Pretty place with quite a few lakefront sites. We were only here one night but will definitely return. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park, great sites that are well spaced...like everyone gets a small yard. However, grounds crew came at 9am with mowers that sounded like helicopters and spent several hours cutting grass that didn’t need to be cut... so a very loud place. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

Stayed at campsite 27. Pads are gravel. Bathrooms and shower stalls were clean. The laundry facility in the bath house was a very nice bonus, not expected in a state park and was very clean. Although a bit off I-40 (14 miles from the interstate), it was very quiet and well maintained. The roads to it were also well maintained (asphalt). Verizon service is very bad, but AT&T seemed to be quite a bit stronger. No Wi-Fi. Cell service should be vital to communicate if emergencies arise and the state park service should remedy this. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park offers full utility hookups and this park is pleasantly located on a lake with forested hillsides all around. The RV campground is a full 10 miles off I40. We arrived to find someone in our reserved site, but he readily moved. So ranger supervision could be better. Wide grassy sites. There is a small swimming area on the lake and a pier to launch kayaks/canoes. Verizon service was weak/nonexistent. Many of the pull-through sites would be satellite friendly. Many of the back-in's would not. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Pin Oak Lodge has a small restaurant with limited menu and a reasonable buffet. Otherwise, dining-out options are at least 30 minutes away. There is a campground store located beyond the lodge - otherwise shopping is 30 minutes away. This is a very large state park with several other teming campgrounds located on other lakes.

I only came as a stop for overnight and truly wished I could have stayed longer. Beautiful drive into the park (although it is a distance from the interstate) and the campground is placed on the hills above the lake so a beautiful view is seen by all. Camp hosts were wonderful in an emergency--kind and helpful. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

I found their signage rather difficult and there was no one at the gate when I arrived at sundown, so first checking a campground map online would be helpful.

A slow 10 miles off I-40 but worth it. Streets are well marked and easily handled our 45' rig without unhooking tow vehicle. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The RV park at Natchez Trace State Park is very nice, with lots of greenery, a beautiful lake, and sites large enough to accommodate even the biggest rigs. Sites are gravel and seemed fairly level. Guests staying in the park are not required to obtain special passes for kayaks or canoes. We visited before the big Memorial Day weekend, when most park programs seem to start for the summer. There was no attendant to check in with, but signs directed us to go directly to our site, which had been assigned when we made our reservation online.

Birding is a fun activity at this park, but beware of energetic birds trying to build nests on your RV! We were only here three nights, but found an almost-complete nest up under our living room slide.

Internet was very problematic. We needed an external antennae and booster to get any service through Verizon. Water pressure was pretty high. Definitely use a water regulator. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tip for paddlers: Early morning kayaking and birding on Pin Oak Lake is fun. We saw our first yellow-billed cuckoos here.

Tip for hikers: Detailed area trail maps (4 pages) can be located in boxes at the Cub Lake Trail trailheads.

Our first visit in a state park. They take big rigs and have full hook up. 3 different campgrounds for primitive, water/electric and full. The park is huge and it is about 7 miles from I-40 park entrance to actual rv park. Lovely drive with good roads. RV sites are not level. Used 4" of block under back tires and back tires were still off the ground. I give site a bad rating only because of level issue. Our site backed up to ravine and sites next to us were on an angle so we weren't looking at our neighbors. We were in Pin Oak Campground. Lovely lake a short walk from our site. There is no wifi at sites but they do have it at lodge. We are Sprint cellular and we didn't have service in park or, for that matter, in the surrounding area. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

Loved this park. Stayed two nights @ site 31. Great 180 view of Pin Oak Lake. Great dock only 50 feet from campsite for fishing. Husband caught a 10 pound catfish during our stay. Great buffet style restaurant @ the lodge within 3 miles. Beautiful, well kept park. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed at Natchez Trace State Park twice now, and we were well pleased both times. Campsites are clean and well maintained, campground is family oriented, quiet and peaceful. There are beautiful views and no matter where you are, the water is a quick walk from your campsite. There is a developed waterfront area with beach, playground and picnic pavilion, as well as undeveloped water front areas. Full hookups, fire ring, gravel pads, picnic tables. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

I bit off the interstate, but a great place to rest, relax, and recharge. Check-in is by phone and cell service is pretty sketchy, so make reservations ahead of time. No WiFi and very limited TV channels unless you have satellite TV. Full hookups all worked very well. We've been on the road for about three months and just needed a place to chill for a few days. Lexington, TN is only 8 miles away and contains any services you may need. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

No signs at entrance giving direction to loop with reserved site. Had to roam around (no one to check in with) the campground until, I finally discovered the loop containing site!

Once at site; the 30 amp plug only had a 10 amp breaker! Had to use 50 amp service! Fortunately, I had a 50 to 30 amp adapter allowing connection to support my RV's electrical needs.

Site was not level as advertised. Needed three leveling pads on one side of trailer. So, not even close to being level. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Great state park, full hookups, right on lake. Our site was right on water with beautiful view of sunsets, and moon rises. Park is well maintained, every site cleaned after every stay. Very quiet. All sites are spacious, typical of most state parks. Great hiking trails. This is remote and cell coverage was weak, but we loved it. Closest towns were Lexington, about 15 miles, and Jackson, about 30. About 50 miles from Shiloh national battlefield, which was exceptional. We stayed 9 days , sight unseen, and were not disappointed. Would definitely return. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great state park if you don't mind driving a ways off the interstate. It takes about 20-25 min. from I-40 to get to the Pin Oak campground. We find the drive worthwhile and have stayed twice now just for an overnight. There are great spots on the lake with full hookups. We were able to get about 5 or 6 TV channels with our antenna. The road to the campground is very good, as are the roads inside the campground. Sites are spacious and it was not hard to get level. We were in site 27; it and nearby sites have great lake views and privacy. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

We stayed in Pin Oak loop site 76. All of the sites in this loop had sewer. $28.00/night. The picture showed the lake behind the site, but this was not correct. It was to the side with lots of trees blocking most of the view. Any map of the park is deceptive. It was a long way from Pin Oak campground to any other area of the park. It made it hard to explore the area on foot. We were in a 31 foot class C. We had reservations so we went straight to our site. Rarely saw the ranger and people who did not have reservations were unsure of the process of what was available and where to sign in.
