, sand volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, etc.) as well as a large swimming pool.

Be advised that there is no wireless and no camp store, although there is a small gift shop at the park office. Check in was easy, as were reservations, and the park roads were in good shape with no local traffic to speak of. Firewood is available outside the park, but not inside. We camped at Standing Stone State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here from Thursday until Sunday. It is out in country and QUIET!!! The 1st night was great, but the 2nd night it was raining a bit and campground electricity was a bit iffy. The whole campground would shut down for a few and then come back on. The reason we knew was because campground would go completely black. Alot of sites are slight slopes. Ours was a deep hill to pull down into, but evened out when we set up. That and the electricity are the reasons we gave it a 9 instead of 10. We had a surge protector for our camper so no worries. The restrooms were standard state park as in older , but in clean working condition. The park was nice and the lake was a real nice smaller lake. People were fishing the banks and lots of picnic areas to choose from. We saw alot of wildlife in the park and it is real peaceful to say the least. There are lots of waterfalls and hiking to choose from within 45 min drive or so from park. Overall we will camp there again. We stayed in 21' travel trailer. We camped at Standing Stone State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Get groceries before you go. There are stores around and plenty of towns, but you have a short drive to get to them. It is a good lake to fish in or off bank, but only canoes, kayaks, and rowboats allowed on water. If you are willing to drive a bit alot of nice waterfalls and hiking trails in area.

Reflects 25% senior discount. Beautiful state park in the hills of north central Tennessee. Follow the park directions coming in here. You do not want to come in on the TN136. There is a one lane bridge over the dam that no large vehicle can negotiate. Spaces are well spaced, however many are not level, so some research is important if you need a fairly level space. Park staff is active in planning activities; we were here during the Spring Rally and attended several professional presentations with live animals. There is a pool here but it was still closed when we were here. Park was quiet most of the time, especially at night. Electric was steady, water pressure is high @ 80PSI, we used a regulator, most sites have good drainage during rain. No sewer at the sites here and dump is a ways up the road. No wifi, but Verizon MiFi and phones worked well. Bathhouses were kept clean and stocked. There is a 5 mile trail here; we did not walk it while here because of recent rains. A county road cuts directly thru the park, so you have to be alert while walking on the roads. Many birds and wildflowers here to view, we also saw fox and turkey. The dam site itself is very pretty, with picnic areas and a small swinging bridge. Be sure to visit the Overton Lodge, just for the drive. There are 2 waterfalls on the drive that are worth seeing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The office has a nice gift store. We would not hesitate to stay here again. We camped at Standing Stone State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent 4 nights here and loved it. There were only 2 other RV's This is a hill top location with good tree coverage. Some of the sites appeared to be tight for large RV's and the pool wasn't open. Nearest large town is Livingston located about 10 miles to the east of the park. The directions say Hilham, TN but we couldn't locate a Hilham. Do not enter the park from the south on TN Highway 136 in any kind of RV as there is an extremely narrow but scenic bridge with high stone walls and a 90 degree turn on each end. There is no place to turn around as the bridge is located at the bottom of a steep hill. We camped at Standing Stone State Park in a Travel Trailer.
