Beautiful setting in Jellico, TN. Small campground that consists of approx 40 sites. The inside loop sites have sewer connections, our site had 30 amp and water. Sites are paved and level. All have an extra pad with a picnic table (bolted down) and fire pit. Our picnic table and fire pit were behind the rig, odd position. The restrooms and showers were clean with recently tiled showers. No over-the-air channels available, no WiFi and weak cell coverage. If you're looking to be tech-free, this is a great park for that. With an online reservation, no need to check in. The campground has great facilities for day use. You can rent paddle boats $2.50 per hour/per person. Make sure your groceries and beverages are stocked up. Walmart SuperCenter is 10+ miles away. Not much in town for shopping. No laundromat at the park or nearby. Good park for a quiet getaway but the area is weak on things to do. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Wow what a great state park! We ended up staying 6 days we enjoyed it so much. First in site 4 which is a handicap site and fully paved, has a shade tree and overlooks the lake. Just beautiful. Then in site 44 which backs to the trees where we watched the deer. On most sites the picnic table sits on a separate concrete pad from your camper. Management takes real pride in this park and it shows. Lots of mowed grass and was a great place for dogs. There were 4 different playgrounds. A 1 mile paved walking/running path by the lake which was very nice. Bathhouse is updated and clean. Good Verizon and satellite TV. One of the downsides is that the road that goes through the park is used by the locals (those are the sites on the lake). The other is that the concrete at the non-handicap sites are not set up for class A motorhomes with the door in the front because they are wider at the back of the site. That is great for trailers and smaller rigs but not big class A motorhomes. Other than that we really did love this place and would stay again. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Very clean and maintained park. If you camp there stay in the outer loop. We figured out why we were about the only ones on the main road by the lake. They have 2 entrances and it reminded me of A & W and Frishes where people would go in one drive and out the other. It was a steady stream of traffic flying by and a lot of the same cars. Not a good place for kids. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park is a beautifully reclaimed strip mine with a large lake with some sites bordering lake, others on another loop. Mountains surround. Sites nicely spaced with mostly level concrete pads and patio. Four bathhouses in park, the one by lake new, clean, with tan/brown tile. Hot showers. Grounds well mowed healthy grass, nice scattered older trees and many new planted. Rental kayaks and paddle board. Friendly staff. Lots of walking paths and bikers. Nicest TN state park I have stayed at, really exceptional. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Let's start with the bad stuff...there wasn't any bad stuff. I rarely give 5 stars to anything but the most posh resorts. This park was the best state park we have ever stayed at. Great mostly level concrete pads, small camp store, things to do, clean bath houses that looked nearly new, etc. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Facilities somewhat improved since corresponding weekend last year. Showerhouse has been referrbished and was reasonably clean. Park has new paddleboats available for rent. Site price has gone up again. We usually meet up with family at Indian Mountain so that is the reason we return at least once a year. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kudos to the state of Tennessee and the city of Jellico for reclaiming this beautiful area from an abandoned surface mine. This is one of the prettiest state parks we've visited in Tennessee. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sites appear to be recently updated with new concrete pads. New landscaping is in progress, with many new trees planted in and around campsites. Many huge, old sycamore trees add to the beautiful surroundings. There are lots of grassy areas, and sites are well-spaced. We saw people kayaking on the lake. The camp store has paddle boats and fishing boats for rent. There are 2 nice playground areas. Bring mosquito repellant. As you would expect with water, grass and trees, the mosquitos have an ideal atmosphere for breeding. The campground wasn't full. The only down side is that there seems to be considerable traffic continuously passing through the campground. Most people are respectful and drive slowly. Biking requires considerable caution at times. We have 40 ft motorhome and had no problems navigating the roads or our campsite. FYI - we didn't have a tow vehicle but there isn't an option for NA on the tow vehicle questions in this review. Our site was just long enough for our RV. A tow vehicle would be manageable but would require some finesse to position. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stop for us after picking up our motorcycle tent trailer and the first time we have stopped at a Tennessee State Park. Sites appear to have been recently redone with concrete parking pads with some sites still having the wooden forms around them. Parking pads are very narrow with about 6 inches of clearance on either side of our dually truck. Campground roads are also narrow and as an owner of a big rig and long time full timer, I would not consider this campground big rig friendly. The parking pads had big drop offs on either side. The picnic table and water were located in peculiar locations, well away from the actual camping pad. We had a bit of a problem figuring out which picnic table was associated with our site. We finally discovered a number on the picnic table pad that was covered with grass clippings. Electric was adequate and Verizon cell worked well. Bathhouse was old and one must dress out in the open after showering. There is a small lake filled with Canadian geese. It was quite the spectacle in the morning with lots of noise and bird droppings in about 1/3 of the campground loop. Not sure how anyone could sleep through that noise as they were surrounding several RVs. Maintenance workers began mowing and weed eating at 7:00 probably because of the extreme heat. Overall, it was a ok stay with very nice neighbors. There are some interesting turns on the roads getting to the campground. One turn was immediately following a raised railroad crossing. It was a lovely looking state park and we would consider returning if we were using our motorcycle tent trailer but we would not stay in our 37 ft 5th wheel. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Tent.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is just a couple of miles off I-75. Jellico is a very small town and it appears most of the amenities are closer to the interstate.

