This is a KOA Journey park...but I don't know why. The staff is great, the store well stocked and this is the place for you if you like train horns all night long. This park used to be gravel but has turned to mostly dusty dirt. One of the MANY Panhandle storms went through and you could barely see two rows for all the dust in the air. It also is close to the airport and even closer to a very busy railroad track. Just about the time I would doze off another train or two would go buy. Very sleepless night. I stay here only when all other Amarillo RV parks are full. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

This was our first KOA visit ever and we were quite pleased. They asked us to drop our motorcycle trailer as the site we had booked would not hold our Class C Greyhawk as well as the bike trailer. When we stopped to unhook, we noticed the ball on the hitch had a slight problem and had to make a Walmart run for a replacement. One of their guys helped us get 'reconnected'. All folks we met there were friendly and helpful. It isn't a luxurious RV resort but definitely fit our needs for an overnight stay. It is on the north side of the airport and far enough away from I-40 that we didn't hear all that traffic. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

No frills stop while crossing Texas on I-40. Full at night, mostly vacant by 9am. Friendly staff. It's basically a field w gravel roads and very close level dirt sites. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical KOA campground, which for us means positive. We were only there for one night, passing through. The place is very hard to contact by telephone. Several times on different days, as we were planning our trip, we tried to call but would get a busy signal with no voice-mail option. We had a plumbing problem the day we were at the camp, and the staff was not as helpful as one would have hoped in helping to locate a plumber with RV experience and able to help on short notice. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearby restaurant "Big Texan" offers a free shuttle from the KOA camp, which the KOA staff help to coordinate. The restaurant is large and is a tourist attraction in its own right. We enjoyed our meal there, which was moderately priced considering the circumstances.

We just had water and electricity NO sewer site. That is over priced for no sewer. Mostly gravel. It was clean and quiet but overpriced for sure. Pool was cloudy like too many kids tee tee in it. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Only stayed here because this trip we are heading North from Amarillo so it was on the way. It is an okay KOA but overpriced-$49.00 w/o card for electric and water only (all they had available in a pull thru when we arrived for only 1 night). Friendly people gets them this rating. Bad part of town, dusty, and at the airport with trains nearby also! Probably will stay somewhere else next time through. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park before and I think it has actually improved to a degree. The interior roads are in much better condition than previous visits. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made the stay here with the somewhat high nightly rate. The gentleman that guided us to our site even offered to assist in connecting to the utilities if we wanted. While it was obvious that the area was in a drought they were still trimming and cutting where needed and I saw very little trash blowing anywhere in the park. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was easy to find, follow the Garmin. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Interior roads and sites are gravel. Roads are easy to navigate. Sites are long, wide and fairly level. full hookups worked as expected. CATV worked fine. Free WIFI worked fine. Good Version service. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Small playground for the kids. This is a decent place to camp. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This KOA is good for an overnight stop. Level grass/gravel sites. The interior roads need some work as there was standing water in many areas, which led to mosquitoes swarming around our RV. It is Amarillo so expect the smell of cow dung and some flies. There were some permanent residents and while their sites were clean there were a couple of the trailers that looked like they were about to disintegrate. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. Good power and adequate water pressure. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

It is relatively bare for a KOA, and there are no fire pits. The picnic tables are in need of repair, and the pull-through sites are narrow. With that said, the people in the front office are very friendly and helpful, and they drive you to your spot. It's conveniently located, and I would consider it as simply a place to sleep rather than a place to hang out. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

As the owner of a brand-new teardrop trailer that I'm still getting used to, I greatly appreciated the personal service and *especially* the super-clean, spacious women's bathroom. I spent two nights here and can't imagine having a better stay in any commercial campground. Will definitely be back. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fun free hayride all around the park. The staff member who drove the tractor really seemed to enjoy his job, which made it even more enjoyable. Nice staff. Nice pool with a small shaded area next to the pool edge. Several chairs under the shade so that parents can watch their kids without being in the sun. Playground had new equipment, some of it was unusable while we were there because the cement around the foundations was still drying. Bathrooms were clean and nice. Cable was good. Internet was fine. Not a lot of shade at the park because the area doesn't have a lot of trees. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

This park if not too far off the interstate, but lies about a quarter mile between a railroad & the Amarillo airport. Neither seemed to be much of a bother. Was a good spot for over-nighting. Site was just long enough for our 42 ft. class A. Had to park the tow across from the coach next to the laundry. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Reservations made easy on the KOA website. Was late arriving but they had map and info posted on their late arrival board with our name and site number. Found space easily. No problems with hook ups. Site was fairly level, but still had to unhook the trailer. This was an overnight stay starting our vacation as well as ending our vacation a week later. On the return stay, I place 1" board under the trailer wheels and that leveled the trailer. Staff very friendly. Have stayed here in the past and will continue in the future.
