On service road next to interstate. Convenient location for travelers. We arrived late. The staff were super friendly. The park is clean. Nice dog potty area. Bathrooms were very clean, heated (it was cold out), and secure. Well lit. Very pleased with this campground. Totally recommend. Ignore the bad reviews. I'm so OCD and I happily showered there! We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Easy in and out with gravel roads and sites. Site was level and long enough for our 40' motorhome and towed. The office is close to the entrance off of the highway so not much room to pull ahead when registering. Would recommend driver stay in RV and let passenger register so RV could be pulled up ASAP. Did not like being stuck out on the highway. Dog park was good size. Plenty of digital channels on cable just give your TV a lot of time to auto program. Will definitely stay here again. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Staff extremely nice! They helped us with our cable which was very nice. We did not have to get out our satellite to watch local channels.

Amenities and landscaping weren't as nice as other KOA parks we've stayed at, but for one night it was clean and easy to get in and out.

Neighboring lots ranged from nearby to very close. Sites were concrete pads with gravel, featuring a picnic table and patio. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Overnighted while enroute to Colorado. Convient to I-20BL, but traffic noise was not a problem. Site was a pull thru, level, with mix of sand/gravel. Kids enjoyed the pool, small but had a 7' end. Showers were dated, but clean and large for what we've seen at KOAs. Satellite was unavailable due to trees. Did not use cable TV, Internet was slow. We would camp here again. The park staff was very helpful in getting us parked and setup. They went above and beyond by helping me with a small repair by loaning me personal tools to make the repair. The couple who runs this park are very friendly and helpful. The Abilene KOA is centrally located with easy access off I-20. The facilities were clean and up to date. Wifi is available throughout the park. If you need high speed access the office has excellent download and upload speeds. We will certainly stay here on our next trip. As is typical with most KOA's we've stayed at, you pay more for what you get than any other campground. I will say this park was closer to being priced in line with what was offered than any other one we've stayed at, but only because we have a KOA discount card (or should I say Kard?). Most private campgrounds that offer what this one did and are in similar condition would be priced in the $30-$35. There is a pool, but being off-season it wasn't open. As others mentioned, the park says they are undergoing updating; at least that's what the sign said at the entrance. Personally, I didn't see any evidence of work being done other than the sign at the entrance. The interior roads and sites are gravel/sand/dirt. With the amount of gravel remaining, I'm being pretty generous in even including gravel in the description. The husband and wife that manage the place for the off-site (in CA) owner are very friendly as was all of the staff that work there. The pull-through sites are on the short side; barely providing sufficient room to fit our 40' motor home and attached Jeep, but the width was not bad. At least I didn't feel like we were right up against our neighbors. There appeared to be some long-term residents in the park, but all of the RV's were in decent condition. It is convenient to I-20. The cable service was very good. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The exits off I-20 are extremely confusing. I'm not sure how Texas interstates even comply with federal design standards. We ended up getting off I-20 too soon and drove a fair distance on the frontage road before reaching the campground.

The "Improvements" continue (only evidence being the sign); "gravel" roads are mostly dust now; (no need to wash your rig before you come, the golf carts driving by will give you a true "West Texas Dust Bowl" experience. Older KOA that is overpriced (hey! it is a KOA!). Appears to be becoming one of the "work" camps that the oil field areas are known for. Apparently it is VERY dog friendly so you can enjoy the wonderful sound of dogs communicating on a pretty consistent basis and the "rule" written on the brochure saying no "do not leave your pets unattended" is nothing you dog owners need to worry about. Enjoy the sound of the trains and air force jets as you relax, facing your neighbor's entrance door. (A real "buddy" site, you can even share awnings!) We camped at Abilene KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is an older park, there was good room to maneuver with our big rig. Our site was nice with some grass and it was a side by side set up with room between our opposing neighbor. all the utilities worked fine. It was located convenient for us. We had a good stay and would return. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this RV park while visiting the Abilene area. We had a choice of other RV parks in Abilene, but chose the KOA. Glad we did. The other RV Parks in the area are not as nice as this one. The sites are level and plenty of room on both sides for my slideouts! The office was very neat and clean as was the attendant being very helpful. We would definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here several times as a convenient overnight stop. It is right on I-20 and easy to reach travelling either east or west. Although right on the highway, road noise was not bothersome. As typical with KOA, sites are crowded and it is pricey for what you get, but outweighed by convenience. Wi-Fi was useable, albeit a little slow. Most likely we will stay again. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice level sites. Utilities are great. Good cable and WiFi. Friendly and helpful hosts. I20 is close, but the noise was not bad. We had no trouble sleeping. We really liked that the campground was not brightly lit at night, just some soft light fixtures scattered around. We spent a week here enjoying Abilene's attractions and relaxing back at the park. Great stay. Thank you to our hosts. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Travel Trailer.