Park has gone downhill in past couple of years. We've stayed here many big summer holidays over the past 15 years. This year the bath/shower houses were filthy, even more than one would expect during a high usage period. Toilet paper and paper towel holders were empty for many hours. New concrete pads are OK but not level. Prices have gone up about 25% since last year. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park especially with the new level, concrete pads. Our 39'fifth wheel easily fit with room for our truck parked sideways in front. I will give this state a 9-10 if the pool was not closed due to budget cuts and the showers were a little updated. Showers were clean even on a holiday weekend where the park was full. However, each shower has a curtain with a common changing area. Staff was very friendly. This is a hidden gem just off 1-75. We would definitely return. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Just needed place to park for night while on road. In Class-C. Nice concrete level pads, spacious and open, with a fire ring. Clean grounds. Saw workers pouring concrete for more pads.

Would definitely stay again. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

We loved our stay at Indian Mountain. Stopped for one night on our way home from a 30-day trip and decided to stay an extra night! Park is perfect for relaxing and taking in the scenic views. Our handicapped site was fully paved with concrete. Hookups were easy to access. Trash cans placed conveniently by the road between campsites. Wonderful paths for walking. Pet friendly. Have stayed here numerous times over the past 13 years. I gave the restrooms a clean rating based on cumulative experience. Most recent stay was 4th of July so restrooms were well used with all that comes with that. Recent improvements are a number of concrete pads with patio pad. Reservations need to be made well in advance of holidays. The park is in a small town and it's common for locals to cruise thru so traffic is moderate to heavy. Trash is emptied from central cans several times daily. During non-holidays the park is peaceful and quiet with several sites normally available. This is a nice park, but I had two problems with it which resulted in my low rating. First, I tried calling, repeatedly, for two days, just to make sure that they would have an open site. No one ever answered the phone, but instead they gave you a voice mail box in which to leave a message, stating that they would return the call. They never returned any of my calls. We finally decided to get off I-75 and actually drive to the park, hoping that they had a site available. They did, and in fact, there were only two other RV's there, so I don't know how they could have been too busy to answer the phone, or to return phone calls. Second, most parks restrict the camping areas to campers, and tell day users to keep out and utilize the day use areas only. Not here. Although there were only a total of three RV's sites in use, including mine, the camping area was packed with people using the sites for picnics, playing ball, using the playground, and driving around and around while blasting their stereos. In fact, two sites that I was interested in were being used by picnickers, so I had to pass them by. All in all, the park is nice, but is in need of new management to make it a bit more camper friendly. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Well groomed, very nice park with paved spaces far enough apart to provide some privacy. Sites mostly level, some with big trees. No pull-throughs. Clean restrooms and very nice play areas. Small lake with paddle boat rentals. Register at the boat office. Stayed here one night on my way through Tennessee. Would like to come back and stay longer. The only negative is lots of tame ducks, which is nice, but you have to watch your step some places to avoid the droppings. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.
