We have stayed here many times. It is an excellent location for downtown San Antonio. The staff are very nice an attentive to your needs. The facilities are clean and neat. We have never had any problems with the hookups. All concrete slab and pull through. Best to call ahead for a reservation as the park stays relatively full. You can just about forget it in the winter. - mlbarry
Apr 2016 - $20.00
I stayed here nine nights while in San Antonio. I called for a reservation, and I'm glad I did: The park was half-empty when I arrived, but filled up quickly.
Sites are level, all are pull-through and concrete. There are trees between sites, but no shade. There is enough space between sites to be neighborly, but I never felt encroached. The nature of the clientele -- active duty or retired military -- also contributed to an enjoyable, quiet atmosphere. No loud partying at all. On the other hand, freight trains come through regularly -- sometimes at late hours -- and announce their arrivals/departures with their whistles, but I'm a sound sleeper, so it didn't really bother me.
Another drawback is the remote location of the park on Fort Sam. Combined with the 20-30 mph speed limit on post, it can make getting around a leisurely experience.
Finally, Fort Sam has a number of gates that used to be open, but are now permanently closed -- something my Garmin GPS didn't know. You'll have to be aware of that during your maneuvers.
One of the cool things about staying here was the Army's tradition of bugle calls. You'll hear Reveille at 6, To The Colors at the end of the duty day, Taps at 11 and several others throughout the day. Suffice to say, you won't be getting *that* experience at just any RV park.
Staff in the office is friendly and quite attentive to whatever needs you might have. I asked to stay an extra couple of days, and was initially told no, but she called me back and said she could make it happen!
I highly recommend Fort Sam's RV park. I'd give it a 10 if it weren't for those trains at 11 at night. Still, I would definitely return on any return trip to San Antonio. - VA-Parrothead
Mar 2016 - $15.00
We enjoyed a full hook up site on a level concrete pad with patio area. Two clean shower/bath house rooms with attached laundry facilities. There is a nice covered patio on the back of the office with tables and outdoor furniture. Camp WiFi is slow and only available in the office. We picked up 30 over the air TV stations but 30% were Spanish language stations. Excellent reception for cell phone, Jet Pack cellular and satellite (DirecTV). The park roads are well paved for walking and bike riding. The park is near the hospital at Fort Sam Houston so there was a lot of helicopter traffic over the campground. - HappiLeeRVing
Nov 2013 - $20.00
Under no circumstance stay here. Planes directly overhead, trains nearby, and emergency sirens all night long. Tight getting in and out. Short sites. Utilities in bad places under rig. - 11 Bounder
May 2017 - $45.00
Old park that needs updating. Too many trees that need trimming, Sewer and water are at very back of site and used 32ft of hose to reach. - Dennis_K
May 2017 - $33.00
This KOA was ideal for our two night sightseeing stop, and we made use of the handy bus stop right in front of the campground for fast, direct, and inexpensive service into the Alamo and Riverwalk area. The restroom and showers appeared brand new inside and were kept clean. We had a back-in water and electric site in the K section at the far end of the park beneath huge shade trees, a cool and relaxing setting. It was just a few steps to the city's paved bike-hike trail, perfect for dog walks. - NC Writer
Apr 2017 - $37.00
Last stayed here December of 2015. Good, well run KOA park close to downtown SA. Staff friendly and helpful. Good long pull through that fit the 5th wheel and tractor while unhooked. Electric pedestal, water, and sewer drop placed well in site. Good cable hookup with quite a few channels. One item that we noticed is some of the long term tenants from the last visit have left and the owners have built more camping cabins in that area. Long term folks that are here police their sites a lot better now. Gated park with good security. Hunt Brothers pizza still a good value and delivered free to your site. To sum up, it remains a well maintained park that we would return to when in San Antonio. - xarmoreddriver
Sep 2016 - $25.00
Great inexpensive park to stay at. No frills, but for the price it was just what we wanted! Very close to downtown with bus stop out front. - AllisonGNolter
Feb 2016 - $35.00
