This is an old mobile home park converted to only RVs and lots of permanents. They seem to pack all the short-termers in one area pulled in from both directions. It is VERY noisy ALL the time from the Interstate. The folks are very friendly and helpful. Don't expect much of a WIFI. TV is off the antenna. They really pushed the free shuttle to and from the famous Amarillo Big Texan 72 oz steak house East of the campground. We did go and that was noisy too. The food was good and priced moderately. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

They city was under heavy construction of highways everywhere we went and getting from one side of the Interstate was terrible. Very windy city so leave your awning up. Not a very scenic city or campground. Next time I'll probably just drive through.

Park is located off I-40, and is good for an over night stop. Easy in and out for big rigs. Sites are gravel, spacious, close to level and open to the sky for satellite. Most have picnic tables. We have a 40ft MH with tow, and don't have to unhook. There are now 3 dog areas, all fenced in, and have dog waste bags with a trash can. There is also an indoor pool, store and social area. The Big Texan restaurant is located down the street, and they have free shuttles to restaurant. They also opened Starlight Ranch event center located across from the entrance. Always good for an overnight stay. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Limo service to Big Texan but very average steak if you ask us. Better steaks at Outback or, better yet, buy one at HEB and grill your own!

Easy in and out. Plenty of room for our 40 ft RV and toad. They must have upgraded the wifi because it is way better than it used to be. Great for overnight stays passing through. Free donuts and coffee for breakfast. Our site had a tree beside us and birds were roosting in it and left poop all over our coach. Next time we will ask for a site without a tree. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Next to I-40. Very noisy. Stayed 3 nights to visit the area. Took free (+ tip to driver) limo service to Big Texan Steak Ranch. Pool and Hot tub were locked up at 6pm-seemed a bit early. No recycling. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Visit Palo Duro Canyon to hike and mountain bike. Dinner at the Big Texan Steak House was just ok. Take a drive out to see Cadillac Ranch on the west side of Amarillo off I-40.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park, manager at Amarillo Ranch RV Park responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, Ramblin-Roll! While it's true we are right off Interstate 40, most of our guests actually do not notice the traffic sounds. The large field between our park and the access road along I-40 generally provides us with a nice buffer, but I apologize that it was noisy while you were here.

The heated pool, hot tub and sauna do close at 6pm during our winter and early spring months mainly because they are indoor and part of our office/clubhouse. As we get into May and the busier summer travel months, we do extend the hours to 7, 8, and eventually 9pm. I'm sorry the early close prevented you from using them, but I'm glad to see you took advantage of the free limo ride to the Big Texan. Our guests really enjoy that complimentary service!

As for recycling, the city of Amarillo does not have a recycling program, so we do not provide that service either. Thanks for staying with us and safe travels! Dave Heiser, General Manager

Park is very clean and well laid out with wide streets. Camp site was level, with dirt & gravel, 50 amp service, picnic table, and fire pit. It also was much longer than our 40ft motorhome with toad and plenty wide. There were trees around but still able to get satellite service. They escort you to your campsite. Close to I40 and easy to locate. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Relatively easy to get to off 1-40. We stayed in their pull through area which is a large gravel lot with hook ups. Easy in and out and large enough for our 44 ft and tow without unhooking. Other motor homes very close but for an overnight it didn't bother me. Nice dog park and other amenities. Nice people to deal with in the office. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an older RV park and, while clean, is not at all beautiful. The pull through area in which we stayed is a large gravel area, a gravel parking lot with utility hookups for 14 campsites. The wifi is adequate. We had room to park our motorhome with the tow car behind with no problem. The interior roads will accommodate a large motorhome with no difficulty. Be sure to get off I-40 at exit 74. Our GPS took us off at exit 73 and we had to navigate a neighborhood and go past a closed entry road before finding the park entrance.

Thank you for taking the time to review our park. We are sorry you did not find our park beautiful. We are in the process of doing construction to our indoor pool and have added a larger dog lot. We are an older RV park, but pride our self in having a clean park. We are glad you enjoyed the large pull thru site. Come see us again, and see all the updates we have done. Weekly rate. Excellently located to things-to-do in Amarillo. Nice man on a golf cart took us to our site. We had a long, gravel pull-through with plenty of space for slide outs on both sides, and room to park our toad. It was rainy and chilly the week we spent here, but the indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna were wonderful! Nice paved roads, with room to maneuver. My GPS took me the scenic route. The best way is to take exit 74 off of I-40, like their signs say. I really like this park for either a one-night stop, or a longer stay. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Had stayed here in 2009 and keen to try it again. It is now under different ownership and is a clean and well kept RV park. Long pull through site, gravel but even, with decent spacing between campers. Great indoor heated pool and spa. Good wi-fi and they will loan you a box (no charge) to hook up to cable as we wanted to watch baseball; however, there are lots of local TV channels using the antenna. Easy access and Stayed 5 nights to meet up with friends. Would recommend and stay here again. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is our second visit here. It's a great overnight CG, though if I had stuff to do in Amarillo I wouldn't mind staying longer. It's clean. 60psi water pressure. We shared power Post and spigot with the site on our left side, but didn't mind. 40x40dog area. Indoor pool. Gravel site was level. Free shuttle to Texan Steakhouse. Near airport but with A/C running, didn't hear any planes. Wifi was typical RV park weak. Picked up 35+ local channels with antenna. We would stay again. While this park was okay, it was not great. The sites are gravel and mostly even. Our site was slightly slanted so we had to move over a little to be more level. The mosquitoes were out of control so wear lots of DEET. There is not a big area to walk your dog and of course you have to share the limited space with all the mosquitoes. The indoor pool and hot tub are good. It is pretty easy access to the highway and next door to an outdoor event center that can get pretty loud at night on the weekends. Overall, it was okay but I will look elsewhere when passing through in the future. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very clean and well kept RV park. We will definitely stay here again. Long pull through site. Decent spacing between campers. Very clean restroom and shower facilities. Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

First Impression: Big (like in Texas), sprawling, open, attractive roadside presentation. Safety: no concerns. Access: exit 74 off I-40 onto access road going west. Huge sign on fence away from road with arrow pointing to Sunrise Drive. Garmin GPS was accurate. Office: Friendly staff, token store with snacks, souvenirs and trinkets. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. Good Sam discount. Facilities: Heated, indoor pool (closed during our visit - equipment malfunction), hot tub. No fitness room or rec center. Laundry room not inspected. Restrooms/showers not inspected. No propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter. A few, decorative trees. Interior roads are asphalt with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. No tent area, yurts, or cabins. Sites are sufficiently spacious, level, gravel, pull-through and back-in, scrub grass landscaping (hey, you're in Texas). Utilities at mid-rig with FHU-20/30/50; no meters. Strong water pressure with good taste. Sewer pipe is 3" threaded at ground level. No patios. Nice picnic tables. Open ground fires not permitted. Good satellite views. Free cable TV (4 channels). Free Wi-Fi with good coverage but very poor bandwidth, pages took "forever" to load. Verizon phone at 4 bars; 4G not checked. No recycle bins. Noise: Distant railroad, Air Force base aircraft, no local traffic, audible interstate noise. Bug Report (late July): a few, small red ants were noted. Runners: CG roads good for running. Yoga: grass area might be okay for your mat. Conclusion: Score 7-Good. This is our second visit to this CG. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
