This might be an OK park for tents or little trailers. We did not like it. The pull through was narrow and curved and the tree branches made it more narrow. It was dark and there was nowhere one would enjoy sitting outside to enjoy nature. It just was not pretty. Bathroom clean and nice. Dump station difficult to get to so we skipped it. There was water and electric that worked well. We could see a filtered view of the lake through the forest. Some small back-in sites were on the lake which might have been nice. We had reservations to return in a few days but we cancelled. We did not want to return. We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We skipped Nashville traffic and went to historic Franklin. Cute town with beautiful old architecture. Tour the Carter House involved in "The Battle of Franklin." Eat at Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe in Franklin.

Wow, so many positives and a few negatives. We stayed here for a week in one of the non hookup areas. We have been on the road all summer and have seen a ton of campgrounds and I have to say that the sites themselves are the best we have seen in the country all summer. So many have awesome proximity and access to the lake and all of the sites are dug into a forested area so that you don't see the neighbors almost at all. Reserve early and get one of the spots by the lake, with or without power. One bathroom has a shower AND one free washer/dryer which were handy. On the negative side is the availability of the bathrooms, of which there are 2. Both were EXTREMELY far away from our site (25). I'd estimate that walks to both were easily 1/4 and 1/2 miles respectively. Also, if you don't have hookups, access to potable water is terrible. For such a large campround, they absolutely need more faucets. Faucets were at the bathrooms but they could only spray water rather than a normal stream, which was tough to put in a cooler or bucket. Also, there is no propane nearby and when I asked the camp host about the whereabouts of propane he had no idea and had the audacity to tell me to google it. Great customer service. Also, there is only one driveway in and you have to pass the kiosk every time. If someone or a line of people are waiting to check in, you have to wait for each and every one before being able to enter, even if you just went down the road for ice or something. They need a fast lane. Anyway, after all is said and done, if you are prepared with some of the info I have given, this could really be a wonderful experience in an awesome camping area. We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is a bit of a hidden gem. It is an Army Corp of Engineers Campground on J Percy Priest Lake. There are only 10 sites with electric and water and 20+ primitive (dry camping) sites. You make reservations on recreation.gov and if you want W/E, you obviously need to reserve well in advance...which I did. Then I decided to extend the reservation by one day and the "helpful" gov't agent moved us to a dry camping spot. I didn't thoroughly check the reservation details so part of the blame is with me BUT then there is the agent...my new best friend. When we arrived he worked his magic. We had to move 3 times over 5 days but we had W/E for 4 of the 5 days. Instead of that last day dry camping we headed in for a staycation in Nashville...which is a 30 min drive. The W/E sites are level (dry camping..not so much) with plenty of space between sites. Relatively new circuitry. Elevated hose bib allowed for ease of attaching the filter and regulator. Clean, off the road, dump station. The views of the lake are beautiful. It would be great if they increased the number of sites to W/E and had more showers but they honor the America the Beautiful pass so we stayed 5 nights for 50% off. Not bad! So the agent is my hero and exploring Nashville was a blast from our haven at the lake. We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a US Army Corps of Engineers camp found on J.Priest Lake ,15 miles outside of Nashville. Wonderful, spacious, level sites with both direct waterfront and wooded areas. Sites 1 through 6 offer outstanding views of lake and access. This location is tucked back far enough from the noise and distractions yet within a few miles of any services or shopping you may need. Great place. Will be back. Truly a gem. We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground did not live up to the expectations I've come to expect from a Corps of Engineers campground. It was somewhat overgrown and not very well kept. The website described our site as paved. In fact, it was gravel. Each site had a picnic table and fire ring.

Situated on the western shores of J. Percy Priest Lake, this campground is close to Nashville. This was a non-electric campground prior to 2012. A flood washed out several of the campsites and the Corps rebuilt 10 of sites with water and 50 amp electric service. Our site, #4, was spacious, but a bit of a challenge to back in to. It required backing off the main road, down and steep, off canter grade that really racked our motorhome's frame. I noticed several of the other sites appeared more difficult, if not impossible to access with a large motorhome. I don't think this access issue would affect those camping in travel trailers or 5th wheels. Once positioned on the site, everything was perfectly level. We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Motorhome.
