Very friendly and accommodating. This is a very nice park. Very clean and easy to get around. We had a nice end spot with concrete pad with table, chairs and grill. Nice pool, horseshoe pits, pickle ball, kids playground, dog park, laundry and showers. Also a meeting room available to rent. You can see they are working on improvements and adding more sites. The permanent residents have very neat and tidy sites. Will definitely stay again if in the area. This is not just an overnight spot, you could easily stay and see the sites. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The roads and sites are gravel but level. Grass is about 50/50 grass and weeds. Good dog park. Only 2 dumpsters/trash receptacles that I seen. It can make for a hike for some sites. Very clean showers/bathrooms with hot water in abundance. I didn't look at the clubhouse or pool, but from the outside they looked well maintained. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for one night on our way through Texas. The office staff was very friendly when we checked in. The roads and sites are gravel and the sites are long and level. There had been a lot of rain and the grassy areas were a little muddy, but the pad itself was fine. There was also a concrete patio. The cable and WiFi worked well. We got 4 bars 4G with ATT. We will definitely stay here the next time we come through this area. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Whistle Stop is a fairly new park right off I-20 west. I think it opened in 2016. This is west TX...it's flat, quite windy at times and dry. Anyone expecting thick grass and big shade trees is in for a rude awakening. Anyway.... Due to some confusion on my part...I thought we had a reservation, when we didn't. Thinking we had a reservation, we pulled in after hours and there was not envelope for us. Thankfully, an employee was leaving and came out to help us. That's when we realized we didn't have a reservation. Problem was, they were full. Everyone in Abilene was full because of the oil boom. All campgrounds in the area and to the west are full of work-campers (make reservations ahead!). They all have spots open for people passing through, but unfortunately, we arrived late and they were all taken. The girl felt awful (it wasn't her fault) and called her manager. He came over and gave us their "emergency site". It wasn't a pull thru, so we had to unhook our toad, but we were relieved to have any spot, especially since there is pretty much nothing going east, and we were too tired to drive to Dallas. When I handed him my credit card, he said he was giving us the spot for our trouble. Talk about fantastic customer service! I told him it was really my fault because I never got a confirmation email so I should have known that meant the reservation didn't go through. He still wouldn't take my money! You can bet I'll stay at Whistle Stop anytime we need to stay in the area. Most sites are pull through, great Verizon signal, convenient to restaurants and shopping, very clean restrooms, fhu, big rig friendly, SUPER nice and helpful employees. Highly recommend if in the area. Easy access off I-20 west. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As of Aug 2018...there is an oil boom in West Texas and NM...there are work-campers filling most all campgrounds in the area. I advise you to make reservations ahead of time so you have a spot. Most cg's save a few sites for people passing through or staying in the area a few days, but they sell out during busy times.

Would rate this park higher, but the dings are related to interior roads. They have used cheap white dust gravel and their sure isn't enough of it then if it rains (and it did) it's a white muddy mess. The sites are large but the pad for RV is narrow..then an $80.00 fine I'd you run onto the grass (mostly weeds)! We will select another park for future visits, this still needs a lot of work. No shade. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Fairly new site - 1.5 years. Very nice office staff. Clean spacious site. Our sight included a wooden swing, fire pit and charcoal grill (not all same). Camp grounds are on South side of Interstate 20. If traveling West bound, be sure to call ahead to get directions as to which exit to take. Also expect some, but not bad, I20 traffic noise. Overall Rating:

New park on I20. Roads and sites are gravel, trying to get grass and trees started but this is West Texas. Big park, lots of full time working folks but most equipment was well maintained. Pool area is very nice and well used by the guests. Check in was quick and easy. Park layout is easy to figure out. No escort to site. Easy to get around and roads are plenty wide. We stayed on the front row right across from pool (site 44) and it was very dusty because folks don't drive the speed limit, causing a lot of dust. Site itself was fine, 50 amp was good, water pressure was around 60 PSI. Our site was a premium pull through, had a patio with metal table and chairs and a fire ring. The park is pretty well dog friendly and had a fenced in doggie park plus plenty of walking room. There were pick up stations located around the park. Speed limit is not enforced so if you stay at the front of the park, close to the pool area, your stuff will be covered in dust. This was the only real issue we had with this place. Workers coming and going constantly at a high rate of speed. Speed limit is 10 mph I believe, these folks were doing 25 plus easy going by our site. Quite a few small children are around as well so this is not good. Good place to overnight or stay if in the Abilene area for a few days. This RV park is still a work in progress but, all in all, it is pretty good - a little pricey for what you get but not bad. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Campground was fantastic! Clean, new, plenty of room for large rig with tow. Don't need to disconnect. Clean laundry. Because new, dog run a bit messy. Trying to water to grow grass but becomes soupy clay - wasn't easy to get off dogs or shoes. But there is a doggy wash to use. Pull absolutely stay again. This park is well laid out with wide well maintained gravel driveways. The sites are level with clean gravel, patio, grass and a picnic table. The utilities are well situated and work well. The park is new enough that the shade trees are still very small and it looks like many did not survive and the grass is struggling to make it. The directions in the Good Sam Travel guide are confusing at best and our GPS has the location wrong. I suggest you call for directions. Look for the large sign the says "RV" with horse trails in small letters. We would stay here again. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.
