Only stayed here because this trip we are heading North from Amarillo so it was on the way. It is an okay KOA but overpriced-$49.00 w/o card for electric and water only (all they had available in a pull thru when we arrived for only 1 night). Friendly people gets them this rating. Bad part of town, dusty, and at the airport with trains nearby also! Probably will stay somewhere else next time through. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park before and I think it has actually improved to a degree. The interior roads are in much better condition than previous visits. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made the stay here with the somewhat high nightly rate. The gentleman that guided us to our site even offered to assist in connecting to the utilities if we wanted. While it was obvious that the area was in a drought they were still trimming and cutting where needed and I saw very little trash blowing anywhere in the park. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was easy to find, follow the Garmin. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Interior roads and sites are gravel. Roads are easy to navigate. Sites are long, wide and fairly level. full hookups worked as expected. CATV worked fine. Free WIFI worked fine. Good Version service. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Small playground for the kids. This is a decent place to camp. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This KOA is good for an overnight stop. Level grass/gravel sites. The interior roads need some work as there was standing water in many areas, which led to mosquitoes swarming around our RV. It is Amarillo so expect the smell of cow dung and some flies. There were some permanent residents and while their sites were clean there were a couple of the trailers that looked like they were about to disintegrate. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. Good power and adequate water pressure. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

It is relatively bare for a KOA, and there are no fire pits. The picnic tables are in need of repair, and the pull-through sites are narrow. With that said, the people in the front office are very friendly and helpful, and they drive you to your spot. It's conveniently located, and I would consider it as simply a place to sleep rather than a place to hang out. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

As the owner of a brand-new teardrop trailer that I'm still getting used to, I greatly appreciated the personal service and *especially* the super-clean, spacious women's bathroom. I spent two nights here and can't imagine having a better stay in any commercial campground. Will definitely be back. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fun free hayride all around the park. The staff member who drove the tractor really seemed to enjoy his job, which made it even more enjoyable. Nice staff. Nice pool with a small shaded area next to the pool edge. Several chairs under the shade so that parents can watch their kids without being in the sun. Playground had new equipment, some of it was unusable while we were there because the cement around the foundations was still drying. Bathrooms were clean and nice. Cable was good. Internet was fine. Not a lot of shade at the park because the area doesn't have a lot of trees. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

This park if not too far off the interstate, but lies about a quarter mile between a railroad & the Amarillo airport. Neither seemed to be much of a bother. Was a good spot for over-nighting. Site was just long enough for our 42 ft. class A. Had to park the tow across from the coach next to the laundry. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Reservations made easy on the KOA website. Was late arriving but they had map and info posted on their late arrival board with our name and site number. Found space easily. No problems with hook ups. Site was fairly level, but still had to unhook the trailer. This was an overnight stay starting our vacation as well as ending our vacation a week later. On the return stay, I place 1" board under the trailer wheels and that leveled the trailer. Staff very friendly. Have stayed here in the past and will continue in the future. This park provided everything we needed. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Yes it is near the airport and the train tracks. you can hear both when you are OUTSIDE. We, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, were never bothered by the noise. This park is on the plains of Texas so there is plenty of sunshine. Sites are fairly close together but still room o fully extend slides on both side. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here January 5. We arrived and the water at all sites was frozen due to a storm front. It was below zero or close to that at 5 pm.

The only positive was the man who was working there told us that

we could have a limo pick us up for dinner at our site. The Steakhouse was good and pick up at site enabled us not to unhook. We only used the electric. In the evening the snow came with colder weather. In the morning when I asked if someone could come get our small propane tank and fill it they said no, insurance issues. I also said can I call at 1 pm as if the weather improved we would continue on our way. The lady said there was a late fee.

Also at 8 am my husband trudged through the snow to the front desk,

the temperature with wind chill was below zero. He said can I come in and they said no dogs allowed. You would think under the circumstances which were unusual a brief exception would be made. Really they should have offered all campers a free night if they stayed another day. Some common sense and gratitude for our business would have been nice. The train noise with windows closed was not that loud as someone reported. The area looked nice but with snow and freezing temperature we had no idea. Everything was frozen except the electric. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Perhaps I should be more forgiving but someone needs to say it: The campground is too close to the railroad tracks. This part of the west has lots of trains and being so close is more than just a minor nuisance. If you want to open your windows at night, wear earplugs. It might work, but I doubt it. RVers beware! We opted for this park over less expensive ones based on the reviews - 2 in particular. One claimed the "new, BEAUTIFUL bath house was spa quality." The other review claimed the internet was the best they had experienced in their 4 weeks on the road. NEITHER of these claims were close to true. The bath house was adequate and clean except for a fair amount of hair on the floors, but they did have private stalls for shower/changing. New? Yeah... in the mid-1980's. Beautiful, not so much. Spa quality?! You need a new spa. I don't have anything particularly bad to say about the bath house, but don't choose this park based on that review. We've stayed at one in Heber City, Utah, that truly had spa-quality bathing rooms. That's what I thought we were getting again based on that review. The other thing is the internet. Tried to watch our favorite show on Netflix with our Roku unit. It buffered CONSTANTLY to the point we gave up. Oh, and this place is right next to the Amarillo airport. We stayed in one in Flagstaff that was right next to the highway, and we weren't bothered by the noise, but here it sounded at times as though the jets were landing on our roof. And, there is a train track close by as well. Oh, happy day! This park wouldn't be half bad for a one-night stay, but we paid about $10 more than other parks based on those glowing reviews. I know this site says they don't accept reviews from park owners or employees, but I think that's exactly what happened. We are staying another night in Amarillo, but we are changing to another park. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Motorhome.
