Campground and park has had major upgrades during the past year. Some trees in campground have been cut, making easier to get in and out of pull thru sites. There is a new small company store having food and camping supplies. The swimming pool is very nice with tables, umbrellas, a diving board and a slide. They actually moved the log cabin house to the entrance which is more convenient for visitors. And they are making the park look like it would ohave in the years when David Crockett was alive. There is a new fruit tree orchard, a vegetable garden, a horse coral with 2 horses, a pig pen with 3 pigs and a chicken coop. Great park with fantastic park rangers! We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here in a class c. Had the Nolichucky River view (53). Front end of RV required placing on 2-3 boards to level. Pull through site-spaces are close so no fire crate. We did use the crate next to the river(first get it basis). Awesome river sound and scenery. Checked out the bath houses-very clean only one for men/women at each end of the CC. Used our on board facilities. Used this cc for day excursions to Jonesborough and Johnson City. So much history to take in-didn't have enough time to get it all in-will definitely be back! People very nice and helpful at CC and every place we visited. Only got 3 ota channels. Be prepared to level your front end when visiting this park. Can't believe there wasn't many out of state campers-well kept secret We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice State Park located near a river and the historical site of Davy Crockett's birth. Fairly easy access off of the main interstate. Sites were pull throughs but were not especially level and were situated fairly close to each other with a small strip of grass between each unit. Due to the layout there was no view of the river even on riverview sites unless your coach has a front window view. There are fire pits along the cliff edge by the river which can be used by anyone but each individual site does not have a fire pit. The utilities were well-placed and easy to use. There was very limited OTA television. Verizon and Sprint had some service. There are walking trails by the river as well as through the forested area surrounding the park. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Historical Park Visitor Center is about a quarter of a mile up the road. They had some interesting displays and a film. They have historical reenactors during some periods of time. This nonprofit group also is building. cabins, barns, and other outbuildings which would have been present at the original homestead.

Located on the Nolichuckey River, this is one of the few campgrounds in the area that offers full hook-up (and many pull through sites) in their 50-amp area. Those sites are fairly close together, though, and some are fairly inclined to the rear. No fire rings in that section because things are a bit tight. The 30-amp section (E/W) does have fire rings and there's a bit more space between most of the sites. This section is better suited to shorter RVs. The $26 rate noted above is for a 30-amp site and includes tax. Verizon signal good and, depending where you park, you can get a few over-the-air TV stations. This is a beautiful park to walk through and enjoy the river and the area's rich local history. Walking distance from the campground is a Visitor Center dedicated to Davy Crockett and his times and a little further down is a really cool Pioneer Village. There are also a couple of wooded trails, one of which boasts a beautiful view from a high ridge of the Nolichuckey River. During peak summer weeks, there is a large swimming pool within walking distance from the campground (campers get a discount). We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rather than following GPS directions (unless it has changed), follow the sign for the park from 11E/321. Like the GPS route, it takes you through several miles of small country roads, but they aren't quite as small and tight as the GPS route.

$13.75 per night (half off-season senior rate for any row except the front row nearest the river but the park was empty this time of year so I could see/hear the river without problem and the max length of stay is extended to 21 days) was for a mostly level asphalt pull-through site with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer. Follow the posted brown park signs to the park as opposed to your GPS to avoid having to do a 180° turn (I had to disconnect my tow vehicle too) to enter the park. Site #34 was wide and long enough for my 40' motorhome and tow to park on comfortably. Slides and awnings had room to extend as well. Although sites are narrow, each site has a picnic table and some room to set up chairs. The park has community fire rings but there was a burn ban when I was there. It was very quiet during my stay. When I arrived, a very personable campground host was staffing the campground office and provided lots of information on the park and the local area. The night sky was brilliant with stars. Nearby larger cities have every amenity. AT&T was acceptable for texting and voice. My Verizon jetpack worked very well for internet reception. They do have park WiFI but I did not use it. I received eight (ABC was the only major network) digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed one night.

Clean and well kept.

Wi-fi has limited capacity, they tell you upfront that streaming video, etc users will be automatically cutoff. Signal not consistent.

Look at site descriptions when you reserve online. Our lot was nice and level. Most in the row closer to the river were slightly inclined.

Lots of overnighters.

Kind of far from nearby towns. The park and campground are next to the scenic Nolichucky River. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a popular park that offers many weekend activities which help attract folks. It is well off of US 11 on winding roads. They have many pull-through FHU sites which were long, paved, and nearly level. The large tent area and the back-in sites included fire rings. The campground borders a rapidly running river. It is about midway between Johnson City and Greeneville. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park on the river. Needs lots of attention. Low hanging dead trees. Upgraded sights, close proximity to other campers. Most sites will need 2-4' on one side to level. Sites 42-45 right in front of water treatment facility that needs repairs. Sewage smell multiple times per day. 42' 5er, barely fit. Pool open in summer. The spots were very narrow for what we have seen at other state parks. Reminded me more of a KOA or Jellystone. Full hookups were a plus. The bathrooms were single unit shower / toilet so multiple people could not use at the same time.

No fire pit at the sites we had so you either had to bring your own or forego. The site we were at (28) had no shade. Other sites closer to the river had better shade.

If in the area might stay again, but wouldn't make it our destination. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed our stay at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. The roads and sites were paved and level with partial shade. The sites are long and easily accommodated our 32' TT and truck. Most of the sites are pull-through, however I had to back in because of space limitations. The walking trails along the Nolichucky River are beautiful. There are excellent road cycling routes right from the campground. The host and other campers were very friendly. We will return to DCBSP! Campground gets very muddy and the lawn around the sites needs help. Campground hosts (and there seems to be too many for this place) park their vehicles on empty sites. Book your sites online or get what they want to give you. There are trailers there that look uninhabited and it downgrades the campground even further. Not all campground sites have sewer facilities. Most are pull through sites but the turn is pretty sharp. If you have a bigger rig you will cross the mud. Leaving the site is somewhat dangerous as there are large trees at the corner. Backing out could be a better option.

There is a pool a little ways away but does not open until summer.

Lots and lots of ticks....Use caution.

Walking areas outside the campground are nice. Went to Davy Crockets house and it seemed interesting until we spoke to a ranger. They are not sure if he actually lived there. Some years ago they found remnants of foundations in the area and thought one would be a nice place to build or move a structure calling it the Crocket family house. ?

At first it was a WOW factor. Then it was like who are they kidding. Made me laugh.

This campground is good for a night or two on your way to your final destination. Not a place to camp for more then that. The state should sell this area for development with a beautiful Walmart with sites that have sewer, water, and electric.

The Campground, with a little bit of money and effort could be a great destination. Right now to is not. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Camp hosts are outstanding as usual in TN. Asphalt level sites. Campground sits on the Nolichucky River. Showers/toilets clean. Sites are next to Crockett's cabin (replica). Good stop for a few days rest. The roads leading into the park are a bit narrow/winding and a real nail biter when approaching another oncoming rig. We had been there in the summer, just after they finished the improvements to the campground. Since then, the grass has pretty much grown in, but the sites are still rough & uneven, with lots of little rocks and small holes. We stayed in one of the spots that is never discounted, since it is 'riverfront'. Actually, the sites are across the road from the riverfront and have a lot of trees blocking any view. Next time, we will get a spot on another row so that it can be discounted. Bathhouse adjacent to the tent area is a single stall, combination bathroom & shower, so only one person can use it at a time. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park is small and dated. I was told that they will be doing major improvements to their whole campground to include new bath houses this coming fall. Over all this is a nice campground with beautiful views of the river and close to the museum. I camped here in a Class B. We camped at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in a Motorhome.
