Nice park for overnight stay. Seemed to be a large number of spaces in use by "full-timers." Closeness of sites made things seem a little crowded. Camp grounds are on south side of Interstate 20. If traveling west bound, be sure to call ahead to get directions as to which exit to take. Also expect some, but not bad, I20 traffic noise. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Our experience was less than expected. The manager put me on hold for an unusually long time. I really think when they answer the phone, "It's a great day at KOA - can you hold?" then put you on hold before you answer... well, it's not really that great. When he did finally answer, I told him we were "7 miles away and wondering if you have a site that can accommodate our length (they advertise "90' pull-throughs - they have ONE), and if you can hold it for 10 minutes and we'll be right there". He put me on hold again to "check availabilty"... then came back and said, "We have one site that will work," and insisted he would not hold it unless we went through the whole check-in process over the phone. When we got there, we STILL had to check in. The site was marginally level, but plenty long enough for our length. So were a dozen other sites around us. The cable had only a male end and you have to use a cable box. Just as I finished setting up, a gentleman pulled up to our site and told me he was just assigned this site, too. Yep, the manager did it. The other camper had dealt with the manager before - he wasn't surprised. The boy needs some Customer Service training. A typical gravel lot with trees. I wouldn't come back on a bet. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Here's a tip: find a nicer campground. It was hot - all we wanted was a plug-in so we could run our a/c. Didn't need their water or sewer. Didn't use their cable TV (you have to use their box). Plenty of restaurants on Hwy 83. Be sure to have your own female-to-female cable adapter, since their cable connection is male (???).

Very basic KOA with level gravel sites. Hard to get in and out of frontage road coming to park. Campground make some improvements and bathrooms and showers were clean and nice. Can get cable with a converter box but chose just OTA channels instead. Did not try Wi-Fi. This campground is good for an overnighter. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Because we were going east bound on I-20 this was easy to get into but not sure how easy if you are going westbound due to the one way frontage roads - do your research. Easy to find site which was a decent length pull-thru. Utilities worked well and Wifi was good. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This camp has much more shade and looks nicer than all of the other, local and more expensive resorts we passed. The manager was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He even visited our trailer to help us fix a television issue we were having. The pool was closed (presumably because it was the off season). Otherwise, everything worked well and we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Location is a bit difficult to find as the entrance is along the frontage road for I-20. Site was large enough and level (gravel/dirt). Utilites worked well with no issues. Driveway at the entrance (where you stop to register) is a bit narrow for two-way traffic but manageable. It appears that some of the sites could flood during heavy rains. Good spot for an overnight stop. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

People in office were very nice. If you are bothered by road traffic, tell them you would like to be toward the back. We were in a pull thru, and were allowed to extend our stay for one night. Right on I-20 access road. WiFi was weak, but most are. The doggie park is real nice. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed there over night. A bit dusty and some road noise from I 20 but easy in and out and a very accommodating staff. I installed the cable box without any problem and the results were worth it. Much better than regular cable. We would stay there again. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Travel Trailer.

I suspect that Abilene doesn't get a lot of rain and this park is not equipped to handle it. The roads were rutted and our site was a mud pit. Some of the sites have some gravel but ours was mostly dirt (mud). Would probably be OK when it's dry. They have cable, but you have to use their box and hook it up inside to your TV. Too much hassle for an overnight stay. Wireless was slow. We had 2 bars LTE on ATT and 4 bars 4G on Verizon. The park is next to the freeway so there was some noise, but it wasn't excessive. I would stay here again if it wasn't raining. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical KOA. Old and run down. If it's dry it's very dusty. Lots of potholes in the dirt road inside the park. Trees that need trimming. But the worst part is the management allowed a toy hauler 5th wheel, two pickups, and a large delivery truck into the two sites next to me. They spread out into the neighboring sites, including mine. Stuff everywhere. I counted 11 people but there might have been more. It's a good thing I didn't want to use my patio table or any of the area, as they took it over. I couldn't even open my basement doors without getting them to move. They even lit their BBQ almost under my slide. They never apologized or got out of the way. They even pitched a tent right in front of my door. They were noisy playing their music and talking up until about midnight. There would have been a problem if I had to confront them so I didn't. The management drove by on golf carts numerous times and never said anything. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

We have a Sprinter-based class B. We were in a large site, #4, next to the cabins with water and electric only. Most other sites were the typically narrow. Wi-Fi was present, but even though we were close to the office we could not maintain an adequate connection to even read email. The staff was pleasant. They were painting the pool in preparation for the busy season. Bathrooms were dated but fine and clean enough. There is no dump station at this park. We were told we could find an unoccupied site and dump there, a minor inconvenience. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Motorhome.

After coming through deep West Texas (very brown, extremely dusty) it was nice to see some trees and grass in an RV park. The park has plenty of both (and the trees can affect satellite receptions, so be sure to ask for a clear spot if you need one). Gravel driveways and parking pads, which can be dusty when it's windy. Although the pads appear to be level. Back-in spaces around the perimeter seem to taken up with long time residents. Park appears to be well kept up, although it is older. Pull through spots for overnighters or short term stays are plenty wide and long, even for big rigs. We did not need to unhook the tow vehicle from our 40-ft 5th wheel. Most sites have both a sturdy picnic table and a BBQ grill. Probably best for overnighting as you are a ways from any thing to see or do. Staff was very warm and friendly, anxious to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Abilene KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This appeared to be a somewhat neglected park. They said it's under new management, but it needs attention. All internal roads are gravel that has turned to dust, our site, although reported as "level" was not at all. No frills whatsoever, very small playground. We won't be back.
