Lovely wooded park which runs from Pickwick dam along the Tennessee River. Our site was along the access road with a direct view out our rear window to the river and dam. At this time of year the park was nearly deserted so we had our choice of sites. It is on a reservation system however we were assured that we could come on a first serve basis with no problem. The camp Ranger was extremely helpful and took care of all of the paperwork and registration. Electric and water were easy to access. Verizon had good service but Sprint had no service. OTA television was very limited. We had no problem with smell from the pulp mill across the river though if the wind was blowing towards the park that could be a problem. There is no designated dog area but access to the river and walking along it were very convenient. Shiloh and Cornith battlefields are easily accessible from this point. There is a small grocery store in the town across the bridge as well as several fuel options. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

GPS took us on a somewhat convoluted trip into the park. The best way to enter is to proceed to the dam entrance and follow signs to the campground.

We were really impressed when we drove into this campground, how neat and tidy it was tucked under a canopy of tall, mature pine trees. We did not have reservations since an earlier phone call had indicated that they would not be needed this time of year. The check-in office was closed, but a camp host/manager in a golf cart soon arrived. He was a very friendly and helpful gentleman; in fact all of the staff that we encountered on the phone and at the campground were very pleasant and informative. The indicated that, if we wanted to get DirecTV satellite that the outside spots along the road would be our best bet. He recommended a vacant site to us, which turned out to be a perfect site where we had a view of the sky for our portable dish. This also gave us a view of the river so that we could watch the barges. We had very good Verizon voice and data.

The sites were very clean with cleaned fire pits and the grills were even scrubbed. Even though this is a TVA site, it is managed by a private company. Good job.

There was a big negative. There is a paper pulp mill just across the river from the campground, operating 24/7, that contributes a background noise and significant unpleasant smell! During our three days here we tolerated it, but would not likely want to spend weeks at a time here. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground was perfect for visiting Shiloh National Military Park; do visit the Corinth Battlefield unit of the park. It has some wonderful exhibits. Well worth a visit to the Tennessee River Museum in Savannah, the closest town with supplies.

Campground is a TVA facility located below the outflow of the Pickwick Dam on the Tennessee River. Water and Electric are available at the campsite and a dump station is with in the grounds. The campground is not satellite friendly for roof mounted systems, portable units will owrk of on the fringes of the campground across from the waterway. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great place to relax, the river traffic is mostly tugs and barges. To get supplies you cross the dam and turn left on TN57, most of the local shops and restaurants are located within a few miles on this route.

One of the cleanest parks we've seen in a while. $16 with Geezer card. Level sites for our B with plenty of trees, just below the dam on the river. Campground host/manager was super nice and very accommodating. Only spent one night on our way south. Would definitely return. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

Multiple stays here now over 10 years (traveling full-timers).

Upgrades completed to last loop (C?) including the bathhouse. Large ADA-compliant concrete pads & walkways to bathrooms, nice. Removed many trees in this section now so there is not nearly the shade there was - trees / shade remains in the other sections that have not been 'upgraded'.

Loop C remodeled showe rhouse is nice, but they lowered the water pressure to nearly nothing, and it sucked! Luckily the 'older' bath houses (there are two) have strong pressure, good even with the shower valves you have to push to stay running.

As always, TVA sites are a good value - even with the recent turnover of management to a private vendor. We paid $16 a night with our Federal Access Pass. A great place to stay. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

Do not miss Hagy's Catfish Hotel for a meal, wonderful. Also 'The Outpost' cafe right up the road from Pickwick - a cool place that has 'a purpose' other than just being a restaurant.

Sites in pine woods. We had a great view of the TN River. Friendly campers. Easy access. Lots of space between sites. Dump facilities easy to access. Gravel boat launches for fishermen. This is a great "campfire" place. Biking is pretty good. Fishing and biking is all there is to do. You can tour Shiloh Battlefield and play golf at Pickwick State Park. The smell from the pulp factory was obnoxious, but did not seem to bother my husband. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great little park. As stated by others, all the sites are shaded and offer a beautiful view of the dam and river. There is some train and factory noise, but we enjoyed the stay very much. The staff are friendly and helpful. Coming from the south or west, cross the dam and immediately take the sharp turn left, down to the riverfront and dam. We will definitely stay here again. Overall Rating:

TVA has some good, cheap, public campgrounds, and this one is real decent. It has LOTS of shade, every space is under huge trees along the TN river below Pickwick Dam. Great place to just relax, watch the river and barges go through. The place is being updated in sections. The electric boxes are modern and the water spigots adequate. There is a dump station on the way out. The bath houses are still a little old where we were, but clean as could be expected. As with any place near the water, there will be bugs and frogs. They spray out the entire bathroom with a water hose early in the morning and that helps. Don't let it concern you, cause: The real plus at the bath is WATER PRESSURE. The shower was really great because the pressure was so high - the best water pressure at any place I've ever stayed! (The campsites didn't have that high of a pressure so don't worry about that). And the price is a flat $20 a night, tax included! We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

4/16-4/18 Pickwick Dam Tailwater Campground run by the TVA. Pickwick Landing, TN. This was our first time camping at a TVA campground and we enjoyed it. It’s a self-service campground with 95 sites and the majority of them offer level sites, water and electricity. There are heated restrooms with one shower but the bathrooms are used by fishermen and others just driving through. The campground is set in some pretty tall trees and one can watch the barges going through the dam during the day. Fishing, bird watching, riding bikes, people watching and visiting Savannah, TN and Shiloh National Military Park are all available. Also eating at the Inn at the Pickwick Landing State Park which is only across the bridge and also at Hady’s Hotel and Catfish just north of Shiloh are good choices. Some consider the catfish at Hady’s the best in the south. Adamsville,TN is close for a visit to Buford Pusser Home and Museum (sheriff from Walking Tall fame). We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

We have camped here the last four Octobers. All the sites are back in, gravel, shaded and relaxing. This is one of the TVA sites on the Tennessee River at Pickwick Dam on the south end of Pickwick Lake. The only negative is the tug boats on the river at night. Every site is shaded by 60' pines, there are three camping loops, each with restroom/showers. Golden Eagle Cards are honored for 1/2 price camping. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.
