This is a 10 site parking lot just off Old Route 66 and the freeway. Had to call to get the bathroom access code and WiFi code (very low bandwidth). Told to pick a site and put the money in an envelope through the office door. Finally met the on-site manager the following morning as we were packing up. Felt too exposed and has not seen a lot of improvement considering they opened a couple years ago. Other than the sites, the gravel drives were potholed and uneven. - Rae & Mark

It is what it says it is: A campground with 30/50 water and sewer. The park is just off I-40 on business 40 aka Historic Route 66. There is a run-down café across the street that claims Route 66 fame but I wouldn't bother. There is nothing else around the park that is worth mentioning. The sites are gravel, pull-through, with barriers between sites. The sites are narrow but just wide enough for rig with four slides and awnings. No trees, no grass, no reason to stay for more than a night unless you are working in the area. The onsite host was friendly and made sure we were OK and offered the Wi-Fi code which we didn't need. They say there is a bathroom and shower in the little shed/office, but it was always locked. The neighborhood is rural and a bit sketchy. Folks if you can stand to drive for another 30 minutes or so, I'd push on. In our case, Amarillo was a bridge too far; I was exhausted. - Moe and Flo are on the go

This is a no-frills park with long dirt sites, long enough to keep our Jeep hooked up. Cash or checks are needed here. We used only the electric hook-up and it was 50A service. Would we stay here again? Sure. Easy on and off the Interstate, a good restaurant across the street, long hook-ups, 50A. Just what we were looking for. - swike

For us it was a nice campground for one night since we were making our way home. Easy I-40 access. Well maintained. Payment made on the honor system so have cash in hand. Everyone's right about Roosters across the street. Food & servers were great. Would stay again. - ursula white

Nice park in this part of hot, dry Texas: short prairie grass around the sites, trees, flowers nearby. Park is well-managed and maintained: sites are level, electricity and water supplies were fine, owners very nice. As others have posted, the food at Roosters, the small Mexican restaurant across the road, is excellent. (Their crispy chili relleno with blanco cheese sauce was one of the best I've ever had.) Like us, many folks are just stopping for the night, price reflects that. We will stop here again when we travel this direction again. - Mom_of_Two
