As a previous reviewer said if you want a safe, quiet, easy to get to place for the night pick this one. We were working our way east on a 1,400 mile trip and the most important thing was safe, quiet and easy to get to. The sites are attached to a small gas station, convenience store/gift shop (with a selection of wine) and 6 room motel. There is a little noise from I-40 as it is easy off-easy on but not distracting at all. The parking area is dirt over compacted gravel and when we were there it was bone dry and no problem. There were many ruts that suggested that if it were raining the drive area and sites might be muddy but we do not know that for sure. Full hook ups with 50 amps worked as they are supposed to and surprisingly our site was level from side to side, a bit steep from front to back. We are 42' class A and did not have our tow. Plenty of room to maneuver. Fine place at a great price for an overnight stop on a long trip with just the basics hook-ups and no amenities. We camped at Alanreed Travel Center in a Motorhome.

If the criteria for a place to park for the night is that it be safe, accessible and have water sewer and electric, then this spot meets them all. The price is right, it is nothing special but it is everything you need, and you will be safe for the night. It's not fancy, but neither are we. We camped at Alanreed Travel Center in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a moment and visit the store and its well stocked supply of souvenirs, and say hi to the owner. She is a very nice person and when we left our leveling pads behind she mailed them back to us. Her store is just amazing - trinkets and Texicana - something for everyone. I wear my AlanReed Texas T-shirt with pride. We were gone early the next morning but we were well rested and had a nice visit while seeing a very unique slice of Americana. Ask the owner about her grandson and his fiance. It is a very moving story and you probably heard it on the news, but she was kind enough to share with us.

Nice place to stay while en route. Small, nice people and easy on off of I40. Not many amenities, but quick and quiet. We camped at Alanreed Travel Center in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

First off, this is a little 'mom & pop' motel that has a few adjacent RV hookups; just your basic place to stop, rest and get out of the weather. Not fancy and nothing other than water, sewer and 50 amp electric, but quiet. It is operated in conjunction with the cutest little country store and gas station where the folks are friendly. If you're looking for "all that and a bag of chips"...keep moving. But if you just need a place to relax, get out of the weather (in your rig), hook up to water, electric (50 amp) and sewer for the night on the cheap, it may work for you. We'd stay for a night again if in the neighborhood. We camped at Alanreed Travel Center in a Motorhome.