We had left voice mail requesting a site for 5 nights. Someone called us back and said they had a cancellation and to come on down. When we got there, our name was not on the list of reservations. We had to back into a site where sewer hook-up was not feasible. We moved to another site but had to drive in frontways. The sites from an earlier era have been divided into two sites. Which means that one of the sites shares the sewer with the one next to it. Problem is that when you back into the secondary site, the hookup is on the wrong side. Then, while the bathroom and shower are clean, they are woefully in disrepair. Many people would refuse to use them. The campground trash was over flowing when we arrived and 4 days later had still not been emptied. The camp host is very nice and helpful. Would not stay here again. - sailor323
Dec 2015 - $20.00
This park is a good park to stay for a few days while visiting San Antonio. The sites are long and level. It is a smaller park with some long term residents. The WiFi was included and worked fairly well. We would stay here again. - BigR
May 2017 - $36.00
Office staff was very helpful when we arrived. Explained how the buses worked, showed us places we should visit on a map. Every time we went to the office with a question they were friendly & helpful. There is a bus stop right out front. Laundry room is clean and equipment in good shape and reasonable prices. Small swimming pool, dog park, pavilion, small community room connected to office. That's it. But we wanted to sight see and do laundry so it worked for us. There is some kind of industry behind the park but we weren't bothered by any noise from it. Not a lot of grassy dog walking areas. I walked ours on empty sites. We would stay here again. - Patricia57
Apr 2017 - $40.00
This RV Park has problems. Older park wiring that is not code compliant damaged my trailer. These old electrical installations are dangerous as they are located at near ground level and get wet when it rains causing power surges to your rig. When I complained to the Park Manager, he agreed to pay for the damage, but I never was paid, and it has been over a month. Park is held by some shadow corporation, for which the Park would not provide information for me to follow up with. Do Not Stay Here! P.S. Not that close to the River Walk either.... 6 miles away. - Tom Oregon
Apr 2017 - $39.00
Good park near downtown. Neighborhood okay, not noisy at all. Park overall was well-used, but kept clean. Staff very nice and helpful. - JAYFLIGHTRV
Nov 2015 - $45.00
This is a 95 percent full time trailer park. There are paved road thru park, sites are gravel/dirt. The park is Expensive for what you get. $45.00 night, $245.00 week. The amenities advertised are not all working, you are lucky to be in a spot where Wifi and Cable are usable. $20.00 deposit cable box needed. I have used these boxes many times before and after trying two boxes the front office threw up its hands and says "we only provide cable because Time Warner gives it to us free, it's not ours you will have to call them." Many of the spots for short term , including mine, are next to road (noise) or against the UP railroad and a stone quarry (bad dust). I didn't use restrooms, can't rate. Front office is useless, backed by General Mgr who has been on job too long and doesn't care about individual customers issues. Location is asset, located close to I-35. If you have never heard of a non-refundable deposit, get ready. Laundry at park, ok but old machines, one of ours leaked. - Dieselrv08
Nov 2015 - $17.00
Facility filled with old park models. Extremely unlevel, gravel sites. Narrow streets filled with speed bumps and pot holes; very, very difficult to maneuver a big rig through. Satellite reception difficult or impossible due to trees. We lost power sporadically, especially during storms. Park poorly maintained. NOTE: The trees at our site prevented satellite reception, so we tried working with the management to move and were told nothing available and to keep trying. We tried for over a week and were told to check after the first of the month when the monthlies vacated their spots. When two sites came open that would work for us, we asked to move but were told they could not move us due to the way their "reservation system" worked. They had no intention of letting us move when they told us to keep checking back. When I called the office and spoke with the general manager, I was told "that's the way it is and next time you can go to another park," and HUNG UP on me! We have have traveled extensively and have NEVER encountered a park like this one! - CWinLV
Sep 2015 - $17.00
I stayed here for 6 months while on a work contract. The staff and maintenance people were friendly and so were the neighbors. Lots are larger than most places that I have been. Not packed in like sardines! Utilities were excellent and trash pick up is daily at your site. Fenced dog park with dog droppings bags supplied at all three dog parks. The price was $500.00 monthly which breaks down to $16.60/day for a monthly RV rate. Nothing extra is charged. - MedicineMan
May 2017 - $45.00
Great park. Location was on the south side of town which had this been years ago would have been an issue. This part of town is coming back. Old park but very clean. Stayed four nights and would return again. One issue....we had to ask for a second location as a tree prevented us from turning into our assigned site with our 45 footer. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. - LarryLS
May 2017 - $46.00
We arrived after hours, our packet was available and the information was perfect. They even left packets for anyone who may come in without a reservation and a list of available sites. The roads were wide and easily navigable with our truck and 34' travel trailer. The sites were immaculately kept. The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest we've seen anywhere. The park was close to downtown with many options to get there; drive, walk/bike along river walk, easy/cheap bus ride. We wished we could have stayed another day. - Lacrosse 318
Apr 2017 - $42.00
Loved this park, great access to the riverwalk and mission bike and walk trails. The staff was excellent. The park is well layed out with good access for big rigs, the WiFi was very good throughout the time we were there. - Tlcola2004
Jun 2014 - $40.00
While the people in the office were nice, the park itself was the nastiest I've seen. 98% was run-down full-timer sites. Our site was an un-level mud pit, water was broken-although was repaired while we were there, had to use Lowe's WIFI since park's did not work.Very run down. Full-timer next door used his hammer to build something on his front patio until midnight. Unhook TOAD at parking lot. Whole park is next to busy freeway. - OurRVLife
Jul 2013 - $20.00
Lots of seasonal RVers, oil field workers, permanent residents. But park is not trashy and most sites are kept up. Gravel roads & all pull-through sites. Good WiFi from park or Lowe's. Unlike 1 poster, I used the WiFi on both my iPhone & iPad with no problem & signal was consistently good. Most sites in full sun. Park is close to Walmart, HEB, Walgreens, several fast-food places. And right on I-35, but I'm not bothered by highway noises. I used PPA and also wouldn't pay full price, but for $20 all I wanted after a day of sight-seeing was good WiFi & electricity to run the AC. - happybooker1
May 2013 - $20.00
Friendly permanent residents, but the park needs a lot of attention. Grass was mostly weeds and needed mowing. Lots of junk around. Electricity was good. Water was highly chlorinated. Strong Verizon 4G signal. The free WiFi is only good for one device. I had put it on my tablet and it denied me use on the netbook. We were at the front of the park, along the Interstate and across the street from Lowes, so I used their free WiFi. Our very loud AC unit almost drowned out the truck noise from the Interstate. If you are going to spend the day in San Antonio, this place is convenient and inexpensive. We used Passport America. I would not pay full price to stay there. - Road Princess
Mar 2016 - $18.00
We had electric and water hookups that worked fine, as did the dump station when we left. The main reason for my rating was the poor, or lack of, service. The office was closed too often and the staff did not return phone messages. It was like musical chairs in the campground. Every day, this trailer moved from here to there and that one went from there to here. People stayed well past check out and with no staff overseeing operations it was easy for people to come and go without supervision. In addition, the Wifi was a hit or miss affair. It would suddenly drop the signal then not be available to reconnect. There was no cable tv. - Melodycthomas
Aug 2015 - $20.00
Space is available on a first come first serve basis. If there is a spot when you arrive, claim it and then pay at the office. Small campground with about 30 spaces, but clean and well kept. Good electric and good water pressure. - CWinLV
Nov 2012 - $22.00
Stayed here for a month. Park is military but civilians can stay with a military sponsor. Rate is slightly higher. You have to leave the base for one day every 30 days. The rate includes full hookups no charge for electric and the laundry is free. Nice park most sites have shade except for the partial hookup sites. These are pull throughs with a paved surface. The full hookup sites have concrete and pavement. Nice place to stay. - Buddman
